Channing Tatum Plays Dad And President Protector In ‘White House Down’ Trailer

Channing Tatum Plays Dad And President Protector In White House Down Trailer

The second trailer for the second “White House in peril” movie, “White House Down,” just premiered over at Yahoo! Movies, and unlike the first ominous preview, this actually plays to Channing Tatum‘s comedic chops and star power.

The trailer introduces us to Tatum’s wannabe Secret Service agent, John Cale, just a normal guy who brings his daughter along to a job interview at the White House. Though the interview doesn’t go as planned, a perfectly timed terrorist attack on Washington, D.C. gives John the opportunity to go full-on John McClane. Not only will he have to save his daughter, who has been taken hostage by the invading terrorists, but also protect the prez, played by Jamie Foxx.

That’s a lot funnier than the doom-and-gloom teaser we got a few weeks ago, right? It’s hard to say where “White House Down” will fall on the action-comedy scale, but this preview certainly wants us to think this will be in line with Bruce Willis’ “Die Hard” quips.

White House Down” opens on June 28.

‘Magic Mike 2′ Still Developing With Original Cast Returning

Mike Magic” came out of nowhere last summer to not only win big at the box office, despite it’s meager budget, but it also scored with critics, appearing on many year-end “Best Of” lists. It wasn’t long after the male stripper movie debuted that talk began to circulate of a possible sequel.

Word on any follow-up has been mostly quiet since last year, but recently, Steven Soderbergh opened up to PrideSource about “Magic Mike 2″ and revealed that the project is indeed progressing with a hilarious true-life experience of Channing Tatum‘s at the heart of it.

According to the original film’s director, the story at the center of “Magic Mike 2″ was one that he wanted to include in the original, but couldn’t dedicate the time needed to do it justice.

“We actually just had a meeting about it the other day. It’s getting pretty far along. They’ve got a good idea. There were some stories and events that Channing lived through that we just couldn’t fit in the first one. One of them is a really hilarious and very cinematic idea that we reluctantly didn’t put in the first film, because it was such a big idea you could build a whole film out of it — but we didn’t want to build that film out of it. It’s perfect for this, though.”

Since Soderbergh’s retirement from directing features films will keep him from standing behind the lens, but he said that he does hope to be involved with sequel, which, according to him, will reunite the cast of the original.

Could Channing Tatum And Joseph Gordon-Levitt Lead ‘Guys And Dolls’?

Could Channing Tatum And Joseph Gordon Levitt Lead Guys And Dolls?

The big movie musicals today are always looking for leading men and women who can be the triple threat that made Hollywood stars and starlets decades ago, but that kind of talent is a rare breed these days, expect for a few notable exceptions. Deadline is now reporting that 20th Century Fox has won the rights to the Broadway musical “Guys and Dolls,” and they have two specific leading men in mind who fit that bill.

According to the report, the studio will pursue Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the lead roles of Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit, the roles Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra famously played in the 1955 adaptation of the musical.

Please stop screaming and read more about the project after the jump!

While this is simply Fox’s ideal casting for a possible “Guys and Dolls” project, you have to admit that it’s a really good idea. The two actors have never found their profile higher, and both have a certain set of skills that would be right at home in a musical.

Gordon-Levitt showed off his stage presence at this year’s Oscars telecast when he performed “High Hopes” with host Seth MacFarlane and Daniel Radcliffe, a Broadway veteran himself.

Tatum doesn’t have quite the singing voice of Gordon-Levitt—as far as we know—but the boy can dance. All he’ll have to do is his “Magic Mike” routine while keeping his clothes on and he’s got “Broadway star” written all over him.

We’ll have to wait and see if this becomes anything more than a pipedream on Fox’s part, but we bet you’ll have your fingers crossed until then.

’21 Jump Street’ Sequel Confirmed For 2014 Release

21 Jump Street Sequel Confirmed For 2014 Release

Sony is definitely moving forward with its sequel to “21 Jump Street.” The studio announced during it’s presentation at CinemaCon that the film will be hitting theaters next year.

Last July it was reported that “21 Jump Street 2″ was in the works, with filming expected to begin in September 2013. Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall wrote the script, and Hill and Channing Tatum are expected to return as stars. It’s unclear what the plot of the “21 Jump Street” sequel will be, but some speculate it will take Hill and Tatum’s characters to college instead of embedding them in high school again.

“21 Jump Street” was one of the biggest comedies of 2012, so it’s no surprise that Sony is excited to get a sequel moving forward. Dave Franco also has said he’ll be back, while directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are expected to return once they wrap with “The Lego Movie.”

“All I can really say is that I’m working on it,” Bacall told MTV News back in March 2012. “I met with Jonah and Channing and all the producers and executives and yeah, we’re looking to get it going as quickly as possible. I’m about to start the draft. I think if you’ve watched ['21 Jump Street'], by the end you’ll have a pretty good idea where the sequel takes place.”
