Francis Lawrence To Direct Both ‘Mockingjay’ Films

“Catching Fire” helmer Francis Lawrence has been reaped to direct the final two installment of “The Hunger Games” franchise, “Mockingjay – Part 1″ and “Mockingjay – Part 2,” Lionsgate has confirmed.

Lawrence is currently at work on the series’ second installment, having been tapped to fill the vacant director’s chair left after Gary Ross opted out of the sequel. Principle photography on “Catching Fire” began in September in Atlanta, Georgia, with production shifting to Hawaii in order to evoke the tropical setting of the 75th annual Hunger Games (otherwise known as the Quarter Quell).

Rumors had swirled that Lionsgate was eyeing a new auteur to direct the franchise’s two-part finale (due largely to the series’ aggressive production schedule), but the studio must have decided that the odds were ever in Lawrence’s favor.

When MTV News caught up with Woody Harrelson (otherwise known as oft-drunk District 12 mentor Haymitch Abernathy) prior to “Catching Fire” filming, he was excited about the prospect of Lawrence behind the camera. “You know, I like the way Francis is very thorough, very on top of everything. I really feel great,” he said. “I loved Gary. I thought Gary did an incredible job with the first one, but I do think Francis is going to do great with this.”

“Mockingjay” — written as a single book by Suzanne Collins — will be split into two films much the same way “Breaking Dawn” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” were. The films will follow bow-and-arrow-wielding heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) as she leads a rebellion against the Capitol and its tyrannical leader President Snow (Donald Sutherland). Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth will also star.

Catching Fire” is slated for a November 22, 2013, release, with “Mockingjay – Part 1″ out November 21, 2014, followed by “Mockingjay – Part 2″ debuting November 20, 2015.

What do you think about Francis Lawrence directing the remainder of “The Hunger Games” franchise?

‘Argo’ Nabs #1 Spot At Box Office In Its Third Weekend

The third time was the charm for Ben Affleck as his third directorial outing became the #1 movie in America during its third weekend of release. “Argo” collected an estimated $12.3 million over the weekend even as four new releases floundered. Overseas, “Skyfall” generated a queen’s ransom of $77 million, two weeks before ahead of the new Bond flick’s U.S. debut.

Tom Hanks‘ sci-fi epic “Cloud Atlas,” from “The Matrix” masterminds Lana and Andy Wachowski, was #3 with a $9.4 million debut, which was the highest of the weekend’s new releases. “Silent Hill: Revelation 3D” was #5 with just $8 million. “Fun Size” barely cracked the top 10 with $4 million, while Gerard Butler’s “Chasing Mavericks” opened with just $2.2 million.

The latest James Bond movie, featuring Daniel Craig as 007 for the third time, opened in 25 foreign markets, beating the debuts of “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace” thus far. “Skyfall” had the second-biggest three-day debut ever in the U.K., behind only “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Incidentally, Craig is the only actor aside from Roger Moore to play Her Majesty’s most famous fictitious spy who was actually born in England. Sean Connery is Scottish; George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton are both Welsh; Pierce Brosnan, Craig’s immediate predecessor in the role, is Irish.

“Argo” has now made $60.7 at the domestic box office, and has generated a lot of Oscar buzz along the way. “Argo” has earned only $3 million less than Affleck’s second directorial outing, “The Town,” at the same point in its run.

“Hotel Transylvania” continued to truck along, gathering another $9.5 million to land at #2. Featuring the voice of Adam Sandler alongside many of his usual cohorts like Kevin James and David Spade, the kid flick has earned $130.4 million in the U.S. “Taken 2″ is the fall’s other $100 million movie so far, with $8 million over the weekend for a $117.3 million total.

‘Paranormal Activity 4′ Trailer: Five Creepy Moments

With October and Halloween not too far in our future, it was only a matter of time before we saw the first signs of “Paranormal Activity 4,” the latest entry into the perennially profitable found-footage franchise.

For the latest visit from an invisible demon, the series leaves behind the ’80s from “PA3″ and instead moves the action forward to years after the events of “PA2.”

Here are our five key scenes from the “Paranormal Activity 4″ trailer:

Back to the Present
Take a look at that timestamp. The “Paranormal Activity” series has returned to the present after a brief trip back to 1988 for the third installment. For those keeping track, the November 2011 setting moves the present-day action forward five years after the abduction of Hunter by his Aunt Katie. The retro installment of the series had to rely on clever tricks, like the rotating fan, to achieve the signature scares, but for the latest installment, “PA” is getting a welcome dose of 21st-century technology.

Toby Joins Skype
The biggest shakeup to the format comes with the addition of video chatting to the equation. The main character in the trailer chats with a boy over her webcam and shares with him some of the creepy goings-on after the new neighbors moved in next door. The new lead marks the first time the series has focused on a young hauntee, so the inclusion of video chat makes sense, given the format.

Hunter Grows Up
The last time we saw young Hunter Rey, he was the baby in the crib being abducted by his possessed aunt. With five years since the events of “PA2,” Hunter has spent as long living with a demon. It’s no wonder the kid ends up scaring the neighbors. In the trailer, he stands outside the main characters’ house and, like any good possessed child, knows exactly when to look up at the window.

BEHIND YOU!!!
It wouldn’t be a trailer for “Paranormal Activity” without the appearance of a shadowy figure, now would it? After our lead catches Hunter scoping out the house from the driveway, all of the doors in the house begin to open, or so the world’s strangest alarm system informs us.

A Familiar Symbol
As the title card begins to appear at the end of the trailer, the “4″ briefly changes into the symbol predominantly featured in “PA3,” you know, the one that looks like the Deathly Hallows. In the previous film, that symbol belonged to the coven of witches that is responsible for bringing the demon around in the first place. It seems like we have not seen the last of those creepy old ladies.

‘Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Split In Two, Opening November 2014 And 2015

95bf3 Mockingjay Hunger Games: Mockingjay Split In Two, Opening November 2014 And 2015

Most people assumed “The Hunger Games” would play out similarly to two other famous literary series, “Harry Potter” and “Twilight,” by slipping up its final installment. A new report confirms that everyone was right.

The third book of Suzanne Collins‘ series, “Mockingjay,” will be released as two separate films, one hitting theaters in November 2014, the other, one year later.

This was the widely held assumption since all the primary cast members initially signed on for four films. As recently as the premiere for “The Hunger Games,” producers said that they were unsure about how the leftover story would be spread out among the three remaining movies.

Lionsgate will release “Mockingjay” along the same lines as “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” and “The Twilight Sage: Breaking Dawn.” The latter, which was put out by Summit, who is now owned by Lionsgate, also spaced their last two films out with a year in between installments. Harry Potter fans only had to wait eight months.

What do you think of splitting up “Mockingjay”? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!

When Katie Met Tom: A Look At Holmes’ Recent Career

A lot changed for Katie Holmes when she met Tom Cruise — not just personally, but professionally. The two became a couple in 2005, gave birth to daughter Suri and married in 2006, and ultimately went their separate ways six years later following the announcement of their divorce on Friday (June 29).

Between her marriage and divorce from Cruise, Holmes’ professional life went through several ups and downs, beginning with her two-year hiatus from acting between 2005 and 2008 — a pause that occurred during what was perhaps the most exciting time in the actress’ career.

In the years before her relationship with Cruise began, Holmes put an end to her longtime role in “Dawson’s Creek” and enjoyed celebrated turns in “Go,” “Wonder Boys” and “Pieces of April.” But her biggest role to date came very shortly before becoming a public item with the “Top Gun” actor, a role that saw her at the center of a genre-defining franchise: Christopher Nolan’s Batman series.

Holmes starred in the filmmaker’s 2005 picture “Batman Begins” as Rachel Dawes, an assistant district attorney who had a history with Bruce Wayne and a tendency to get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her performance was the most criticized of the “Begins” cast, though not necessarily because of her work; she was surrounded by an all-star group of once and future Oscar winners and nominees, including Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Liam Neeson — a tough act to stand up to for any young actor.

She had the opportunity to prove her detractors wrong with “The Dark Knight,” Nolan’s 2008 sequel to “Begins” that debuted with the single-greatest domestic opening weekend at that time. (It’s now ranked third, behind “Avengers” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.”) The Dawes character played a pivotal, tragic role in the shaping of both Batman and one of the film’s primary antagonists, Harvey “Two-Face” Dent. But the actress was not around to meet the challenge.

Filming on “Dark Knight” was set to begin around the same time that Holmes’ work hiatus was coming to an end in early 2007. But the actress, newly married to Cruise, decided not to return to gritty Gotham City, opting instead for a role in the considerably sunnier “Mad Money,” a bank-heist comedy co-starring Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah. To hear Holmes tell it, she had no regrets about saying goodbye to Batman forever.

“I wish them all the best for this summer,” Holmes told MTV News in 2008 ahead of the release of “Dark Knight.” “I had a great experience working with Chris Nolan, [and] I’m sure it’s going to be a great movie. [But] I chose to do this movie ['Mad Money'], and I’m really proud of it.” Critics did not share Holmes’ pride: the film earned a 23 percent fresh rating on review aggregator RottenTomatoes.com and netted only $20.5 million during its box-office run.

In fairness, Holmes’ return to acting after marrying Cruise and giving birth to their daughter came with a wide variety of diverse credits — some well-received, and others … not so much.

After a brief but revealing (in more ways than one) turn in 2000′s “The Gift,” Holmes tried her hand at horror again with 2010′s “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark,” this time as a lead. The film fared slightly better with critics than “Mad Money”; if nothing else, Holmes embraced a challenging role (with a shocking ending) wholeheartedly. Holmes also dabbled in television during her marriage to Cruise, with memorable guest-starring turns on “Eli Stone” and “How I Met Your Mother.” Additionally, she committed to the iconic role of Jackie Kennedy opposite Greg Kinnear as JFK in “The Kennedys” — a miniseries that was critically maligned even before it hit airwaves, ultimately settling on mixed reviews upon its debut. Her case was not helped much by her involvement in “Jack and Jill,” the Adam Sandler comedy widely regarded as the low point of the comedian’s career.

In her post-Cruise future, Holmes has two promising projects on the horizon. She’s attached to an untitled Christian Camargo film alongside a strong cast, including William Hurt, Michael Nyqvist and Allison Janney. In addition, she’ll star in “Responsible Adults,” a romantic comedy that sees Holmes playing a med student who starts a romantic relationship with a young man (Zac Efron) she babysat 15 years earlier.

Correlation is not causation, but there’s no denying that during her marriage to Cruise, Holmes’ work as an actress paled in comparison to the excitement of her headline-grabbing personal life. (She certainly never met the heights that her fellow “Dawson’s” veteran Michelle Williams, a three-time Oscar nominee, has enjoyed.) Though attention is bound to center on her divorce in the days and weeks to come, one hopes that it won’t be long before Holmes finds her way back to the exciting path her career was on before her relationship with Cruise began — for her sake and ours.

‘Harry Potter’: An MTV Movie Awards History

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — With its Best Cast and Best Hero wins at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, the “Harry Potter” era in MTV history has come to a close.

MTV has been a fan of “Harry Potter” since the beginning. Literally. It’s bittersweet to have to celebrate the series for the last time with the big wins for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” so we decided to take a look back at our favorite Movie Awards memories with The Boy Who Lived.

The series didn’t earn its first Movie Award nominations until 2006, for “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” It got nods for Best Hero (Daniel Radcliffe), Best On-Screen Team (Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint) and Best Villain (Ralph Fiennes), but didn’t take home any awards. “Potter” struck out yet again with “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” when it lost both Best Summer Movie You Haven’t Seen Yet in 2007 and Best Kiss (between Daniel Radcliffe and Katie
Leung) in 2008.

There was a year of downtime between “Potter” nominations because the series didn’t have a film come out in 2009, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t represented at the Movie Awards. Radcliffe, Grint and Watson presented a “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” clip showing Dumbledore using the Pensieve to show Harry the first time he met Tom Riddle, who later would become Lord Voldemort.

It wasn’t until 2010, when “Half-Blood Prince” was up for four awards, that the series took home its first Golden Popcorn. The film lost for Best Female (Watson), Best Male (Radcliffe) and Best Movie, but Tom Felton took home the award for Best Villain. That ended up being one of the most memorable acceptance speeches in recent Movie Awards history as Mark Wahlberg kept interrupting the young Brit while he was trying to talk.

Fans were duly outraged, but Wahlberg was quick to apologize to Felton backstage — and we caught it on tape! “We were only kidding,” Wahlberg said, patting Felton on the back. “Sorry about that, great job. … Thanks for being a good sport.”

That year also marked the second time the Movie Awards showed a sneak peek of an upcoming “Potter” movie. We premiered a teaser trailer for both parts of “Deathly Hallows,” which ended up being pretty freaking awesome.

Felton took home the series’ second Golden Popcorn the next year (again for Best Villain), though “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1″ lost for Best Female, Best Kiss (Watson and Radcliffe), Best Male, Best Movie and Best Fight. That night was another memorable one for Felton, as Foo Fighters leading man Dave Grohl congratulated him on camera following his win.

One of the most talked about moments of the 2011 MTV Movie Awards was the premiere of the forest scene from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” It was one of the more chilling moments from the movie, and one that boded well for the final installment of the “Harry Potter” saga.

Fans were ultimately disappointed with the fact that “Potter” only took home one award in 2011, especially since it lost most of the Golden Popcorns to “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” With the voting rules changed this year, that means that the competition in 2012 was less about a battle of the fandoms and more about the best movie winning.

In the end, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ didn’t win every award it was up for this year. It lost for Best Fight, Best Female, Best Male, Best Kiss (Watson and Grint) and Best Movie, but at least won for Best Cast and Best Hero. At the end of the day, “Harry Potter” really does deserve both of those awards.

Fans could argue for hours over whether “Harry Potter” or “The Hunger Games” deserve the awards they won, but it seems fair to say that “Harry Potter” has consistently had one of the best ensemble casts in recent memory. It’s not just Radcliffe, Watson, Felton and Grint who won the award, but everyone who participated in the series’ eight films. As for the Best Hero win, considering that Harry defeated one of most evil beings of all time (you know, He Who Must Not Be Named), that’s quite a heroic feat. Those seem like suitable thank-yous to the “Potter” crew for making one of the most beloved film franchises in movie history.

Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. See what just happened at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards!

‘Perks Of Being A Wallflower’: A Movie Awards Coming-Out Party

While the film wasn’t yet vying for the Golden Popcorn in the Best Kiss or Movie of the Year categories, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” still had a big night at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

The Internet has been buzzing as Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller were on hand at the pre-show for their debut appearance as a cast, premiering the movie’s highly anticipated trailer.

The clip previewed several key scenes fans are itching to see in the adaptation of Stephen Chbosky‘s coming-of-age tale, which follows Charlie (Lerman) as he navigates adolescence with the help of his new friends Sam (Watson) and Patrick (Miller), the most notable being the “epic” tunnel scene.

The beginning of the trailer showed Sam standing on the bed of her truck with her arms outstretched as the vehicle whipped through the tunnel. The final moment of the trailer similarly showed Charlie on the truck while his voice-over said the book’s famous quote: “And in this moment, I swear we are infinite.”

“It was awesome. It was really cool,” Lerman told MTV News backstage as he recalled the scene. “It was just a magical moment, one of those organic, magical movie moments. … We just had a good time. It was a blast.”

Watson was up for Best Kiss with co-star Rupert Grint for their smooch in “Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ but lost to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” But just because the actress didn’t win this time around doesn’t mean she’ll miss out on the award next year. In “Perks,” Charlie develops a crush on Sam as their friendship grows, leading up to an inevitable lip-lock. While the trailer didn’t show the special moment, it did reveal some intimate scenes between the characters, and later, Lerman recalled his kiss with the “Harry Potter” actress saying, “It’s kind of odd when you’re doing it for a movie. It’s kind of weird. She’s cool. It wasn’t as awkward as it could have been. It’s Emma Watson, so I’m a lucky guy.”

Another exciting clip gave fans a glimpse at the adaptation of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Miller’s character, Patrick, is a flamboyant thespian who helms the part of the British rock musical’s emcee Frank N. Furter. When we spoke to the actor on the red carpet, he told us the role almost made him ditch film in favor of taking the “Rocky Horror” stage full time. “I was very grateful to even be able to [act in the musical], and I had this moment where I was like, ‘I might do “Rocky Horror Picture Show” forever. That might be it,’ ” he said.

Fortunately, for those who want to continue to catch Miller on the big screen, he talked himself out of it. He might want to consider a career in action films next. Towards the end of the trailer, there’s an intense scene where Patrick and Brad (Johnny Simmons), the high school quarterback, fight in the school cafeteria. Simmons described the brawl as both “physical and emotional,” revealing that neither actor held back during filming. “We both kind of agreed that we were gonna go for it and really fight it out,” he said. “I jacked up my knee, which was a battle scar. It was fun and worth it. I think it turned out good from what I’ve heard.”

Miller agreed, telling us that he and Simmons wanted the fight to look realistic, because it’s vital to the development of both of their characters. “It was hard. We all got bruises. That’s how you make a fight,” he explained. “I’ve made fights before in movies and it happens the same way. You plan something with the stunt choreographer, it’s all well and good and then you get to it and it’s like whatever happens, it’s [still] a fight. To make a fight happen, you can do it quarter speed, but you’re still tumbling to the ground.”

‘Dark Knight Rises’ And The Most Epic Movie Awards Reveals Ever!

UNIVERSAL CITY, California“The Dark Knight Rises” is still over a month away from hitting theaters, but you’ll get a brand-new look at the hotly awaited superhero flick this Sunday during the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. We’re presenting exclusive footage from the film during the show, though the specifics remain under wraps — exactly as the mysterious Batman would want it.

“I was put in a room, the door was locked, I was handcuffed, I had a bag over my head, the bag was revealed, they pressed play on the DVD, and I’m sworn to secrecy — but I’m telling you, it’s good,” Movie Awards director Hamish Hamilton told MTV News when we asked him about the “Dark Knight” footage. As we said: mysterious — but presumably awesome.

Indeed, if Movie Awards history tells us anything, the “Dark Knight Rises” footage will be a beautiful sight to behold. Our annual awards show has a strong track record when it comes to rewarding viewers and attendees with cool, exclusive sneak peeks at the coming year’s hottest flicks. From sparkly skinned vampires to robots in disguise, here are five of the all-time best Movie Awards footage premieres:

“Twilight” (2008)
The first look that started a phenomenon. In 2008, we unveiled the first complete scene from “Twilight,” featuring superstars-in-the-making Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in their most iconic roles to date. It was an action-packed scene, too, ripped straight out of the climax of “Twilight” where Bella is being brutalized by bad vamp James — until a certain pale-skinned mega-hunk flies in to save the day.

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” (2009)
Eventual outcome aside, our excitement for “Revenge of the Fallen” ahead of the movie’s release was through the roof. And we were equally psyched to debut an exclusive clip from the second “Transformers” movie at the Movie Awards in 2009, showing Shia LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky and Megan Fox’s Mikaela Banes fighting for their lives against a Decepticon spy. Just as exciting was our exclusive reveal of the Fallen himself. LaBeouf gave MTV News the exclusive first details about the monstrous villain that more than whetted our appetite for the film to come.

“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” (2010)
Even if it wasn’t a box-office hit, “Scott Pilgrim” remains one of our favorite flicks from 2010 — and our excitement hit an all-time high when we got a first look at the film at the 2010 Movie Awards. The scene, presented by director Edgar Wright, centered on heroic loser Scott’s battle against the second (and most famous) of Ramona Flowers’ evil exes: Lucas Lee, the skater-boy celebrity played by eventual “Captain America” star Chris Evans. It was our first fully formed look at Wright’s frenetic vision, and the scene shown at the Movie Awards ended up being one of the highlights of the final film.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ (2011)
Just as we were the first to bring the beginning of “Twilight” to the masses, so too were we there for the beginning of the end. The first trailer for the “Twilight” finale’s opening act — “Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ — premiered at last year’s Movie Awards and was met with all the fanfare you’d expect. Twilighters oohed and ahhed over the first glimpses of Edward and Bella’s hotly awaited wedding, not to mention gratuitous shots of shirtless Jacob Black. The “Breaking Dawn” trailer was the talk of the Movie Awards that year. Though it had to share some of the spotlight with …

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ (2011)
“The boy who lived … come to die.” The wicked Lord Voldemort’s cruel words sent shivers down fans’ spines when a brand-new clip from the “Harry Potter” finale premiered at last year’s Movie Awards. Easily one of the greatest footage reveals in the show’s history, if not the greatest, this look at “Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ rocked the “Potter” community to the core for showing such a pivotal scene so far in advance of the film’s theatrical release. Harry’s walk through the Forbidden Forest to meet his maker at the hands of You Know Who stands out as one of the strongest scenes in “Potter” history, and we’re thrilled to have been able to supply fans worldwide with their very first look.

MTV Movie Awards Go Live Tonight! Who Will Win Big?

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Happy MTV Movie Awards day, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

You have no shortage of films and stars to root for when tuning into the big show tonight (June 3) at 9 p.m. ET, and that only makes the decisions harder. How can you possibly choose between supporting the Boy Who Lived’s last night at the Movie Awards and Katniss Everdeen’s first time in the arena? Too much pressure!

Still, as in every competition, there will be winners and losers at this year’s show, with plenty of cause for triumph and heartbreak. And while we’re still hours away from knowing exactly who those victors are, we’ve got some sneaking suspicions about who will wind up owning the night.

Keep reading for our predictions:

“The Hunger Games”
Before Iron Man and the rest of “The Avengers” sucked all the air out of the box office, 2012′s biggest commercial titan was the Girl on Fire. Tonight at the Movie Awards, Katniss doesn’t have to worry about Earth’s mightiest heroes — only Captain America and Thor are nominated for Best Hero, and it will take a miracle to boost them to the top — and can instead focus on main rivals “Bridesmaids” and “Harry Potter.” Fans have rallied behind “Hunger Games” in a massive way over the past year, and with a leading nine nominations to its name, the odds are most certainly in this movie’s favor for ruling the show tonight.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2″
This is Harry’s final time to shine at the Movie Awards. As the fourth highest-grossing picture of all time, it’s safe to say that there are more than a few fans hoping for some good old-fashioned “Deathly Hallows” domination. Best Cast should be a lock for “Potter,” if only to acknowledge the phenomenal work of scenery-chewers Alan Rickman and Ralph Fiennes. It’s neck-and-neck between Potter and Katniss for Best Hero, but we’re placing our money on the Boy Wizard. And a Movie of the Year win is not out of the question, either. It has a huge obstacle to overcome in the increasingly hot “Hunger Games,” but as Lord Voldemort learned the hard way, you can never put Potter down for the count.

“The Dark Knight Rises” Fans
No matter who you’re rooting for at the Movie Awards, it’s the fans who will walk away the winners — Batman fans in particular. Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gary Oldman will all be on hand to present exclusive “Dark Knight Rises” footage at the show, in case you haven’t heard. Though we’re still in the dark regarding what exactly we’ll see, Movie Awards director Hamish Hamilton has seen the top-secret footage, and he’s “telling you, it’s good.” Expect this footage to be the talk of the town (or at least the Twitterverse) long after the show ends.

Shirtless-Men Enthusiasts
Another someone with an outside shot at dominating the Movie Awards conversation tonight is Channing Tatum, who finds himself nominated for multiple awards, including Best Kiss and Best Hero. Don’t count on him winning either of those awards — the former is all “Twilight,” and the latter is a battle of the bows and wands — but who needs a Golden Popcorn statuette when you have abs to put Taylor Lautner to shame? There’s growing buzz that Tatum is going to bring some of his “Magic Mike” shirtless magic to Movie Awards viewers tonight, so if you’re a fan of hot men sans clothes, you might be this year’s biggest winner.

Russell Brand
Finally, hats off to the man who’s going to keep the trains powered by farts tonight: Russell Brand, host of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Mark Wahlberg’s threats aside, we’re very confident Brand is going to absolutely tear it up at the show this year, if his past performances as host of the VMAs are any indication. Besides, Brand is allowed to do whatever he wants tonight — group sex, anyone?
