Azealia Banks And Angel Haze Make Peace After Twitter Beef

Azealia Banks And Angel Haze Make Peace After Twitter Beef

By Caitlin Beck

Another Twitter battle has come to an end. Last December, rappers Azealia Banks and Angel Haze began exchanging words over Twitter after Banks tweeted, “Seriously, if you were not born and raised in NY…. DON’T CLAIM NY. YOU ARE NOT A NEW YORKER.” Since Haze has a song entitled “New York” she assumed that the tweet was aimed at her, and so the feud began.

Although the NY based rappers accused each other of deleting tweets and exchanging harsh words and diss songs, at least some good music came from this feud. Haze released a track first called, “On the Edge.” The tracks cover art was a close up of Banks face along with private text that the two had exchanged. In response Banks released “No Problems” and finally Haze released the last diss track, “Shut the F— Up.

Since January it seems like the two have put the feud to rest and instead focused on their music. In an interview at SXSW Haze said, “As far as I’m concerned, it’s totally over. I don’t really care about it and I wish her the utmost success, and it shouldn’t have happened on such a public platform, so that’s all I regret.”

Azealia responded, again using Twitter by saying, “@angelhaze thanks for being nice in ur interview beotch. I know you don’t hate me Azealia Banks And Angel Haze Make Peace After Twitter Beef .”

Since the feud Angel has been busy working on her debut album, Dirty Gold. “I like to record in a form that I have a surplus of stuff to choose from, so once I have all that done, then I’m pretty sure I’ll be good.” So far Angel has recorded 13 tracks for Dirty Gold which will be released this summer.

Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” In Copyright Battle

Baauers Harlem Shake In Copyright Battle

Baauer##Q##s “Harlem Shake” may be cooling down as a viral sensation, but copyright claims against the buzzy track are only heating up from two musicians who say that the song features unlicensed samples of their music. According to the New York Times Hector Delgado, a former reggaeton artist, and Philadelphia rapper Jayson Musson, of the Plastic Little rap crew, are claiming that “Harlem Shake” uses their voices without permission and they want compensation.

Delgado provides the “Con los terroristas!” scream at the beginning of the song, and throughout, while Musson##Q##s “Do the Harlem Shake” repeats during the refrain. “It##Q##s almost like they came on my land and built a house,” Delgado told the paper.

Baauer himself has yet to comment on the copyright allegations.

The track topped the Billboard 100 charts for three weeks and has over 816,000 downloads to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It was originally available as a free download in May 2012, then as part of a paid EP in June.

This year, the song spawned a plethora of viral videos featuring everyone from LeBron James and the Miami Heat to Angie Martinez and her Hot 97 crew. Several rappers have remixed the song including Azealia Banks and Jim Jones.

Jones revealed recently, that he had recorded over the beat last year and was originally going to keep the song for himself. “Actually, that record was mine for a year, I had that record a year ago and I never was… It was supposed to be for Pauly D##Q##s album and we never did nothing with it,” he said. “When I started to hear the ##Q##Harlem Shake##Q## and heard the beat, I was like damn, I had the record for a year. So I just put the record out. I been had that record before anybody even thought about that record. It was a record for Pauly D##Q##s album from ##Q##Jersey Shore.##Q##”

Azealia Banks Continues Twitter Tirade With Rita Ora

Azealia Banks Continues Twitter Tirade With Rita Ora

We all know Azealia Banks is not afraid to speak her mind and her most recent beef is with singer Rita Ora. They are both traveling on the Future Music Festival bill in Australia and it became clear that the two can’t be in close quarters without some sort of trouble stirring. The exchange between the two went down through Twitter and text messages.

“Lol Rita Ora is so thirsty,” tweeted Banks. “She climbed over the wall of my dancers dressing room to snap photos. She##Q##s been TRYING IT on this tour man…..” Banks didn’t stop there, she went on to tweet, “She’s mad she’s Rihanna’s understudy.”

Ora decided to text Azealia directly but, of course, Banks took screen shots of the conversation and posted them on her Instagram account along with the caption “Shut Up Rita Oral.”

“At the end of the day I don##Q##t know who the f**k u think you are scondly u dont know me I##Q##ve done nothin but try b nice to u 3rdly ur dancers were talkn to me further more ill see ur ass at the motherf***in concert,” Rita fired back.

Not surprisingly, the Atlantis rapper did not take this one sitting down. She responded with, “Ever since I arrived on this tour Rita##Q##s been going out of her way to try and intimidate me. Taking all these candids of me when I wasn##Q##t looking, then posting and deleting them like a weak bitch,” Banks continued. “Now I##Q##m just taking the piss….”

So is this the end of round one? Given Banks’ “firestarter” tendencies this may not be the last we hear from her.

Jim Jones Originally Had Baauer’s ‘Harlem Shake’ Beat

By Sowmya Krishnamurthy

Baauer##Q##s “Harlem Shake” has spawned numerous viral videos and remix tracks from the likes of the Miami Heat to real Harlem natives like Azealia Banks and Jim Jones. Now, Jimmy is revealing that he recorded a song over the “Harlem Shake” beat well before the new craze began.

In a new interview with radio##Q##s Jenny Boom Boom, Jim said that he recorded the track for Pauly D of Jersey Shore##Q##s album. “Actually, that record was mine for a year, I had that record a year ago and I never was… It was supposed to be for Pauly D##Q##s album and we never did nothing with it,” said Jones.

Jimmy eventually dropped his own version although he had it first.

Pauly D##Q##s album has no release date but the DJ released “Back to Love” with Jay Sean this year and “Night of My Life” featuring Dash in 2012.

Beyonce Finally Working With Rihanna On New Album?

Beyonce Finally Working With Rihanna On New Album?

Are Beyonce and Rihanna finally appearing on an official track together? A tracklist that##Q##s being pegged to Beyonce##Q##s fifth album hit the web yesterday, and while some sources dispute that it##Q##s legitimate, MTV News reached out to Beyonce##Q##s camp, but they wouldn##Q##t issue a comment. If the tracklist is for real, it boasts features from Rih, Lady Gaga, Azealia Banks, Justin Timberlake and more.

In addition to the appearance of ##Q##Ratchet##Q## which has been the talk of the town since Bey sported her ##Q##ratchet##Q## earrings, there appears to be a song with Rihanna called “Dance (I##Q##m Soon Over).” Although Bey and Rih are practically family at this point, having Jay-Z in common, they haven##Q##t been featured on each other##Q##s albums as yet.

We wonder if Rihanna got an invite to the crib too? Beyonce told Vogue that she set up a chill atmosphere last summer when she invited artists like Justin Timberlake and Timbaland out to the Hamptons last year as she recorded. “We had dinners with the producers every day, like a family,” she said. “It was like a camp — weekends off. You could go and jump in the pool and ride bikes … the ocean and grass and sunshine. … It was really a safe place.”

Azealia Banks Takes On ‘Harlem Shake’ Producer And Perez Hilton (Again)

Azealia Banks Takes On Harlem Shake Producer And Perez Hilton (Again)

By Sidney Madden

Tisk tisk, Azealia Banks is at it again. We all know by now that the Harlem MC with the hard shell is not one to back down from a fight. And now, her current tiff involves stepping on toes and challenging social stigmas.

After she postponed the release of her “Yung Rapunxel” record (which was set to drop on Tuesday, February 12), Banks decided to give her fans something new to chew on while she finalized the track. And what better to rhyme over than the bass heavy house beat bearing the name of her hometown, “Harlem Shake” by producer Baauer.

Baauer’s hit had previously gone viral on YouTube with military, pro sports teams and college co-eds rocking out in mass mobs to the first thirty seconds. (a popular example).

Banks released the track titled “Harlem Shake (Azealia Banks Remix)” at around 11 pm last night as a little VDay gift for her following and coyly tweeted “What Kind Of Harlemite Would I Be If I Didn’t?”. The artist released her version for free download on soundcloud.com . Needless to say, the remix exploded just as soon as it was released. Banks’s energetic verses were so massively received, they caught the attention of the original mix master, Baauer, but not in the good way.

Baauer had Banks’s version taken down from SoundCloud because he felt she was overstepping her bounds by rhyming on the beat without permission. Upon learning this, Banks’s tweeted directly at the producer asking, “@baauer why you c—blockin tho? Lmaoo” to which he answered “@AZEALIABANKS because it’s not your song lol”. It’s at this moment when all jokes were set aside and Azealia’s big guns came out with the reply “@baauer you’re a p—y. You don’t belong in hip hop.” At that point, all rules of Twitter etiquette were thrown out the window (as if they weren’t already).

These fighting words caught the attention of one of Bank’s old enemies, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, and the quarrel quickly turned into a threesome, and not in the good way.

Hilton took the side of Baauer, tweeting “@AZEALIABANKS How does it feel to be better known for all your trash-talking than your music, Azealia? #TeamBauuer” to which Banks’s harshly replied “@PerezHilton What does my p—y taste like perez?”

The rest of the convo played out like a game of dirty ad-libs with each counterpart referring to each other’s genitals and cowardice personalities until Azealia dropped a bomb, the f-bomb to be eaxct, deeming Hilton an “evil f—-t”. Banks is now a repeat offender in calling Perez the slur.

From there Hilton answered “@AZEALIABANKS There you go again with the F word. Showing your true colors. You are so parched.” Attempting to clarify, Banks explained that she uses the word to mean something other than a derogatory homosexual slur—something more like a male (gay or straight) who acts as catty as a female; an “energy stealer, blood sucker, coward”. She even prompted an open question to her fans to define the word.

After multiple retweets and subtweets, Perez went back to promoting his site’s stories and Azealia tweeted “You give me free speech and then tell me what I can and cannot say???” and “Let’s just all agree to disagree.”

Was this the best resolution to the issue of artist sampling at hand? Probably not. But it was undoubtedly much more publicity for all parties involved. And Azealia’s “Harlem Shake” remix is still available here.

Azealia Banks beefs with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.

Azealia Banks cannot seem to play nice this week, as the rapper has gotten into another feud on Twitter.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton appeared to side with Angel Haze after she and Banks exchanged words earlier in the week.

At some point, Azealia called Hilton, who is a gay male, a “messy faggot,” after which she qualified that a “faggot is not a homosexual male. A faggot is any male who acts like a female.”

Below is a portion of the feud:
