Slaughterhouse Releases Snippet Of ‘Hammer Dance’ Video

The Slaughterhouse boys–Joe Budden, Royce Da 5’9”, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz–are gearing up to drop their latest album welcome to: Our House via Shady Records and they’re getting into the swing of things with their new video for the LP‘s first single “Hammer Dance.” Check out a 30 second snippet of the clip above and tune into MTV Jams and MTV2 on Sunday 4/22 for the officially premiere.

In March, MTV News caught up with Slaughterhouse on the “Hammer Dance” video set in Austin, Texas where they explained their vision behind the clip and gave an update on their forthcoming album. “I think it’s just a day in the life of Slaughterhouse, a lot of energy,” Crooked said, of the video. “We’re gonna give fans a chance to shine, and I think when it’s done, you’ll see how authentic it is. When we roll into town, we jell with people, no matter where they are, who they are, what part of the world they’re from. We’re just average dudes trying to do extraordinary things.”

An official release date has not been set for welcome to: Our House, but they confirm that the LP is close to finish. ”[We're] still working out minor tweaks, [but] it’s way more done than people know,” Royce said. “Marshall is actually mixing right now. He’s actually mixed the entire album, and that wasn’t even the original plan, so we’re super excited about that. He’s just taking songs to another level.”

‘The Lucky One’, ‘Think Like A Man’ And More: Double Feature Friday!

74024 Lucky One No Country The Lucky One, Think Like A Man And More: Double Feature Friday!

This week, yet another Nicholas Sparks movie, “The Lucky One,” hits theaters, this time with Zac Efron in the lead. But if you’re looking for something a little more dangerous, we have just the recommendation for you. Plus, we raise awareness about the impending primate uprising. Do not be fooled by the charms of “Chimpanzee”!

Check out this week’s Double Feature Friday!

“The Lucky One” “No Country for Old Men”
In March of 2010, before the release of the Miley Cyrus-commissioned “The Last Song,” Nicholas Sparks gave an interview to USA Today in which he called Cormac McCarthy’s “Blood Meridian” “horrible” and the “most pulpy, overwrought, melodramatic cowboy vs. Indians ever written.” So in honor of the release of his new movie, I recommend you stay at home and watch the Coen Brothers classic “No Country for Old Men,” which is based on a book by McCarthy. It’ll certainly teach you a thing or two about luck.

“Think Like A Man” “The 40 Year Old Virgin”
These two movies have two actors and an idea in common. Both Kevin Hart and Romany Malco make appearances in these films about what it takes to be a man in modern society. Granted, Steve Carell’s Andy has a lot further to go than the men of “Think Like A Man.” It’s also worth going back to the very beginning of the Apatow legacy and seeing where the empire began.

“Chimpanzee” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”
If you’re heading to the theater to watch the latest heartwarming documentary about an orphaned chimpanzee who finds a new home in an unlikely place, do yourself a favor and remind yourself of the destructive power of primates gone wild. Before you fall to the charms of a cute little chimp, watch the ascension of Caesar as he lays waste to San Francisco. It will keep you safe and put you on guard for the eventual chimp uprising.

“Marley” a lava lamp
Sometimes the best way to reflect on a movie you just watched is to plug in the ol’ lava lamp, think about the things you’ve seen and get lost in the goopy contents for a few hours. Everything—the documentary on the brilliant musician, the cosmos—will become clearer.

What are you watching this weekend? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!

If one movie is never enough for you and you’re looking for a flick to get you in the mood for this week’s new release, Double Feature Friday is here to help. Every week we break down the new releases and pair them with older movies that you should catch before heading out to the theater. Or just skip the new movie and check out the classic we recommend.

Suge Knight Doesn’t Think Tupac Is Really Dead

By Rob Markman

If you let Suge Knight tell it, last weekend’s holographic Tupac performance at Coachella wasn’t entirely necessary because the former Death Row CEO believes that the beloved rapper is still alive. During a Friday morning interview with 93.5 KDay radio hosts Tattoo and Cee Cee, Suge suggested that the rapper faked his own death.

Tupac’s Coachella Hologram Made Wiz Khalifa Uneasy

In a snippet of the interview which has surfaced online Knight rattles off his conspiracy theory about the 1996 murder. “People know what happened at the end of the day,” he started before he name checked Diddy and the Notorious B.I.G. and some other individuals who he purposely did not name.

“You got an individual on there who said, ‘Okay,’ we did this shooting. Puffy was there, Biggie was there. The hit was already paid for to kill Tupac, this is how it happened and they break everything down to a tee.”

Suge goes on to reference a Crip gang member who he says confessed to the murder. After questioning why said individual isn’t sitting in jail for the murder, Knight goes on to reveal his theory. “Then maybe the question is that ’Pac really not dead and ’Pac’s somewhere else and sh–,” he said before laughing. “I mean it’s the truth if you really look at it.

“Nobody seen Tupac dead,” he continued. The majority of Suge’s rant was incoherent, as he seemingly skated passed key points in his argument. To cap things off the embattled music figure then pointed to the man who was hired to handle Shakur’s cremation as some sort of central figure in the conspiracy. “This guy got about $3 million personally from me—cash. And next thing I know I never heard from the guy or seen him, he retried and left,” he said.

‘Possession’ First Look: Embrace Your Inner Evil

Yard sales are harmless. Normally, anyway. When you’re at a yard sale that just so happens to include an antique wooden box containing a horrible evil spirit, that’s when you’re in trouble. And that kind of trouble is most certainly brewing for young Em, seen below in your very first look at the new horror movie “Possession.”

The above photo, part of our Summer Movie Preview week, is our first and best look yet at “Possession,” the August-debuting thriller from producer Sam Raimi and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick. Based on true events, “Possession” tells the story of the Brenek family: father Clyde, mother Stephanie, and daughter Em. When Em purchases an ancient box at a nearby yard sale, she becomes obsessed with her new artifact, and with good reason — lurking inside is a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host. Not pretty.

“Possession” hits theaters on August 31, 2012.

Mixtape Daily: Mick Boogie Tributes Beastie Boys With Grand Royal

c4e95 grandroyal Mixtape Daily: Mick Boogie Tributes Beastie Boys With Grand Royal

In honor of the Beastie Boys being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last week, DJ Mick Boogie has rolled out his first mixtape tributing the legendary Brooklyn group. Grand Royal includes 80 minutes of his favorite Beastie Boys classics, remixes, demos, live versions and more. “The Beastie Boys changed my life as a kid. I was a young guy playing drums in his basement who taught myself how to be a hip-hop deejay,” Mick Boogie tells RapFix.

“Albums like Check Your Head went seamlessly from punk to jazz fusion to dusty, sample-filled hiphop. It shaped my whole musical identity.” Download here.

To make it an extra special experience the world renowned, Brooklyn-based DJ tapped his pal Jonathan Mannion (the legendary photographer behind 8 Jay-Z albums, 3 Eminem albums, Lil Wayne, Nas, Aaliyah, the list goes on and on) to re-shoot the iconic cover from the Beastie’s 1989 classic Paul’s Boutique.

“It’s difficult to sum up in one or two sentences the visual impact that the Beastie Boys had on popular culture,” Mannion tells RapFix. “For me it’s all about their relentless energy. They took creative chances and pushed the borders out a little farther then anyone had before giving a voice to a unique set of fringe listeners (punk rockers, skateboarders, drinkers / smokers, creative people, etc.) who responded so strongly to the still underground movement of hip hop. The Beastie Boys stand for something… they represent so much that was great about NYC… they are true originals and remain so to this day!”

This video above, shot by Sasha and Roman of CNNCTD, follows Mick Boogie and Mannion to the famous LES location where Paul’s Boutique was originally photographed. Mick Boogie also collaborated with Homage to do a limited-edition tee for the release, with portions of the proceeds going to Adam Yauch’s favorite cancer charities. Support the tee here.

Jay-Z Got Isla Fisher ‘Pumped Up’ For ‘Great Gatsby’

When you think F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jay-Z totally comes to mind, right? We didn’t think so. But that’s just one of the things that makes Baz Lurhmann an interesting director. When MTV News caught up with Isla Fischer on the set of “Now You See Me,” she told us working on the film was an “incredible luxury” and shared insight into the unique way Lurhmann helped the actors feel comfortable on set.

Jay Z Got Isla Fisher Pumped Up For Great Gatsby

“I had a great time. I loved it,” the Scottish actress told us about her “Gatsby” experience. “It was an incredible luxury. We did a play workshop that was three weeks long. Before we even started rehearsals we were immersed entirely in [the 1920's]. It was just the best experience ever.”

Literature fans were thrilled when it was announced another film adaptation of Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby” was in the works. Further, they became overjoyed with the news that Leonard DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Fischer were among the talented actors cast. And according to the Scottish actress, the stars of the film will not disappoint as Lurhmann’s direction helped ease the actors’ nerves.

“On my first day he had Jay-Z pumped up full and we did the entire scene with, you know, Jay-Z in our ear on full blast while acting and it was just so liberating,” Fischer said. “He really understands actors and how self-conscious we feel at times, and how exposed we are and how we never know where anything lands. Just the complexity of being vulnerable every minute when you’re acting and he just makes you feel so safe.”

We imagine being in the extremely capable hands of the man behind “Romeo + Juliet,” “Australia” and “Moulin Rouge” would make you feel very safe.

Kid Parodies Kanye West’s ‘Way Too Cold’ In Video Clip

By Gil Kaufman

Kanye West‘s most recent solo single has already had a name change, switching from “Theraflu” to “Way too Cold,” (complete with amended artwork) and there’s been no word on when or if Ye will drop a video to accompany it. If he does, it’s sure to be quite artistic, so in the meantime, be entertained by this “Way Too Cold” rendition from a little boy named Caleb, who has just as much–if not more–swag than Mr. West.

Director Ashley Smith posted the unofficial clip for the song on his Vimeo page on Thursday that, well, just kills it. The can’t-look-away video stars a ridiculously cute half-pintreportedly named Caleb as Kanye and the kid is a star. As he struts the streets with his leggy blonde companion (holding her hand at first, awwww), mini ‘Ye rips the song’s lyrics, yes, even the four-and five-letter ones in a video that is the viral opposite of one of West’s typically high-concept, arty pieces.

His swagger is unmistakable as he moves through Manhattan past some of Yeezy’s favorite luxury New York outlets while his companion shakes it for him. All the while, Caleb keeps it cool behind some shades and a mini leather jacket, aping the lyrics by throwing up the Roc to prove his allegiance.

And, then, for reasons known only to Smith, actors wearing Donald Trump, Condoleezza Rice, Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush and Sarah Palin masks pop up, posing menacingly on the street, that is when they’re not grinding on each other. How ridiculous is the kid? At one point he pulls off a flawless split, his hand triumphantly up in the air before breaking into a coughing fit as Theraflu pours out into a measuring cup.

The good news is that Smith might have plenty more material to choose from, since DJ Khaled recently told MTV News that he and Kanye have plenty more tracks cooking.

“Me and Kanye West went back in the lab and we made another record and got some features on there too,” Khaled said, without revealing too much about the next tune. “I can’t really talk about it, so expect another monstrous earthquake to hit the streets.”
