A little over a week ago Kanye West announced that he would be remixing the (infectious) track “I Don’t Like” from Chicago rapper Chief Keef, simply by tweeting “GOOD MUSIC CHIEF KEEF REMIX” and including artwork which noted Pusha T, Big Sean and Jadakiss as features. The track dropped on Tuesday (May 1) and the up-and-coming Chitown native just got a major co-sign by having Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music team and Lox veteran Jadakiss drop their verses on his track. Listen below.

A sample of Kanye on the track: “The media crucify me like they did Christ / They wanna find me not breathing like they found Mike / A girl that run her mouth only out of spite / But I never hit a woman, never in my life.”

Get To Know More About Chief Keef

Listen up and keep an eye on Chief Keef. Shortly after Ye announced that he would be remixing “I Don’t Like,” the 16-year-old tweeted that Birdman had reached out in an effort to sign him to Cash Money records. Soulja Boy’s SODMG click has also reached out to him, and it’s rumored that Bad Boy and Def Jam have expressed interest in the young rapper as well.

Prodigy And B.o.B. Set For ‘RapFix Live’

By Rob Markman

There are a few Strange Clouds in the forecast for this week’s episode of “RapFix Live.”  B.o.B will hit MTV News’ weekly hip-hop talk show, along with Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy.

On Tuesday (May 1), Bobby Ray released his sophomore LPStrange Clouds, and on Wednesday, he will appear on “RFL” to talk about his journey thus far. “This next album is like a culmination of everything combined, and I feel like that’s really why I’m so excited about it and eager to put it out because I’m just ready to get back on the court with it,” B.o.B told MTV News of his second album months before it dropped.

It was the Lil Wayne-assisted title track that served as the first single fromStrange Clouds, but before he released his Adventures of Bobby Rayfollow-up, Bob dropped another single, the sing-songy “So Good.” The catchy love song has already cracked the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album, which was released on T.I.’s Grand Hustle record label, features not only Tip, but also Chris Brown, Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj.

Bobby Ray isn’t the only rap star who will be holding court on “RapFix” this week: Mobb Deep‘s Prodigy will be making his way to the red couch to give Sway the latest Mobb updates and to debut his brand-new single live on the show.

Things got a little rocky for Mobb Deep after reports of a rift between the group surfaced thanks to some pretty harsh tweets sent from Havoc’s account. All the drama has since been cleared up; the troubling tweets were sent after Hav lost his phone at a gas station and a prankster gained access to his social-networking passwords. Rather than run from the drama, Prodigy said he plans to use the negative publicity to his advantage. So, with a new project in the works, the H.N.I.C. is ready to take the next step in his infamous career.

If that isn’t enough, host Sway will take you behind the scenes on two major hip-hop videos. First, we have an exclusive sneak peek of DJ Khaled‘s “Take It to the Head” video featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown. Then we will also roll out clips detailing the making of Nas’ latest video “The Don.” You’re not going to want to miss this.

Catch B.o.B, Prodigy and DJ Khaled on “RapFix Live” on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com, and be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RapFixLive. Send your questions for the artists @MTVRapFix!

35fef 2chainz1 2 Chainz Drops No Lie Feat. Drake (Based On A T.R.U. Story)

On his solo debut album 2 Chainz promises to give the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so it’s appropriate that the LP’s lead single is titled “No Lie.” 2 Chainz revealed the artwork for “No Lie” on Monday night, and today we have the full track, complete with a feature from Drake. The new cut, with a beat courtesy of Mike Will, is the first single from the Atlanta rapper’s upcoming Def Jam debut Based on a T.R.U. Story. Listen below.

“I’m working with people like Kanye, of course. I’m in a good creative space right now,” Deuce recently MTV News about his mindset while putting the finishing touches on Based on a T.R.U. Story. “I’m able to get my hands on a lot of things that I need. I have access to a lot of artists right now. I have great production.”

“You can expect a lot of surprises. I like to bring the element of surprise back in hip-hop; bring the enjoyment and anticipation,” he said. Fans will have to wait until August 14 to get their hands on the LP, but “No Lie” gives a first taste. “I don’t wanna leak a record right now, I’m doing so many features and ‘Riot’ is doing so well, I don’t want to cause any kind of confusion.”

Snarf that Scarf: Gaming’s Coolest Scarves

Hipsters. Fashionistas. Grandmothers. These folks come to mind when you think of scarves in the real world — not exactly an enviable group, by any means. But in the land of video games, only the baddest of asses don these squirrely pieces of woven fabric. Sure, your average video game protagonist may be protected by high-powered armor, or equipped with latest in devastating weaponry, but it takes someone with real guts to save the world while rocking a swanky scarf as the centerpiece of their ensemble.

Neurotic ninjas, femme fatales, space gunslingers — just a few of the hero archetypes that prove wearing a scarf in the world of video games is not only a fashion statement, it’s a sign of awesomeness.

Hotsuma

Shinobi

Ninjas are best known for their stealthy antics: they wear dark clothes, hide in the shadows to avoid detection, and use weapons such as blow darts and shurikens to strike silently.

Hotsuma, the star of Sega’s 2002 Shinobi, did not have stealth in mind when designing his garb — in fact, I’m pretty sure he intended to draw direct attention to his neckwear. This bright red fashion accessory would draw the eyes of any onlookers, even during the darkest of nights — provided Hotsuma hasn’t already gouged them out with his sword. Still, being so stylish often has its downsides; enemies could easily use that red bolt of fabric to trace Hotsuma’s movements from a mile away.

Tali’Zorath nar Rayya

Mass Effect

To know a veil is to know a scarf, and Tali’Zorath has both on lockdown. The quarian race: best known for its weak immune system, atrophied by years of life aboard the sterile Migrant Fleet. They wear complex suits to protect themselves from the full spectrum of different diseases that make their way around the Citadel (and Shepard’s bedroom).

Tali’Zorath mixes a combination of bleeding-edge technology in her suit and veil with a traditional scarf/hood combination. This blending of alien cybernetics and old-school fashion sense makes her a notable and memorable character in the Mass Effect universe.

Rose

Street Fighter Alpha

Street Fighter’s Rose is one of the few characters on this list who dons a scarf for reasons beyond making a fashion statement — it also contributes to her fighting style. She can imbue her golden neckwear with soul power — the counterpart to M. Bison’s psycho power — and use this versatile piece of fabric as a way to attack her opponents.

Of course, the flowing scarf also complements her slim form, acting as the ultimate mix between havoc-wreaking weapon and sophisticated accessory.

Emmett Graves

Starhawk

Space is a dangerous place. In addition to the ever-present alien threat, a myriad of environmental threats pose some serious hazards for humans — namely, the lack of oxygen. Most protagonists don high-tech spacesuits before even thinking about entering the void.

Enter Emmett Graves, hero of the upcoming Starhawk, who casts all those safety precautions aside and instead rocks a fashionably disheveled scarf. The red-and-white checkered shawl may not serve much of a purpose when it comes to Graves’ day job as a miner, but it certainly makes him look badass while administering annihilation to mutant space aliens.

Black Ops II Takes Call of Duty Into the (Near) Future

Black Ops II Takes Call of Duty Into the (Near) Future

Ahead of the world reveal scheduled to take place tonight during the NBA Playoffs, Black Ops II has already been confirmed as the next game in the Call of Duty series. This was expected to be the case at least as far back as February, although we now have some firm details we could only guess at previously.

It has since been pulled, but for a brief period of time the U.K. website for Black Ops II was online. A November 13 release date was listed alongside a description that fills us in on the basic setup for the game: “Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.” A few screenshots were leaked (via Kotaku) as a result of the site’s premature launch giving us a look at the quadrotor seen in an FPS Russia video the official Call of Duty site has been linking to recently. The preview image for tonight’s reveal trailer on YouTube, which was uploaded privately and could not be watched, shows skyscrapers burning in the background in a scene that would not have been out of place in Modern Warfare 3.

This is a significant departure from what Treyarch has worked on in the past. Call of Duty started out as a series focused on World War II; when Infinity Ward moved beyond that setting and into the present day, Treyarch’s biannual releases stuck with WWII for a bit longer before moving into the Cold War. It was presumed by many that Black Ops, given its success, would receive a numbered sequel set sometime during the Cold War, perhaps in the 1970s. Leapfrogging Modern Warfare and setting Black Ops II in the near future — the FPS Russia video notes technology like the quadrotor could be seen a decade from now — blurs the line between the two sub-series.

With the games from both developers running on the same engine, it’s not as if they play any differently on a basic level. The major distinction between the two series, setting aside (and the elements that come along with that, like the weapons at players’ disposal), has been Modern Warfare‘s cooperative Spec Ops mode and Black Ops/World at War‘s Zombies mode. It’s smart to trade the modes off from year to year so neither wears out its welcome as soon as they would if they were seen annually, but I don’t think either is enough to warrant the continued existence of the two sub-series if Black Ops is no longer going to be set several decades earlier.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun jokingly referred to the new game as Call of Duty 9: Black Ops 2: Modern Warfare 4 earlier today, and it does sort of feel that way — unless Black Ops 2 is set significantly further into the future than the early info suggests, Activision runs the risk of blending the two sub-series together to the point where ‘Modern Warfare‘ and ‘Black Ops‘ no longer mean anything. The leaked screenshots hardly make it look as if BLOPS II is the futuristic space game there has been talk of for years

Black Ops II Takes Call of Duty Into the (Near) Future

The consistency established within these sub-series would appear to be gone. Are Black Ops games now going to jump around with the time period they are set in, or are the next few locked in to near-future settings? Does Sledgehammer‘s action/adventure game return and take the Treyarch games’ former position as the Call of Duty sub-series set in the past? There are a lot of questions that now emerge with Activision straying from its existing model of Treyarch developing games set in decades past and Infinity Ward taking on the modern era. At some point does the series branch out even further into the future, or is Activision aware the franchise made it big when it entered the modern era with Call of Duty 4 and that its fan may not care to see anything approaching science fiction being introduced?

Call of Duty’s main competitor, Battlefield, did venture into the future with one release, Battlefield 2142. Jumping that far into the future gave DICE the creative freedom to go wild the technology and weapons it created, which was fun. However, it’s telling that it has yet to return to that well and has only abstractly teased something to do with a sequel (which may only be BF3 DLC, if anything). Since 2142′s release, Battlefield has largely made use of a present day setting, returning to both World War II (Battlefield 1943) and Vietnam (Bad Company 2‘s Vietnam expansion pack) while refusing to go into the the future again.

The reason for this might be demonstrated by the relative popularity of Halo and Call of Duty. CoD has long since passed Halo by, and the reason for that is because there is a much larger market for more realistic, modern day shooters than there are shooters with sci-fi settings. A large part of that is because modern-day shooters have an appeal capable of pulling in more casual gamers who buy only one or two games per year. It’s possible developers can only stray so far into the future before losing a percentage of those fans, although it would be interesting to see how a full-blown futuristic CoD game would do and how much the Call of Duty brand really means.

Based on what little we’ve seen, it doesn’t look as if we’ll find that out this time around, nor does Activision have to worry about turning people off by BLOPS II jumping too far ahead in time. It remains to be seen exactly how this game will differentiate itself from Modern Warfare and whether there remains any reason to identify the two developers’ games with their own respective sub-series beyond not wanting to use a name like ‘Call of Duty 9.’ The trailer debuting on TNT during tonight’s basketball game should give us a better indication, although with there being a lot of time remaining between now and November, and an appearance during Microsoft’s E3 press conference looking likely once again, don’t expect Activision to go all out with our first official glimpse of the game.

Exclusive ‘Haywire’ Featurette: Michael Fassbender On The ‘Old School’ Vibe

There are few things we love more than Michael Fassbender, but as we learned while watching “Haywire,” seeing Gina Carano beat the crap out of him is truly something special.

To celebrate the release of “Haywire” on Blu-ray and DVD, we have an exclusive clip from the featurette “The Men of ‘Haywire,’” starring none other than the Fassbender himself.

In the clip, Fassbender explains what he enjoyed most about the ultra-cool screenplay for the film. “What I like from the script is all the stuff that’s not said, the intrigue,” he says. “I got an old school espionage-type film, like an old spy thriller, going back to the early 80s, from what I can remember of my childhood. That’s the feel I got from it, although it’s set in a modern context.”

Director Steven Soderbergh gets a lot of the credit in Fassbender’s book. The actor complemented Soderbergh’s ability to control the mood on set, while letting each scene breathe and grow. “Of course Steven’s so skilled that he brings a real air of confidence on set and makes everyone feel confident and relaxed,” he says. “We discover scenes as we go, the tone of it, the color of it and what sort of pitch. We want to set the scenes as ever-changing. It happens very organically.”

“Haywire” is out on Blu-ray and DVD now.

What did you think of the “Haywire” featurette? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!
