Lil Wayne Returns To Vegas With ‘No Worries’ At All

By Rob Markman

The first time we saw Lil Wayne on a Las Vegas set he was on top of the world. Who could forget the 2008 “Lollipop” video where Weezy cruised down the Vegas Strip on top of a stretch SUV while strumming his guitar?

The formula worked out quite well seeing as the track hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped propel Wayne’s Tha Carter III LP to move over one a million units during the first week of its release. “I think at that time I had never shot a video in Vegas,” he said of his simple reasoning for choosing the location of his biggest video.

Hopefully Tunechi’s latest trip to Sin City will yield similar results. In the Colin Tilley-directed clip for “No Worries” Wayne, producer Detail and their entire YMCMB fam invade Vegas in a much different fashion. “We did this video in Vegas because the treatment played off the movie ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’,” Wayne tells MTV News of the visual concept behind “No Worries.”

The clip starts with Tune and his buddy Detail in the desert picking up a suspect-looking hitchhiker. It doesn’t take long for the pack to end up in a Vegas casino tripping out of their minds. Dressed in board shorts, a loose fitting tank and a bucket hat, Wayne pays homage to Raoul Duke, the character played by Johnny Depp in the 1998 “Fear and Loathing.”

With Weezy’s free-wheeling performance and Tilley’s trippy after effects, looks like the video for “No Worries” is another YMCMB hit. It’s only a matter of time before Wayne comes back, right?

What’s your favorite scene in Lil Wayne’s new “No Worries” video?

Nicki Minaj And Cassie ‘Boys’ Duet Was ‘Long Overdue’

Nicki Minaj‘s titillating team-up with Cassie on “The Boys” is the stuff of teenage dreams, a track some two years in the making. And if you thought this song was hot, well, then you should have heard the song the two recorded a few years back — as Cassie explained to MTV News last week.

“It was great working with Nicki on the song. We actually had been trying to get together for a while; we did a record together I want to say maybe two-and-a-half years before this, and it obviously didn’t get any play. It was for my album, which I’ve been working on for years,” she laughed. “It was kind of long overdue; we had been talking about it for a while, so it was nice to get together and finally do something, and to also have a visual to it.”

So while fans may never get to hear the results of Cassie and Nicki’s first pairing (unless, you know, Cass finally gets around to finishing her long-in-the-works sophomore album), “The Boys” is plenty for anyone to handle — and Cassie said she’s honored to be included on Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up (“She’s always got amazing records out,” she said. “So to be a part of that is really exciting”) and to have contributed to the song’s eye-catching, candy-colored video.

“The concept of the video was definitely a collaboration. I’ve known [director] Colin Tilley for a really long time, but I hadn’t got to work with him yet, so this was our first time,” she said. “He really wants to hear the artists’ input and wants to know what we want to do to make the video great. So he came to us with the treatment of us being in a Barbie world, and I wanted to put my little flavor on it, so I was like, ‘What if I was Ken?’ So Nicki loved the idea, and that’s where that stemmed from.”

Of course, that collaboration also came with a few occupational hazards — though Cassie not only took them in stride, she made them work with her androgynous, Ken-doll look.

“My personal inspiration behind the look in the blue suit and the graffiti top was ‘Ken on steroids.’ Or ‘Ken inspired by East London punk,’ and I think we totally achieved,” she laughed. “I actually had paint in my hair, like children’s washable paint that hardened, and I freaked out right when we had to wash it out. But we made it into a flattop!”

Nicki Minaj Invites Rick Ross, Cam’ron Over In ‘I Am Your Leader’ Video

By Rob Markman

If you ever wanted a peek inside Nicki Minaj‘s Barbie mansion, here’s your chance. The YMCMB rapper invited fans to her playhouse this week in the new video for “I Am Your leader” which also features cameos from Cam’ron and Rick Ross.

Vevo got the green light to premiere the Colin Tilley-directed clip for Nicki’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and it is just what you expect from the two twisted and creative minds. Eye-popping shades of pink and green set the tone for the vid, which takes place in Nicki’s not-so-humble abode. There are trapezoid-shaped windows, neon-colored moose antlers on the wall and a bathtub with a television in it. The only thing missing is Pee-wee Herman.

Nicki and company hold things down, but before we are introduced to Rozay or Killa Cam, the schizophrenic Roman sets it off rapping, while standing on a zebra print rug in a black leather dominatrix outfit. “Play with me, check who came with me/ I brought a couple nines, plus the Ks with me,” she rhymes while pointing her imaginary finger gun.

The rapstress tours her crib, going from a pink living room to rapping in a bubbly purple bathtub. It’s no accident that the mammoth-sized Ross is seated at the head of a ridiculously long, gold-plated dining room table for the start of his verse. There aren’t any heaping bowls of lobster bisque ordiced pineapples (two of Ricky’s favorite foods), but a 24-karat Nicki strikes vogue poses behind him as he spits his bars. And that’s just as entertaining.

Only in a Nicki Minaj video can you find two of rap’s hardest street figures performing in such a wacky setting, but it’s the juxtaposition that “I Am Your Leader” offers which makes it fun. Cam’ron, who is known to sport a pink mink in his day, dons a blue button-up and a matching New York Yankees cap and raps from a slime-green staircase while moving portraits of he, Nicki and Rozay hang on the walls.

While Nicki’s new crib may not be for most people, it’s perfect for the Barbz.

Welcome To Nicki Minaj’s Playhouse: ‘I Am Your Leader’ Video

Now you didn’t expect Nicki Minaj‘s Barbie mansion to be all dainty and girly, did you? On Friday (August 24), Nick invited fans inside of her playhouse when she debuted her video for “I Am Your Leader” with Rick Ross and Cam’ron.

Vevo got the green light to premiere the Colin Tilley-directed clip for Nicki’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and it is just what you expect from the two twisted and creative minds. Justin Bieber Spotted Kissing A Brunette On ‘Boyfriend’ Set

Justin Bieber seems to be getting romantic in his video for “Boyfriend.”

The singer was spotted over the weekend in Los Angeles shooting more scenes from the highly anticipated clip. In one picture, Bieber is seen kissing a dark-haired lady’s hand. In addition to getting cozy with the pretty lady, Bieber jumps into a convertible on a set with a few muscle cars.

If fans are worried about what girlfriend Selena Gomez might think of Bieber being affectionate with his onscreen co-star, they shouldn’t worry. Gomez reportedly stopped by the set to visit her BF, according to Gossipcop.com, and the pair shared in a few offscreen kisses.

Justin has been hard at work on his “Boyfriend” video for a while now. And he made it clear to MTV News that despite the song’s lyrics, he won’t be donning any costumes in the Colin Tilley-directed video. “I won’t be dressed up as Buzz Lightyear,” he said. “I think there’s some copyright issues; I can’t use that.”

The new stills give fans another glimpse of what to expect from the video, which have up until now mostly been teases of the singer in shadow or with only a black backdrop behind him as women put their hands all over him. “The concept of this video, I mean, it’s not like a steady concept,” he said back in March. “It’s not like ‘Justin follows this girl to this spot.’ No, it’s a bunch of amazing scenes: like a fire scene, we have an ice scene.

“It’s kind of like bouncing back and forth,” he said. “And then there’s scenes of me and just a bunch of girl dancers, and just some great shots, great artistic shots, great shots of me smiling. It’s fun.”

“Boyfriend” is the lead single off Bieber’s June 19 release, Believe.

Justin Bieber And Taylor Swift’s Duet Sounds ‘Beautiful,’ Selena Gomez Says

Wondering what the highly anticipated Justin Bieber track featuring Taylor Swift might sound like? Well, Bieber’s girlfriend, Selena Gomez, has heard it and she gives it two thumbs up.

“It’s beautiful,” she told E! News about the collaboration for Bieber’s June release, Believe. “I don’t know if it’s going to make it on the record, but it is beautiful.”

Whether or not it makes the cut, Swift is only one of many artists — including Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine and hip-hop heavyweights and Bieber’s pals Kanye West and Drake — who have hit the studio with the Biebs. As for working together, neither Selena nor Justin have mentioned a duet for his album.

“You know, the whole album is just so different, there’s so many different people collaborating,” he recently explained about the album. “It’s crazy. I mean I even wrote a song with Taylor Swift, so the whole album ranges differently. With my music, it doesn’t only stay in a box. It’s so out there. Everything is so different and that’s why I’m so happy with this album.”
Bieber will drop Believe on June 19. Before then, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of his “Boyfriend” music video, for which he has released several teases over the last few weeks.

“The concept of this video, I mean, it’s not like a steady concept,” he explained to MTV News about the Colin Tilley-directed clip.
It’s fun.

Will Justin Bieber Dress Up As Buzz Lightyear In ‘Boyfriend’ Video?

The countdown is on to Justin Bieber‘s next album release, Believe. And if the response to the album’s first single, “Boyfriend,” is any indication, the record’s appeal might span far beyond the realm of his devoted Beliebers.

“The reaction’s been great [to 'Boyfriend']; not only have I got good reactions from my fans, but great reactions from people who, you know, [might not usually listen to my music]. I’ve gotten messages like ‘You know, I never would have listened to Justin and now I love this song,’ ” he explained to MTV News. “So, it’s really great feedback.”

It’s that kind of enthusiasm that Bieber is taking with him as he works on the record in its final stages. He’s already hit the studio with folks like Drake, will.i.am, Diplo and Usher and is just chugging along before he has to wrap up and send it out into the world.

“There’s not a confirmed release date. It’s this summer. I’m really happy with the outcome of it so far,” he said. “I mean, we’re almost done. We’re just kind of putting the finishing touches on it. It should be good.”

But before then, fans will have to satisfy their appetites with the Colin Tilley-directed “Boyfriend” video, which should drop in the near future. Unfortunately, the visual won’t mirror the single’s choice lyrics, “I could be your Buzz Lightyear/ Fly across the globe.”

“No, no, I won’t be dressed up as Buzz Lightyear,” he said. “I think there’s some copyright issues, I can’t use that.”

We look forward to seeing whether Bieber will be “Chillin’ by the fire while we eatin’ fondue” in the clip.

Justin Bieber Will Show Off His ‘New And Fresh’ Side In ‘Boyfriend’ Video

Justin Bieber is gradually giving fans a taste of his forthcoming video for “Boyfriend.” In the latest tease for the clip, which he tweeted out, several more shots are revealed. They include a watery, booming speaker, Bieber whispering in a pretty girl’s ear and the singer standing in silhouette, snapping his fingers in front of the moon.

“I think people are going to be really happy [with the video] and …
I think it’s going to make people like the song more,” Bieber told MTV News on the set of the video, directed by Colin Tilley. “The album, in general, is just really new and fresh and I think people are going to be really happy to hear it.”

The song certainly represents a more mature sound for the 18-year-old, who has abandoned the doo-wop-influenced pop of his past for a Justin Timberlake vibe. But if fans think Believe will sound like “Boyfriend,” Bieber explains that this track offers only a sampling of the album’s overall sound.

“I think it’s part of it,” he said. “I mean, my whole album is so different and every song’s different on the album, and I think that what’s special about it is nothing sounds the same.”

After Bieber teased that he’d be hitting the studio with his mentor Usher, the two tweeted a bit more about working together.

“Ohh … and trust we got a duet coming for ‘LOOKING 4 MYSELF’ and ‘BELIEVE,’ ” Usher tweeted about working with the teen star on both of their forthcoming albums. “He has come a long way. Proud to see his evolution as an artist!”

Believe will drop later this year, with the “Boyfriend” video dropping sometime soon.
Looking for Myself, Usher’s next album, will be released in June.

Rick Ross Joins Wale On ‘Bag Of Money’ Video Set

By Rob Markman

Rick Ross joined Wale on the set of his “Bag of Money” video in Miami last weekend, where the Bawse released his hold and turned over all creative control to director Colin Tilley. “Every time I always got his treatments, I never understood what the hell he was talking about in his treatments, but the end results were always dope,” Rozay told MTV News. “After talking to him, he let me know he approaches his videos like art, so I let him have his freedom on this one.”

Tilley has definitely earned the right, having already clocked in beautiful clips with Chris Brown (“Deuces,” “Yeah 3X“), Justin Bieber (“U Smile“) and Lil Wayne (“John“).

On the T-Pain-assisted “Bag of Money,” Ross, Wale and Meek Mill liken the objects of their affection to a sack of cash. “My chick bad/ Lookin’ like a bag of money,” Rozay spits on the song’s hook.

Technically, the track is Wale’s single, but it will appear on the trio’s upcoming Self Made, Vol. 2 label compilation. “This is the introduction record letting the world know that we’re about to release another project together,” Wale said. “Self Made, Vol. 1: The streets were loving it so much that it’s almost inevitable that we had to do it. This is the first record. We going directly at the MMG ladies.”

Ross explained: “This was us in the studio just really exchanging tour stories, vibes, just really having a good time and saluting all the sexy ladies. You looking like a bag of money baby, you looking like motivation, so consider yourself that.”

As far as the song’s visuals, the MMG boys wanted to keep things simple. “It’s a nice setting, a lot of pretty girls,” Meek said about Tilley’s set.

Wale added: “We wanted something clean, something clean and sharp. We could’ve went with a premise or story, but it’s just clean. We want people to see the artistic side of Maybach Music.”

Lil Wayne And Tyga Get ‘Trippy’ For ‘Faded’ Video

Don’t expect Tyga to slow down anytime soon. Though the Young Money stand-out is still riding high off of his hit single “Rack City,” Tyga Tyga is fast at work, and this week he released the video for his Lil Wayne-assisted single “Faded.” Though the song bangs in the street, the Cali spitter didn’t want to limit his visuals to the block and flexed a bit of artistic muscle for the clip.

“It’s crazy. The idea I had for it, I still wanted to keep it street and relatable, but I wanted to do something fun and creative,” Tyga told MTV News in February while on the video set in Miami.

Who better to call than director Colin Tilley, who has used quite a bit of impressive visual effects in videos for Chris Brown and Lil Wayne. “As you can see, the setups that we got here is crazy. From the gold setup, to the spinning tunnel, just a bunch of trippy type stuff,” Tyga said.

In one scene from the current MTV Jams Jam of the Week, Wayne and Tyga are animated with big heads, similar to the effect popularized by the 1993 arcade game “NBA Jam.”

On his album Careless World: Rise of the Last King, Tyga sends poignant messages on songs like “King and Queens,” but “Faded” was really just about a vibe between Wayne and his protégé. “At first it was just a mixtape joint, and I was like, ‘Man, I might want to save this for my album, this is one of those joints.’ ”

Tyga wasn’t the only one impressed by the song. Wayne, who was recording in the next room at the time, wanted in also. “That’s how we work: Birdman in one studio, I’m in another studio, Wayne’s in another. We just all in a bunch of different rooms,” he said. “He did a verse on it and I was like, ‘We gotta shoot a video.’ ”
