Blue Ivy Joins Beyoncé On Stage in London

Blue Ivy Joins Beyoncé On Stage in London

by Maurice Bobb

Judging by her recent appearance on stage with her mother Beyoncé at London’s O2 Arena for May 4 stop on the Mrs. Carter Show world tour, Blue Ivy Carter is adjusting nicely to her transition from “A Star Is Born” to “A Star In The Making.”

Jay-Z’s precious little girl took the stage with the “Bow Down / I Been On” chanteuse during her performance of “Irreplacable,” from her second studio album, B’Day.

The Queen of the BeyHive, dressed in a shimmering blue catsuit, engaged the capacity crowd, powering through her vocals as usual. But the highlight of the song was when she reached out for her 15-month old daughter’s hand and sang the song’s refrain.  It was a rare tender moment between mother and daughter shared onstage with her 20,000 plus fans.

Blue Ivy wore a cute white dress and, of course, protective headphones so the booming bass and acoustics would not damage her sensitive toddler ears.

Check out the tender moment at the 5:45 mark in the video, courtesy of VIBE, below:

Beyonce Admits To GQ: ‘Yes, I Am Powerful’

The wait for the much-buzzed-about Beyoncé GQ cover story is officially over!

After the saucy cover leaked online earlier than planned, the folks over at the magazine realized people needed the Queen B spread ASAP and have released some of the goods from the photo shoot and interview with the superstar on GQ.com.

The interview and sexy photos make it pretty clear that Beyoncé is feeling the best she’s ever felt in life and is ready to fully conquer the world. She has kicked off the year in fine fashion, celebrating the first birthday of daughter Blue Ivy Carter and prepping for her performance at the Super Bowl halftime show and her fifth solo album.

“I worked so hard during my childhood to meet this goal: By the time I was 30 years old, I could do what I want,” she told the magazine. “I’ve reached that. I feel very fortunate to be in that position. But I’ve sacrificed a lot of things, and I’ve worked harder than probably anyone I know, at least in the music industry. So I just have to remind myself that I deserve it.”

Beyoncé said she’s especially excited for her Super Bowl performance because she’s always approached her job like an athlete does.

“You know how they sit down and watch whoever they’re going to play and study themselves? That’s how I treat this,” she said. “I watch my performances, and I wish I could just enjoy them, but I see the light that was late. I see, ‘Oh God, that hair did not work.’ Or ‘I should never do that again.’ I try to perfect myself. I want to grow, and I’m always eager for new information.”

How does Beyoncé’s GQ cover compare to Rihanna’s?

We all know she’s a private person, but Beyoncé does admit that she was “lost” — in a good way — before becoming a mom.

“I love my job, but it’s more than that: I need it,” she said. “Because before I gave birth, it was the only time in my life, all throughout my life, that I was lost.”

More than a decade into her music career, Beyoncé says she is fully (and finally!) aware of her influence, managing her larger-than-life public image and her brand.

“I now know that, yes, I am powerful,” she said. “I’m more powerful than my mind can even digest and understand.”

[News] The Hip Hop Week In Review: Kanye West & Kim Kardashian Announce Pregnancy, Angel Haze & Azealia Banks Beef

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian revealed that they have a bun in the oven, while Angel Haze and Azealia Banks sparred. Lil Wayne got a new face tattoo.

This week, Kanye West made a special announcement during one of his shows at Atlantic City, New Jersey’s Revel: that he and Kim Kardashian are expecting a baby. ‘Ye, who celebrated New Year’s Eve with Kardashian in Las Vegas, Nevada, also went on a rant about the Grammy Awards during one of his shows, and took the stage wearing unusual face masks. Meanwhile, things got ugly on Twitter after Angel Haze responded to Azealia Banks‘ tweet that rappers who aren’t from New York shouldn’t claim that they are. Insults were hurled, and diss songs were released. The war wages on. And finally, Lil Wayne got some new ink on his face, tattooing the word “Baked” across his forehead.

Kanye West Kim Kardashian Announce Pregnancy

Looks like Blue Ivy Carter is going to have a playmate arriving within the next nine months. While performing at Atlantic City, New Jersey’s Revel on New Year’s Eve, Kanye West paused the show to make the announcement that he and Kim Kardashian are pregnant with their first child. “We couldn’t be more excited,” said Kardashian at a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas, Nevada. “It’s a new year, new beginnings. It’s going to be a really fun year. I feel really content, calm and happy. I think it’s gonna be amazing year and I wish that for everyone.” While the baby announcement took the focus, ‘Ye also received attention at his shows for wearing fashionable masks – one coated with feathers, the other encrusted with jewels – and slamming the Grammy Awards.

Azealia Banks Angel Haze Beef, Take Issues Offline

Azealia Banks and Angel Haze got into it on Twitter this week, taking their spat offline with a trio of diss tracks. It all started when Haze interpreted Banks’ tweets that artists who are not from New York can’t claim New York as a direct sleight. Insults started to fly, with each rapper taking nasty swipes at one another. Haze called her a “charcoal skinned bitch,” while Banks said that she was just expressing “her Azealia Banks jealousy.” It got heated up when Haze dropped her diss track “On the Edge” that Banks claims was recorded in 2012, responding with her own song “No Problems.” The fight continued on Twitter, and yesterday, Haze dropped the third and presumable final track in the diss series, “Shut the Fuck Up.”

Lil Wayne Gets “Baked” With New Forehead Tattoo

Lil Wayne caused a bit of a stir this week after he added some new ink to his growing collection of tattoos. Weezy, who dropped a new track “Rich as Fuck” featuring 2 Chainz, headed to the tattoo shop to get the word “Baked” inscribed on his forehead, with each letter contained in a series of boxes. The tattoo was a hat-tip to skateboarding company Baker Skateboards, which uses the design as its logo. This marks yet another milestone in the YMCMB honcho’s love for skateboarding. In fact, a few months back, he said that he would put Rap on the backburner to pursue his hobby full time. “I picked up the skateboard and I thought it would be a hobby, but it’s a lifestyle. You have to be fully committed. In order to be fully committed, you have to live that lifestyle. What these young kids say right now, you have to be about that life. I guess I’m about that life,” he said. “It’s kinda putting rap on the backburner, that’s all. Rap is a taking backseat to skating. That’s alright. But I kind of feel I deserve that. … I think fans deserve some peace from me.”

Beyonce Joins Instagram, Gives Obama One Last Boost

Are you looking for someone new to follow on Instagram? Someone famous and talented and fabulous? Look no further than the photo-sharing site’s newest member, Beyonce Knowles. The pop star made her presence known on the social-media site Tuesday (November 6) with an introductory post full of personality.

Hey Instagram, it’s me Bey,” she posted, along with a sassy photo that shows a casually dressed and not heavily made up Knowles wearing black-rimmed glasses, her hair pulled up into a messy bun, making a scrunched-up face and pointing to her T-shirt that reads “Texans for Obama.” Bey also posted her Instagram announcement on her website, asking fans to follow her under the username BaddieBey.

Knowles has really been in the politically themed social-media spirit lately. On Monday, she took to her Tumblr to post a heartfelt handwritten note to President Obama expressing her “respect and admiration” for the POTUS. Queen B and her husband have been very enthusiastic in expressing their support of Obama recently, hosting fundraisers and literally singing about it, via Jay-Z’s performance of a remixed version of “99 Problems” at an Obama rally in Columbus, Ohio.

We’re live from Romney and Obama’s campaign headquarters!

Speaking of Bey’s activity on social media, her lighthearted introductory photo announcing her Instagram account is similar to when she launched her Tumblr site back in April with her first-ever tweet. The photos added to her Tumblr offered fans a unique glimpse into Bey’s private life, the details of which the pop star has always been shy about sharing, including photos of her baby, Blue Ivy Carter.

Kelly Clarkson is an avowed “Obama girl” — even though her boyfriend backs Romney.

Beyonce At The Super Bowl: Our Halftime Game Plan!

Beyoncé must be looking forward to her upcoming performance at the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show, because she updated her Tumblr and website with an up-close shot, showing off her football face paint marked “Feb 3″ and “2013″ under each eye. At this point, it’s almost a guarantee that when B hits the stage, fans are in for an unforgettable show.

But how can she outdo herself this time? MTV News came up with a wish list for when Beyoncé hits the gridiron in New Orleans.

Destiny’s Child Reunion
Fans have been begging for this reunion for years, with rumors surfacing every so often that Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams are actually planning to release new music or get back on the road together. While none of it has proven true just yet, what better place to get the band back together than on the Super Bowl stage? For all involved parties, it would be less labor-intensive than planning an all-out tour, plus, no fans would be able to complain about missing the nationally televised performance.

Solange Knowles Cameo
Solange is known for being free-spirited and having her own shine outside of her big sister’s superstar shadow, but with a new album on the way (led by first single “Losing You”), a Solange cameo doesn’t seem too farfetched. Not only will it give her a chance to let a wider audience known she plans to drop an album soon, but she’ll also get to show America that Bey isn’t the only family member who can break it down on the dance floor.

Jay-Z Duet
Jay-Z and Beyoncé have been coupled up for a decade now, and while they try to keep the joint performances to a minimum — it was rumored that she would perform at her husband’s Made in America festival last month but remained a spectator instead — how could Hov, as a sports fanatic, possibly miss a chance to perform with his wife at one of the most-watched events on TV? He recently brought her to the stage in Brooklyn, and they definitely have the resources to whip up a new track specifically tailored to the Super Bowl festivities.

Debut a New Song
Just a few months after her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, was born, Beyoncé was reportedly back in the studio working on her fifth album. Not even a snippet of new music has been revealed just yet, but with Beyoncé’s work ethic, we’re sure that by February, she’ll have at least a few tracks in the bag. Can we get a preview during halftime, Bey?

New Orleans Tribute With Frank Ocean
Frank Ocean worked with Beyoncé on her most recent album, 4, and we wouldn’t be surprised if they were teaming up once again for her latest project. Super Bowl XLVII will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, a monumental event for the city that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Frank Ocean just so happens to be a native of New Orleans — he played his first solo show at the House of Blues in NOLA late last year — and it seems fitting that he should make a grand return to his hometown, after the successful release of his debut album, Channel Orange.

What do you want to see from Beyonc233; during her halftime performance? Share your wish list in the comments!

Jay-Z Gives Meek Mill Thumbs Up For Dreams And Nightmares

By Carolyn Amurao

It’s an understatement to say that Jay-Z stays busy, but in between throwing fundraisers for President Obama, promoting NBA 2K13 and performing at Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center (not to mention co-parenting Blue Ivy Carter with Beyonce), the king of rap still has time to check out the latest music – Meek Mill’s upcoming album Dreams and Nightmares to be exact.

On Thursday (October 4), Meek tweeted: “Letting #hov @_youngchris listen 2 #dreamsandnightmares wen hov tell ya sh– hot….it’s hot!” Yeah, we agree: when Jay-Z tells you he likes your music you must be doing something right, but while it’s safe trust Hov’s taste, we’ll have to wait until October 30 (the album’s release date) to make our final assessment.

Other artists such as fellow Maybach Music MC Wale have also approved of the Philly rapper’s debut, which features big names like Nas, Rick Ross, John Legend and Mary J. Blige. “He’s in a good spot; he’s making incredible music,” he told MTV News recently. He even said that it’s a “special moment” for Meek, who wants to make history with this album.

“I want to have a classic album, an Illmatic, a Hard Knock Life, Get Rich or Die Tryin’ type of album,” Meek told music station Wild 94.9. It’s an ambitious goal but, hey, he already has support from both his peers and Hov himself.

Beyonce Pregnancy Rumors Heat Up

dbb5d bey Beyonce Pregnancy Rumors Heat Up

Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z made an appearance at a new restaurant and lounge in Manhattan last weekend to promote the Hov endorsed D’usse cognac, and that quick outing sparked rumors that the superstar mom has another baby on the way.

Bey wore a curve-hugging Roberto Cavalli dress, and as pictures from the event began to circulate, speculation arose that she was expecting again. The 31-year-old welcomed her first daughter Blue Ivy Carter just 8 months ago, and she’s said to be working on a new album, and according to recent interviews she seemed to have no plans for a new addition to the family right now.

The PR firm responsible for sharing photos of the event have spoken out to say that Bey was not showing a baby bump, while the Daily Mail reports that she was seen sipping on D’usse cognac at the event.

Her mom Tina Knowles, as always, has denied the rumors. “It’s gonna happen when it’s time, but not right now,” Tina told Access Hollywood via Entertainmentwise. “Of course I [want more grandchildren] though! I harass [Beyoncé] all the time.”

Beyonce To Direct And Star In Feature Documentary?

Beyoncé is one of the most thrilling multi-hyphenate superstars in the game, and now she’s looking to pad her already-stacked résumé with another title: director. The pop diva is reportedly shopping a documentary feature about her life and career that she will star in, direct and produce.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Beyoncé’s agents at ICM are looking for distribution for a documentary focusing on her life and career that would blend performance footage with confessional interviews. A source close to the film, who was not authorized to talk about it publicly, revealed that 20 minutes of footage has been shown to prospective distributors.

Beyoncé previously starred in, but did not direct, “Beyoncé: Year of 4, a reflective MTV documentary that chronicled the star’s return to the studio to make her hit 2011 album 4 after taking a year off. “My life was award shows and tour buses and hotels, and it kind of goes by so fast. I couldn’t even hear it anymore,” she says in the film. “It was very risky for me to set out on my own. Sometimes we don’t reach for the stars, sometimes we are satisfied with what people tell us we’re supposed to be satisfied with, and I’m just not going for it.”

Much has happened in the year-plus since “Year of 4” was produced for the star to explore in a feature-length film.
Behind the scenes, she took control of her career, parting ways professionally with her longtime manager, father Mathew Knowles, in March 2011. A few months later, in June, she released her hit album 4.

In August 2011, Beyoncé revealed at the MTV Video Music Awards that she was expecting her first child with husband Jay-Z. The couple welcomed a daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, in January. She made her return to the stage in May with a series of concerts at the Revel resort in Atlantic City, and rumors abound that she is hard at work on new material. In February, songwriter-producer and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder revealed, “The conversations about her next album literally just started and there [are] two projects happening.”

Tedder previously produced the 4 track “I Was Here” and co-wrote and produced the I Am … Sasha Fierce global smash “Halo.”

Beyoncé recently received three nominations for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Female Video for “Love on Top.”

Beyonce Performs For Michelle Obama At Atlantic City Show

By Rebecca Thomas

Beyonce made her return to the stage at Revel in Atlantic City over Memorial Day Weekend after giving birth to her daughter Blue Ivy Carter in January, and the superstar didn’t disappoint.

Beyoncé returned to the stage Saturday night, on the second of a four-night run in this East Coast resort city. And it was a spectacular fitting her rising icon status.

So what kinds of clues get 20somethings calling you “the greatest performer” of your generation? Well, it’s in the details. For one, Revel, the sparkling, 6.3-million-square-foot beachfront destination that played host to Beyoncé’s comeback, devoted a channel on its guest-room flat-screen TVs solely to B-related content: no weather broadcasts, nary a “Housewife” and no commercial breaks; just videos, all-star performances and more, all through Memorial Day weekend. It was evident in the distance traveled, too, with fans telling MTV News they’d made cross-country pilgrimages, while still others came from as far as Tokyo and South Africa to hail Queen B.

But those are just the hints, peripheral proof. The presence of First Lady Michelle Obama at last night’s concert left little doubt that the little girl from Houston, who joined a girl group and then struck out on her own, had seen another benchmark in her relatively young career. After exchanging letters in recent months, with each calling the other a role model for girls, Obama turned up in a sleeveless green sheath waving like royalty from a balcony in Ovation Hall.

A little after 10 p.m., as the pounding opening march from “End of Time” kicked in, Beyoncé appeared in silhouette; the sequins were hard to make out but the wind-blown mane was impossible to miss. Finally, B, stunning in hot pink Stuart Weitzman heels and a beaded body suit, appeared on the massive stage backed by her dancers.

“Atlantic City, snap your fingers,” she commanded, launching into “Love on Top.” Without missing a step of the New Edition-inspired choreography, B powered through the song’s modulations in an extended vocal showcase. Then she took an exaggerated pause, as if to catch her breath (or to bask in the adulation?), before belting out a final coda. The 30-year-old’s comeback was officially under way.

Pushing through hits from her debut solo effort, including “Naughty Boy” and the dancehall-infused “Baby Boy,” and Sasha Fierce smashes like “Diva,” B defied all post-partum laws as she kept pace with Frank Gatson’s acrobatic dance style. (“Y’all don’t know how hard I had to work. I had to lose 60 pounds!” she laughed to the crowd later. “They had me eating lettuce.”) And just as songs like “Single Ladies” and “Run the World (Girls)” are meant to serve as empowerment manuals for women, it became clear last night that Beyoncé’s choreography is meant to do the same: a series of sensual quickstep moves that revolve around the hips and legs. It showed in the Fosse-style swing and formations on songs like “Get Me Bodied,” and the strut-heavy footwork on “Freakum Dress.”

“Sasha Fierce disappeared, but y’all bringing her back,” B joked midway through the euphoric two-hour set.

For one of our favorite numbers, “Party,” the 4 singer donned full-on showgirl regalia in a heady rendition that saw confetti coming from the roof and dice-shaped beach balls being tossed through the crowd as dancers in large feathered headdresses magically turned up in the aisles.

There were ballads, of course, at Ovation Hall, the more memorable among them a tribute to Whitney Houston and a cover of Lauryn Hill‘s classic “Ex Factor.” And if Beyoncé reminded us of what we’ve lost in those gut-wrenching covers — she proved, too, that she’s more than ready to carry the weight on her shoulders.

Beyonce’s ‘Back To Business’ With Memorial Day Concerts

Time is ticking. It’s only a matter of hours until Beyoncé makes her post-Blue Ivy Carter performance comeback with her string of Memorial Day weekend shows at Atlantic City’s recently launched Revel entertainment center. And with anticipation high, the pop titan is giving her fans a small taste of the behind-the-scenes action it took to transition back to her stage show ways.

In the first of a two-part video montage segment that was posted on the singer’s website, Queen B is seen working hard almost two months prior to the gigs on everything from choreography to show concept and vocal rehearsing.

Despite admitting a few nerves and her inclusion in the pop-star-turned-mom club, Beyoncé remained adamant about her return to the stage, “I’m enjoying being a mother, so it’s like going back to my old job. It’s a little strange, but it’s important that you don’t lose yourself and have your own passions. I’m back to work. I’m back to business.”

It’s the first of many candid moments in which the singer opens up and allows camera lenses to document the planning of the concerts. And by the looks of it, the chart-topper will be giving it her all. At one point, Beyoncé is seen sitting on the floor with her crew of dancers conceptualizing the event. “What I’m trying to say with the show … yes, I had a baby, but it just made me more grounded,” she says.

In comparison to her intimate four-night affair at New York’s Roseland Ballroom in August 2011, the Revel shows are expected to be much more of a grand spectacle, with high-tech LED, intense choreography and video backdrops.

Positivity goes a long way, as her choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. co-signs the singer’s intent to create a stellar event. “I think this show has the potential to be one of the greatest shows we’ve done. People, re-sit and listen to Beyoncé, we will have a brilliant show at Revel,” he said.

Will you be seeing Beyoncé in concert this Memorial Day weekend? Tell us in the comments!
