Lady Gaga Gives Lindsay Lohan ‘Beautiful’ Review For ‘Liz & Dick’

Lindsay Lohan’s performance in “Liz Dick” left some people, like critics, a bit underwhelmed, she did gain the approval of at least one very important person. The made-for-TV biopic got a glowing review from her pal, Lady Gaga.

“you did a beautiful job on Liz Dick, Let no one bring u down, Liz didnt, they always try to knock the greats down a few pegs,” the Mother Monster wrote on Twitter on Monday after the film premiered on Lifetime Sunday night.

Lohan’s response? “thank you so much!” she tweeted back. “You are such an incredible force and that means the world to me icon smile Lady Gaga Gives Lindsay Lohan Beautiful Review For Liz & Dick love hugs xo hope to see you soon bella.

Can Lindsay recover from “Liz Dick”? Experts weigh in!

It may seem a bit random that Gaga is sending Lohan some viral love, but the accolade doesn’t come out of nowhere. The twosome once partied together at the Chateau Marmont and there had even been rumors that Lohan could make an appearance in a future Gaga music video.

Until then, fans will have to settle on watching Lohan play screen legend Elizabeth Taylor in the small screen biopic. And, whether you loved or hated her performance, in a recent interview with Us Weekly, the actress opened up about why she felt now was the right time to tackle playing someone was iconic as Taylor.

Do you agree with Lady Gaga’s Review?

She said, “Everything I’ve gone through made me ready to play Liz.” And despite some of their personal similarities, she insists that unlike Taylor, she’s never been naughty on a film set. “Elizabeth was drunk on sets. I’ve never been drunk on set, ever,” she added. “I did my time and I respect the law.”

Grant Bowler opens up about Lindsay’s performance!

And while both Lohan and Taylor made names for themselves as actresses and tabloid queens, Lohan says despite appearances she’s not really into that kind of attention. “Since I was a kid, I’ve loved being on camera. Don’t misconstrue that: I didn’t strive to have flashbulbs at dinner or people who don’t know me calling TMZ. And 99 percent of the time, it’s not true,” she tells the magazine. “I feel bullied. I can’t think of any actor who has been subjected to such extreme publicity who hasn’t, like, committed suicide.”

Given the spotlight the film and Lohan have been under as of late, does she think Taylor would have any sage advice for her if she were still alive today? “She probably would have said, ‘Figure it the hell out,’ ” Lohan said. “You have to learn it for yourself sometimes.”

Is Lindsay Lohan Really Anything Like Elizabeth Taylor?

Lindsay Lohan stormed the Lifetime network on Sunday night playing the one and only Elizabeth Taylor. Given the similarities between both women’s personal lives, it would seem that Lohan would make for the perfect modern-day starlet to re-imagine the late screen legend in “Liz Dick.”

Let’s break it down for you. Both women happened to be former child stars who, as adults, lavished themselves in jewels (sometimes gifted to them, sometimes stolen, allegedly) and lived out their lives in the tabloids without much concern for how it may affect their PR. Given all that, does her co-star Grant Bowler think that Lohan truly is Liz reincarnated?

“Oh, I don’t know! I don’t know,” Bowler, who played Liz’s longtime love Richard Burton in the flick, told MTV News. “I, for myself, look for attributes that I have in common and if you like fuse those together so that I can tick that box and then I get curious about the stuff that’s a long way away from me, like internally. But that process goes on completely in your imagination and in your own head. So I don’t know about anybody else, whether they are close or far from their character. That’s impossible to tell. Really the only thing you can do is, as an audience later, sit back objectively kind of look at it and go ‘Oh yeah, there’s a lot of similarities.’ “

The film’s production, in many ways, played out like the Burton/Taylor love affair, full of controversy and speculation. It seems that each time Lindsay stepped on set, hullabaloo followed, including the time she was found unconscious in her hotel room and an investigation into the film’s production. Given who they were, perhaps Burton and Taylor would have appreciated that type of pre-release hype.

“They were the first paparazzi couple. The entire term ‘paparazzi’ became known around the world because of Burton and Taylor,” he said, recalling the scandal they created when they first fell in love on the set of “Cleopatra” in Rome (they were married to other people at the time), forever changing the way celebrity culture plays out in the press. “That was the end of it,” he said. “Really from then until now, studios and the people producing product have lost control controlling the stories around it. And, we have what we have today.”

But there was one moment that really struck Bowler during filming — one that made him realize how much Liz and Dick lived in public without a care.

“The amazing thing about their relationship was what didn’t happen behind closed doors,” he continued. “One thing that blew my mind shooting the movie was there a scene where Burton forces Taylor to choose between him and her husband, Eddie Fisher. But he did it in real life, and in the movie, in the middle of a dinner party in a home full of their friends. What was remarkable about them was how cavalier, if you like, or how open they were conducting their life. They certainly didn’t hold anything back.”

‘Liz & Dick’ Reviews: How Did Lindsay Lohan Do?

The long wait to see Lindsay Lohan as Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor is almost over. On Sunday night, the problem-plagued actress and her once-promising acting chops will be on full display in Lifetime’s problem-plagued production of “Liz Dick.”

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen the former Disney star onscreen, and given all that has happened in her personal life during that time — most of which overshadows her early and well-received work like “Mean Girls” and “The Parent Trap” — expectations are all over the place and so are the critics’ reviews of the Lifetime Original Movie. Prepare yourself for some melodrama as we read through the “Liz Dick” reviews!

The Story
” ‘Liz Dick’ is a very peculiar TV movie indeed. The opening seconds flash a ”based on a true story” message across the screen. But the ‘story’ — that is, the life that Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton shared mostly during the 1960s, after meeting while making Cleopatra (1963) — was much richer in reality than it is in this dinky, tin-eared production. Instead, the primary interest in watching ‘Liz Dick’ is to behold Lindsay Lohan trying, with varying, wobbly degrees of effort, to make her own career comeback.” — Ken Tucker, Entertainment Weekly

The Spectacle
“It should come as no great surprise that Lifetime’s ‘Liz Dick’ movie starring Lindsay Lohan is spectacularly bad. After all, it’s Lohan, more memorable in the tabloids than she ever was as an actress. No, the mystery here is whether Lifetime actually believed it had a major ‘television event,’ as it says, because this was Lohan’s ‘highly anticipated comeback movie role,’ as the channel’s website notes. Was Lifetime made giddy by the potential, or made blind by it? Most intriguing, did it know that casting Lohan of all people as Elizabeth Taylor would nearly burn Hollywood down — and shock the rest of the country as well, thus ensuring enormous ratings? Lifetime’s website breathlessly asks visitors, ‘Are you finally convinced?’ — with a link to a photo of Lohan as Taylor and a young Liz side by side. No, the photo is not convincing. Hair and makeup miracles do not make a movie. So calm down, Lifetime.” — Tim Goodman, The Hollywood Reporter

The Lohan
“From a distance, and perhaps more so when she was younger and her notorious partying hadn’t started to show on her face, Lohan bears a certain resemblance to Taylor. But it’s not enough by half to make her credible here. For one thing, virtually no attempt has been made to reflect Taylor’s physicality. Unlike Lohan, she had hips. And at certain times during the period the film covers, she had a lot more than that. The recreated scene from ‘Virginia Woolf’ is absurd: It’s as though Burton is trading barbs with a 14-year-old boy in drag.

… Lohan also doesn’t sound much like Taylor. The actress’ voice is ragged and dry, where Taylor’s voice was high and rather lyrical, unless she wanted to allow herself cackle and bellow.

But in the hands of a skilled actress, speech and looks could be overcome with a credible performance, a performance that finds the common thread between the two actresses. Lohan knows what it’s like to be hounded by the press and knows what it’s like to be the subject of scandal.

She also knows what it’s like for one’s craft not to be taken seriously because of those scandals. Yet she doesn’t seem to mine any of that. Her attempts at recreating Taylor’s signature temper flare-ups are wan and unconvincing, and she fails repeatedly at embodying the star presence that Taylor had fine-tuned over a lifetime in front of the camera and in the public spotlight.” — David Wiegand, The San Francisco Chronicle

The Final Word
“I’d like to say that it’s not apparent that ‘Liz and Dick’s’ director also helmed not one but two Mitch Albom-based movies, but it really, really is apparent. ‘Liz and Dick’ is badly paced, cheap-looking and encrusted with a tinkly, preposterous soundtrack that is designed to make viewers go insane. It’s also littered with exposition-heavy segments in which Liz and Dick reminisce about their past, perhaps from beyond the grave. In those segments, they wear matching black ensembles and essentially narrate their own lives, much to their own amusement. In doing so, they make these rich and eventful lives sound a lot less interesting than they actually were. There is drinking game fun to be had here, but that’s all ‘Liz and Dick’ really offers. Please, don’t drink every time one half of the lead duo downs some vodka or every time Lohan provides an absolutely affectless line delivery — I don’t want to be responsible for any deaths by alcohol poisoning.” — Maureen Ryan, The Huffington Post

“Liz Dick” airs Sunday, November 25 at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime.

Lindsay Lohan’s ‘Liz & Dick’ Casting ‘A Very Smart Decision’

It’s hard to believe that Lindsay Lohan only shot “Liz Dick” for three weeks, given how much buzz and hype surrounded not only her casting, but any drama that went down on set.
Some of that action included a health scare after she was reportedly found unconscious in her hotel room and an investigation into the film’s overzealous production from a number of Hollywood unions. That was all happening while everyone was just wondering if the actress would be able to finish the film without incident.

In the end, she did. “Liz Dick” airs November 25 on Lifetime, and co-star Grant Bowler still can’t believe how much gossip and press surrounded Lohan’s involvement in the film. “There is a little bit of hype about it, isn’t there? People have noticed,” Bowler told MTV News on Friday (November 16).

“I was surprised [by the attention]. I had obviously, I had been aware of Lindsay. I had never been a part of a project where that kind of marketing publicity, tabloid-type thing impacted [it] from the beginning,” he added. “It was interesting. It was a whole new deal.”

In a lot of ways, the production didn’t veer too far from the life and times of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, the headline-making Hollywood A-listers the film is based on. They set the bar for modern-day celebrity culture and the paparazzi attention that follows it, so hiring tabloid-target Lohan made all the sense in the world.

“I think it was a very smart decision on a lot of levels,” Bowler said. “And it has been interesting, because reading the press before we started, there was a lot of questioning, like, ‘Why cast Lindsay as Elizabeth Taylor?’ And then right from the start, by the very fact that the tabloids were running around after it, you had your answer.”

Lohan also makes for a pretty spot-on Liz Taylor, given that they both know what it feels like to always have someone speculating about your personal life.

“I mean, these were the two most written-about people of their day, far more notorious or scandalous a relationship, if you like, than any that’s gone on since. The pope made a comment on their relationship officially from the Vatican. I don’t think that’s ever happened again. It kind of tops a Brangelina or anything that we’ve got these days. They were all over the place, those two.”

Miley Cyrus To Join ‘Bonnie And Clyde’ Lifetime Miniseries?

Miley Cyrus might soon be playing one of cinema’s ultimate bad girls, Bonnie Parker, on the small screen. Rumor has it that she may tackle the part of the infamous crook, one half of Bonnie and Clyde, in a Lifetime miniseries.

The actress is currently meeting with directors and the series would air on both the Lifetime and History networks, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That would mark the first time a program has aired on both sister networks. “Smash” executive producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan will produce the series.

A rep for Cyrus had yet to respond to MTV News’ request for comment by press time. Casting for Bonnie’s criminal beau, Clyde Barrow, has yet to be announced.

The real life Bonnie and Clyde became sensations when they went on a bank robbery and murder spree in the 1930s with their crew. The couple was eventually cornered by Louisiana police officials and killed.

If Cyrus should join the series it would mark her latest turn on TV. She is set to make a cameo on this season of “Two and a Half Men.” She is set to play Missi, the daughter of one of Walden’s (Ashton Kutcher) friends. In photos released last week, Cyrus seems to be doing her best to mix it up with the “Men” crew as she sports lots of short shorts and even climbs into bed with Walden wearing nothing more than skimpy lingerie.

The casting would also mark another big-time starlet appearing on the Lifetime network. Lohan is set to play Elizabeth Taylor in the “Liz Dick” biopic set to premiere in November.

Lindsay Lohan Is ‘Elizabeth Taylor Reincarnated’

In a new behind-the-scenes featurette for her Lifetime biopic, “Liz Dick,” Lindsay Lohan is opening up quite extensively about her headline-making life and how it really isn’t much different than the one Elizabeth Taylor led.

“I’m a huge Elizabeth Taylor fan,” she says in the clip about the chance to portray the Hollywood icon for the movie. “And I relate to her on a lot of levels … living in the public eye, dealing with the stress of what other people say, whether it’s true or not.”

Both Lohan and Taylor rose to fame as child stars before their personal struggles made them magnets for tabloid drama. “I personally understand Liz, because you’re living your life for everyone to see, and people are growing with you. You get to a point where you become numb to it,” she added. “And you just live your life the way you feel you need to live it.”

In a poster released for the film, Lohan sports a lot of bling, an obvious homage to Liz’s love for diamonds. Well, as it turns out, Lindsay can also relate to that. She added, “I love diamonds, and she appreciated them and it made her happy.”

The film revolves around Taylor’s gossip-prone relationship with fellow Hollywood legend Richard Burton. Burton will be imagined by “True Blood” actor’s Grant Bowler who in the teaser praises Lohan’s take on his on-screen love. He says, “Lindsay’s excellent to work with. She’s pretty much Elizabeth Taylor reincarnated.”

The movie premieres on Lifetime in November. A teaser trailer for the film was released last week, and while Lohan doesn’t say a lot in it, she does channel the actress’ ultra-glamorous style in a variety of vintage looks.

Lindsay Lohan Gives Fans Look At ‘Liz & Dick’ With Teaser Trailer

Lindsay Lohan is finally giving fans with a look at her latest acting gig, portraying tabloid queen Elizabeth Taylor, in the brand-new teaser trailer for the Lifetime film “Liz Dick.”

Lohan channels the screen icon’s ultra-glamorous style in the teaser as she throws bottles at, cries, fights and gets frisky with “True Blood” actor Grant Bowler, playing Taylor’s most infamous real-life and on-screen love interest, Richard Burton. (“They drink. They fight. They fornicate!” one character says in the clip.)

The trailer only features a few moments of dialogue from Lohan, and her snappiest line comes at the trailer’s end. When shamed for ending her fourth marriage, she snaps back, “Who’s counting?”

“Liz Dick” is set to premiere on Lifetime in November. Lohan shot the film over the summer, and by August, fans got to see some official stills from the film, including a look at Lohan in full Cleopatra costuming.

Filming, however, wasn’t all smooth sailing. The production was investigated by International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA after multiple reports surfaced of the cast and crew suffering from exhaustion. The investigation was also tied to an incident where Lohan was found unconscious in her hotel room.

She later joked about the incident on Twitter, writing, “Note to self. After working 85hours in 4days, and being up all night shooting, be very aware that you might pass out from exhaustion 7 paramedics MIGHT show up @ your door. Hopefully theyre cute. Otherwise it would be a real let down.”

Amid more personal troubles for Lindsay Lohan, Lifetime has dropped the poster (via AceShowBiz) for the actress’ upcoming TV movie, “Liz Dick,” based on the life of Elizabeth Taylor. And, given how much of a spotlight has been put on both the late actress and Lohan over the years, the casting just might be a mark of genius on Lifetime’s part.

On it, Lohan rocks a black bob, black cocktail dress and enough diamonds and rubies to make Liz a bit jealous. While, the look is a pretty spot-on take of the style of Taylor, it’s the words splashed across the poster that not only speak to Liz’s life, but also Lohan’s.

“Controversial,” “Tabloid Front Page,” “Child Star,” “Paparazzi” and “Scandal” are among the terms that not only define the life of Liz, but also Lohan.

Lindsay Lohan Photos Reflect Glamorous Elizabeth Taylor

We are inching closer and closer to the premiere of Lindsay Lohan‘s latest work as Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s TV movie “Liz Dick,” and although the project does not yet have an official premiere date, the network just released a series of new photos to get its viewers amped up for the occasion.

The first of the three uniquely stylized photos shows Lohan-as-Liz in a re-creation of her marriage to Richard Burton (played by “True Blood” and “Ugly Betty” guest actor Grant Bowler). A heavily made-up and manicured Lohan is shown in a warm embrace with Bowler, her jet-black hair pulled back into an extravagant up-do decorated with flowers. The second photo shows Lohan on the set of the 1963 epic “Cleopatra,” lounging in what appears to be her palace and surrounded by ornately dressed servants. The third and final new photo is a more somber-themed shot of Lohan in a car being driven away from a pack of photographers. This final photo shows how Lohan was aged-up considerably to look like Taylor in her mid-to-late 30s.

Take a look at how Lindsay Lohan channels Elizabeth Taylor in “Liz Dick”

The photos likely mark the beginning of a promotional push for Lifetime, in addition to a very short TV teaser they released late last month. “Liz Dick” is still expected to debut “this fall,” according to the teaser.

The Taylor/Burton relationship biopic has made headlines throughout its production, from the early paparazzi photos of Lohan in her Taylor wardrobe, to the on-set investigations conducted by the labor organizations International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA after multiple reports surfaced of both the cast and crew suffering from exhaustion, chiefly when Lohan was taken to the hospital after being found unconscious in her hotel room.

Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen May Die In ‘Scary Movie 5′

Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen may have overcome a few setbacks in real life, but things aren’t looking too bright for the twosome on the big screen. They are set to meet some terrible fates in “Scary Movie 5.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lohan and Sheen will not only play “the world’s hottest new couple” but at least one will die in the film’s opening sequence. As previously reported, Sheen will revive his role of Tom Logan from the previous “Scary Movie” flicks, while details about Lohan’s character remain a bit more mysterious, aside from her character’s romantic ties to Logan.

“Expendables 2″ star Terry Crews has also just joined the cast, which already includes Ashley Tisdale and Erica Ash as the leading ladies. Filming will begin in September with Malcolm Lee in the director’s chair and screenwriter David Zucker on board to pen the script. Zucker worked with Sheen on “Scary Movie 3″ and “Scary Movie 4″ and he also wrote classics like “Airplane!” and the “Naked Gun” movies. The film is expected to open on April 19, 2013.

The comedy is the latest move for Lohan, as she continues to inch her way back into the world of films and away from her tabloid-making drama. She wrapped up the Lifetime biopic, “Liz Dick,” about Elizabeth Taylor earlier this summer and is currently working on the edgy drama, “The Canyons,” written by Bret Easton Ellis and featuring adult film star James Deen.

Since parting ways with “Two and a Half Men,” Sheen has been starring on the FX sitcom, “Anger Management.” He is set to play the president of the United States in Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete Kills” alongside an A-list cast, including Lady Gaga.
