Jonas Brothers Say New Song Is Coming ‘Very Soon’

LAS VEGAS — Although Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas had an official job to do at the iHeartRadio Music Festival — introduce Enrique Iglesias — the most dedicated and astute fans might assume that their appearance at the two-day, star-studded festival meant the boys have some music news to make in the very near future. According to the JoBros themselves, those assumptions would be correct.

When MTV News caught up with Nick, Kevin and Joe just before their Enrique intro on Saturday night, we asked them that very question.

“It could just mean that we heart radio and this is a combination of our love,” Nick joked. “No, but it does mean that the album is coming along and that we’re days, if not hours away from choosing a single so it’s very exciting. We’ve got a good team around us and we’re excited to get the music out there for our fans.”

As for when we might hear said single, the guys don’t have an official release date or goal set yet.

“As soon as possible,” Kevin said of their preferred release.

“Yeah, we want to do it really quickly,” added Joe. “Luckily, we’re in a position where we get to decide if we wanted to do it tonight, but I think we’re kind of lining it up to our show we have at Radio City coming up very soon, so it should be around that time.”

So is this a get-up-and-dance single or a slow ballad or what?

“It’s a ‘Get-up-and-then-sit-down-and-then-dance’ [single],” Joe teased.

“Wow, that’s deep,” said Nick. “It’s a little bit of a, especially for us to describe it, it’s something that people can dance to that also puts them in a place, brings them to a certain atmosphere, gives them a vibe about the seasons that we’ve been through these last three years in sort of doing our own thing.”

Randy Jackson Back On ‘American Idol’ Panel?

Everything old is new again on “American Idol.” Following weeks of reports that sole remaining original judge Randy Jackson would be sliding from the panel to a mentoring role
, it appears that the big dawg might be back in the game.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote on Monday that after eyeing Enrique Iglesias as a possible fourth judge, talks have broken down and Jackson, who has been a judge since the show’s 2002 debut, is back in the mix.
Though Mariah Carey has been confirmed as the new face
of the show, the other two spots on the panel remain in flux, with reports that Nicki Minaj
and country star Keith Urban are still hammering out details of their deals to join the #1 reality show in prime time for the upcoming 12th season.

While a spokesperson for Fox did not return requests for comment at press time, former “Idol” lead judge Simon Cowell appears to have spilled the beans. The “X Factor” boss tweeted on Monday, “Just heard Randy is back on ‘Idol.’ Right decision.” Jackson, who co-manages Carey, made a number of appearances on Monday to discuss his campaign to spread the word about diabetes on CNN and “The Today Show,” but when talk turned to his gig on “Idol,” he was mum.

“Listen, it’s an amazing show,” he told Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on “Today.” He praised his pal Carey and said she would bring “a lot of excitement … let’s see what happens.” He also deflected talk of who else would be on the panel when asked to confirm Minaj and Urban’s signings.

Randy Jackson Off ‘American Idol’ Panel?

Say it ain’t so, dawg!

It looks like “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson is headed for the showers. The only remaining original panelist to offer opinions on all 11 seasons has survived five years of upheaval that has had him sitting next to everyone from songwriter Kara DioGuardi, to talk show host/comedian Ellen DeGeneres and Jennifer Lopez.

But TMZ is claiming that long-running rumors
that he might be changing roles are now confirmed. According to the site, sources claim that Jackson has officially moved from the judge’s table to a mentoring role. At press time, a spokesperson for “Idol” had no comment on the reports.

Jackson, who co-manages newest judge, Mariah Carey
, has not spoken publicly about the report, but if it’s true it would signal the first-ever wholesale judging change in the show’s history.

Reports persist that Nicki Minaj is close to signing a deal to join Carey, who is reportedly not keen on the idea of sharing the spotlight with the attention-grabbing rap star. TMZ also reported that “Idol” is considering a return to a four-judge panel, with a country singer being eyed for the third seat and no leading contenders announced for the final place.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Minaj and country star Keith Urban are very close to signing deals and the show is pursuing Enrique Iglesias for the final slot.

Jennifer Lopez Quits ‘American Idol,’ Makes Way For Mariah Carey?

By Kelley L. Carter

Jennifer Lopez has officially announced her departure from “American Idol” and now it’s rumored that Mariah Carey is in talks to replace the superstar judge.

In a tearful interview with Ryan Seacrest on Friday morning (July 13), the pop star said her plate is too full and she is bowing out of her position as judge. She doesn’t want to close the door completely, she said, but the time has come.

Steven Tyler announced his exit Thursday evening; earlier Thursday,Lopez said in a “Today” show interview that she was wrestling with the decision to stay or go.

During her radio chat with Seacrest, who also hosts “Idol,” she didn’t play coy. Lopez, who kicks off a tour with Enrique Iglesias on Saturday, said she’s been in tour mode since the “Idol” finale. Seacrest told her that since her “Today” show interview, his phone had been blowing up, but he had no idea if she was going to stay or go.

“It’s just been a really long, tough process,” Lopez said. “Ryan, you know more than anybody, I’ve been telling the truth. I really have been torn. When I signed on to ‘Idol,’ I signed on to do one year. I ended up doing two years because I just fell so in love with the show. You know that. I never felt so much part of a family of something working on it as I did with ‘Idol.’ I didn’t know I’d be so moved emotionally. It was just such a lovely surprise in my life to do it. But even last year, when I had to make the decision [to come back for a second season], it was super tough to decide. I have my movies and my music and my this and my that. It all kind of worked together for a while. But it gets complicated.”

Lopez said she started to feel very weighed down. “Something has to give. And I think that’s where I am right now,” she said.

Seacrest then asked: “So does that mean we’re co-workers or not?”

“I really was dreading this phone call with you,” she responded. “Of all the people that I’ve spoken to, I have no problem not saying anything to anybody. But with you … you’re going to make me cry,” she said, trailing off before picking back up and saying, “I honestly feel like the time has come where I have to get back to doing the other things that I have to do that I put on hold because I love ‘Idol’ so much.”

Lopez said she had a lot of other responsibilities with her many businesses. “I could keep doing ‘Idol’ for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things. And, I don’t know, I feel like we’ve had an amazing run,” she said. “I feel like no matter what you guys need over there, I’m always going to be here.”

And before they finished discussing her departure, Lopez concluded: “It’s really going to be hard for me to go. It’s just one of those special things in your life that you don’t want to walk away from. It wasn’t even playing any games or wanting more money. It was just … being smart about making a business decision. I had to really be responsible in that moment. I had to weigh out a lot of responsibilities that I have.”

Jennifer Lopez Tearfully Confirms ‘American Idol’ Exit

Jennifer Lopez is leaving “American Idol.”

Taylor Swift, Usher, Rihanna Set For iHeartRadio Music Festival

Wondering who will take the stage at the second annual iHeartRadio Music Festival this year? Well, on Monday (July 9), the A-list-filled roster was announced.

In a press release, Clear Channel confirmed that Taylor Swift, Aerosmith, Rihanna, Usher, Bon Jovi, Lil Wayne, Green Day, Swedish House Mafia, No Doubt, Brad Paisley, Pitbull, deadmau5, Miranda Lambert, Enrique Iglesias, Linkin Park, Jason Aldean, Pink, Mary J. Blige, Calvin Harris and Shakira will all take the stage during the two-day festival. Ryan Seacrest will host.

“The iHeartRadio Music Festival is a unique celebration of music — it’s the biggest names in the industry coming together for an impressive weekend of live entertainment,” Seacrest said in a statement. “The momentum, energy and music experience around the inaugural iHeartRadio Music Festival was incredible, and I’m excited to be a part of this must-see event.”

More artists are expected to be added to the lineup closer to the show, which will take place on September 21 and 22 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Tickets for the two-day fest will go on sale on July 14.

“The iHeartRadio Music Festival is the ultimate celebration of what’s hot in all genres of music, from rock, pop and country to electronic dance music, RB and hip-hop,” Tom Poleman, president of Clear Channel national programming and executive producer of the festival, added in the release. “For the first time, fans from across the country will get to see today’s megastars like Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Usher on the same stage as legends like Aerosmith, Mary J. Blige and Bon Jovi. I’m sure we’ll have hundreds of memorable moments throughout the festival. It’s the concert line-up of the year for both fans and artists.”

Ludacris Reaches New ‘Heights’ With Ludaversal

Hard to imagine that Ludacris can get any bigger, but with more than a dozen years in the rap game, Luda is looking to take things to another level on his next album.

“This album Ludaversal, it’s all about progression. We’re taking it to heights that you never, ever seen before,” the Atlanta MC told MTV News earlier this month at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee.

It’s been two years since Luda dropped Battle of the Sexes, and the rapper/actor aims to catch his fans up on all of his goings-on. “I’ve had seven albums, so right now it’s about trying to go places that I haven’t been. I’ve traveled over the world for the past year and I brought a lot of experiences back with me and put ‘em in the music,” he said. “I’ve had a lot of personal experiences, so you’re going to get to know the real me and things that have been going on over the past three or four years.”

When it comes to MCing, you’d be hard-pressed to find a rapper more skilled than Luda. Still, as an artist, he has been able to grow and venture into the world of pop thanks to key collaborations with Justin Bieber, Enrique Iglesias and David Guetta.

With Ludaversal, Cris said he will continue to grow and branch out musically while still keeping things deeply rooted in hip-hop. The album’s first single, “Jingalin,” is an LL Cool J-inspired dance record, but Luda will keep things interesting with records with Usher and David Guetta as well.

While Ludaversal doesn’t have an official release date, Cris said he hopes to drop it on his birthday, September 11.

Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian Join List Of Odd White House Correspondents’ Guests

You expect celebs like George Clooney, Charlize Theron, Steven Spielberg and even MTV News’ own Sway to get invites to Washington’s annual night off from partisan bickering replaced with biting political jokes known as the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. It’s a tradition to mix real Hollywood with the biggest stars in politics at the gathering, which over the years has made for some truly odd place settings.

This year is no exception, as tabloid staples Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan have made the cut, meaning they will be rubbing elbows with the likes of Zooey Deschanel, Paul Rudd, Stevie Wonder, “Hunger Games” star Josh Hutcherson, Mary J. Blige, “The Artist” star dog Uggie, Diane Keaton, John Legend and “Portlandia” co-stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. This is actually Kardashian’s second go-round, as she was a guest of Fox News in 2010, though this is the first invite for Lohan.

While the Washington Post noted that the picks tend to be a bit safer these days, Lohan and Kardashian follow in the tradition of such past in-the-headlines-right-now choices as Ozzie Osbourne in 2002 and Ellen DeGeneres in 1997. The actress was making her first appearance in public with a girlfriend that year, when she appeared with Anne Heche shortly after coming out as a lesbian.

But because media organizations get to submit their own guest list, it makes a weird Tinsel Town sense that curvy Sofia Vergara got the nod from ABC News along with “Modern Family” co-stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Julie Bowen. The Huffington Post reserved a slot for Dakota Fanning, as well as Daniel Day Lewis and “True Blood” co-stars and mates Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, while Newsweek made room at a table for Reese Witherspoon.

Lohan and Kardashian aren’t the only strange bedfellows to make the cut recently. In 2011, you might have seen such invitees as “American Pie” alum Jason Biggs hanging with Bristol Palin, snowboarder Shaun White, “Dancing with the Stars” co-host Brooke Burke, Paula Abdul and Zach Galifianakis.

The 2010 list was even weirder, ranging from Betty White and Jon Bon Jovi to Chace Crawford, Enrique Iglesias, Ashley Greene, Justin Bieber and Jessica Simpson. Not to be outdone, in 2009 you got the almost-First Vice Husband, Todd Palin, as well as former “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi, then-husband/wife Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, Tyra Banks, hero pilot “Sully” Sullenberger, George Lucas, Sting, Ludacris, Alicia Keys and Natasha Bedingfield.

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting his year’s show, and while Kardashian’s current man, Kanye West,
is reportedly finishing up a short film in Qatar , it doesn’t sound like he’ll be flying in to be by her side on Saturday night. Kardashian will be attending with her mother, Kris Jenner, as a guest of Fox News, while Fox talking head Greta Van Susteren put Lohan on the list.

Kim Kardashian’s Kanye Earrings And Other Celeb PDA

When it comes to the various ways in which celebrity couples offer up public displays of affection, the ante was raised yet again when Kim Kardashian was spotted over the weekend wearing earrings with the initials of rumored boyfriend Kanye West.

But Kim is hardly the first star to wear her heart on her sleeve (or in her ear). Let’s take a look back at five other unique celeb PDAs:

Tattoos
No matter how well De Beers has ingrained their slogan “A diamond is forever” into our brains, nothing says “I love you forever (hopefully)” like getting a tattoo of your lover’s initials, name and/or face. There are so many examples of celebrity couples who have expressed their love via this method that we could write a separate story. The couples who immediately come to mind are Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey, who both got their first-ever ink in celebration of their marriage. Other examples: Tori Spelling‘s hubby Dean McDermott has his wife’s face and décolletage on his shoulder, Marc Anthony had Jennifer on the inside of his wrist before their split, and David and Victoria Beckham.

Blood Bonds
Before there was Brangelina, there was the eyebrow-raising romance and eventual marriage between Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton. In addition to getting relationship-inspired tattoos to celebrate their love, Jolie surprised everyone by adorning her neck with an amulet that reportedly contained a few drops of Thornton’s blood.

Music Videos
If you’re a musician and in need of a love interest for your music video, why not invite your real-life love to make an appearance in said clip? In addition to several warm fuzzy stories that involve couples meeting on the sets of their music vids (Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley, Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova), there are plenty who have featured their boyfriends and girlfriends. Jennifer Lopez is the leading example, first with Ben Affleck‘s cameo in “Jenny From the Block” and most recently with new love Casper Smart in “Dance Again.”

Social Media
The advent of Twitter has brought the world a lot of things — over-sharing chief among them. We’ve become privy to the inner-workings of celebrity couples, thanks to their back-and-forth interaction on the social-networking site. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher basically kicked things off by frequently tweeting cute musings back and forth. They are survived by Khloé and Lamar Odom, Carey Hart and Pink, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden and Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey (again with the PDA!).

Nail Art
Before their very public breakup last year, Katy Perry took the whole PDA-by-body-art trend to another level when she showed up on the white carpet at the 2010 VMAs with then-husband Russell Brand’s face printed onto her fingernails. The gesture was in part due to the fact that Brand wasn’t able to attend the awards show that year, along with a tribute factor celebrating the couple’s initial introduction at the awards show in 2009.

Jennifer Lopez Enlists Enrique Iglesias For First World Tour

With a hot new single, “Dance Again,” and an upcoming greatest hits package to promote, Jennifer Lopez is hitting the road this summer, and she’s taking Enrique Iglesias with her.

The “American Idol” judge is set to launch a 60-date world tour in South America in June and will be joined by her “Mouth 2 Mouth” duet partner Iglesias. A source close to Lopez told Celebuzz she “is very excited about him joining the tour.”

“This will be a huge tour, complete with a lavish set, full band and team of dancers,” the source added.

While concert promoter AEG has not confirmed all dates, Lopez and Iglesias will reportedly visit the United States, South America, Europe and Asia this summer after this season of “Idol” concludes. The tour will snake through Venezuela, Chile, Argentina and Brazil before returning to the U.S. for a planned second round of production rehearsals with shows beginning here in mid-July.

Though she went on a brief tour with then-husband Marc Anthony in 2007, Lopez is looking at this trek as her first-ever full-on world tour. “I did a little minitour with Marc right when I was pregnant [with twins Max and Emme],” Lopez told Ellen DeGeneres last year. “We just did, like, 20 shows. But I’ve never really done the world tour thing.”

Iglesias was previously set to join Britney Spears on her “Femme Fatale” tour last year but pulled out just hours after the announcement was made, citing his belief that he was set to be Spears’ co-headliner, not her opening act.
