Yelawolf imagined that things would be different after he dropped his debut album Radioactive last November. The Alabama spitter aimed to be literally be active on radio, but his record company dropped the ball he says.

Radioactive, the last project I put out was deliberately given to Interscope and it was on a f—ing silver platter, given to them to work. Like radio records after radio records, purposely, was my attempt,” Yela told Shade 45 radio host Rude Jude when he appeared on his and Lord Sear’s All Out show on Friday (June 29).

“These motherf—ers have given me one single in 11 months. So it’s like I don’t really understand where the importance is lined. That’s just me being real. Every artist gets frustrated at some point, I imagine, but I’ve never been one to hold my tongue and that’s just where I’m at,” he said.

Wolf was very clear in making the distinction between his parent company Interscope and his label Shady Records. For the Eminem-helmed imprint, Yela had nothing but praise. “I don’t know what the f— they’re doing up there. Shady’s great, I love Shady Records. I just think there’s some sh– going on upstairs. I don’t know what the f— is goin’ on,” he said.

Next up is Yelawolf’s The Heart of Dixie. He wouldn’t describe the project as a mixtape, but it’s not his official sophomore project either, it falls somewhere in between.

Interscope wasn’t the only one who got a shot thrown at them during the interview. After Jude asked Yela how he felt about comparisons to Machine Gun Kelly, Wolf took the opportunity to give MGK just a little of a ribbing. “It’s probably the most insulting thing on the planet, to be asked to sign a Machine Gun Kelly autograph,” he said. “I’m like ‘Yea, motherf—er. Let me sign your Birkenstock motherf—er.’”

Exclusive: 50 Cent Says Bulletproof SUV Saved Him In Car Crash

Riding around in a bulletproof SUV might seem a bit eccentric for some, but after getting shot nine times in 2000, moving around with that type of security became a standard for 50 Cent. Well, it seems the special sports utility vehicle may have saved Fif from serious injury after his car accident on Tuesday morning.

“We spun off into the rail. We would’ve flipped if it was a regular truck, but the truck weighs over a ton because it has additional stuff in it,” 50 Cent told MTV News on Friday (June 29) in an exclusive interview.

The G-Unit CEO’s vehicle was rear-ended while driving down the Long Island Expressway in New York. While Fif’s condition was still unknown at the time, pictures of him on a stretcher with a neck brace were published on his This Is 50 website. The “In Da Club” MC insists that he is fine, but he and his driver were taken to a hospital.

“We were just riding down the LIE and a Mack Truck — he said he lost control of the vehicle later to police officers because his load shifted,” 50 explained. “He tried to brake, his load shifted, and he lost control and he ran into the back of the truck. It did more damage to the Mack Truck than it did to my truck, ’cause I got a level six; it’s a bulletproof vehicle. It’s the same standard as what they’re moving Obama around in.”

Besides a little stiffness the next day, Fif assured us that he is doing good. What seemed more troublesome to him was the critics who charged that the multiplatinum MC and music mogul used the accident as a publicity stunt to drum up excitement for his new album Five (Murder by Numbers), which he is releasing next week, on July 3.

“Trust me, I have enough money to not hit myself with a Mack Truck to try to get a few dollars,” he said. “What’s the thought process on this? It makes no sense to me.”

Stick with MTV News next week as we bring you much more from our exclusive sit-down interview with 50 Cent.

Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes: In Their Own Words

The end of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ five-year marriage undoubtedly dominated watercooler conversation Friday (June 29), as People magazine broke the news that Holmes was filing for divorce. And, really, what other reaction could be expected, considering tongues have been wagging about this high-profile romance from the beginning?

But it was never just gossip-mongers who had something to say; a previously tight-lipped Cruise slackened his jaw considerably when he fell under Holmes’ spell. One jump on Oprah Winfrey‘s couch and things would never be the same.

As the couple part ways, we look back at their very public declarations of affection:

A Childhood Crush
Perhaps one of the sweetest sentiments Holmes ever expressed about her husband came before the two even met. In an interview for the October 2004 issue of Seventeen magazine, the actress revealed her childhood crush on the “Top Gun” actor. “I think every little girl dreams about her wedding,” Holmes said. “I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise.” Holmes later confirmed her feelings on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” saying, “I’m glad I was a big dreamer.”

Couch Confessions
Speaking of that infamous sofa-storming episode of the syndicated talk show, Cruise had plenty of accolades for his new, younger girlfriend, whom he’d only been dating for a few weeks. “I’m in love. And it’s one of these things, where it’s like, you know, you wanna be cool. … That’s not me … I admired her and I thought I wanted to meet her. And I called her. … She’s an extraordinary woman,” he said. “She cares about other people … and she has a real joy about life.”

Serious Stuntman
Holmes traveled to the 2010 Sundance Film Festival sans Cruise as the actor was busy filming the action film “Knight and Day” with co-star Cameron Diaz. When asked whether she ever fretted over her husband’s dangerous scenes, Holmes replied that she had the utmost faith in his capabilities. “He’s such a pro, and he’s great at it,” she said. “He prepares really well, and that’s what he does. He does it right, and it’s cool, so I get excited. I’m like, ‘Wow! That’s my husband!’ “

Sometime Serenader
When MTV News’ Josh Horowitz caught up with Cruise in 2010 while promoting his film “Valkyrie,” talk turned to the actor’s vocal stylings and whether he ever serenaded Holmes with a little “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’,” à la “Top Gun.” “Not nightly. but I’ll bring it out when I need to,” Cruise said with a grin. “Not that she needs it, but she likes a little bit of that. It’s what you need and what you want. I’m here to deliver what she needs and what she wants.”

“Rock of Ages” Recommendation
Holmes must have enjoyed Cruise’s serenading more than he led on, because the “Rock of Ages” star admitted his main motivation for joining the movie musical was Holmes’ insistence. “Kate kept saying, ‘You’ve got to make a musical.’ The dancing of ['Tropic Thunder' character] Les Grossman is inspired because Kate is a dancer, she sings, and she would take us to [dance classes],” he revealed. “[She would say] ‘I’ve got this dance class for the family. Come on we’ve got to do it, we’ve got hip-hop class, we’ve got to do it.’ “

When Katie Met Tom: A Look At Holmes’ Recent Career

A lot changed for Katie Holmes when she met Tom Cruise — not just personally, but professionally. The two became a couple in 2005, gave birth to daughter Suri and married in 2006, and ultimately went their separate ways six years later following the announcement of their divorce on Friday (June 29).

Between her marriage and divorce from Cruise, Holmes’ professional life went through several ups and downs, beginning with her two-year hiatus from acting between 2005 and 2008 — a pause that occurred during what was perhaps the most exciting time in the actress’ career.

In the years before her relationship with Cruise began, Holmes put an end to her longtime role in “Dawson’s Creek” and enjoyed celebrated turns in “Go,” “Wonder Boys” and “Pieces of April.” But her biggest role to date came very shortly before becoming a public item with the “Top Gun” actor, a role that saw her at the center of a genre-defining franchise: Christopher Nolan’s Batman series.

Holmes starred in the filmmaker’s 2005 picture “Batman Begins” as Rachel Dawes, an assistant district attorney who had a history with Bruce Wayne and a tendency to get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her performance was the most criticized of the “Begins” cast, though not necessarily because of her work; she was surrounded by an all-star group of once and future Oscar winners and nominees, including Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Liam Neeson — a tough act to stand up to for any young actor.

She had the opportunity to prove her detractors wrong with “The Dark Knight,” Nolan’s 2008 sequel to “Begins” that debuted with the single-greatest domestic opening weekend at that time. (It’s now ranked third, behind “Avengers” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.”) The Dawes character played a pivotal, tragic role in the shaping of both Batman and one of the film’s primary antagonists, Harvey “Two-Face” Dent. But the actress was not around to meet the challenge.

Filming on “Dark Knight” was set to begin around the same time that Holmes’ work hiatus was coming to an end in early 2007. But the actress, newly married to Cruise, decided not to return to gritty Gotham City, opting instead for a role in the considerably sunnier “Mad Money,” a bank-heist comedy co-starring Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah. To hear Holmes tell it, she had no regrets about saying goodbye to Batman forever.

“I wish them all the best for this summer,” Holmes told MTV News in 2008 ahead of the release of “Dark Knight.” “I had a great experience working with Chris Nolan, [and] I’m sure it’s going to be a great movie. [But] I chose to do this movie ['Mad Money'], and I’m really proud of it.” Critics did not share Holmes’ pride: the film earned a 23 percent fresh rating on review aggregator RottenTomatoes.com and netted only $20.5 million during its box-office run.

In fairness, Holmes’ return to acting after marrying Cruise and giving birth to their daughter came with a wide variety of diverse credits — some well-received, and others … not so much.

After a brief but revealing (in more ways than one) turn in 2000′s “The Gift,” Holmes tried her hand at horror again with 2010′s “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark,” this time as a lead. The film fared slightly better with critics than “Mad Money”; if nothing else, Holmes embraced a challenging role (with a shocking ending) wholeheartedly. Holmes also dabbled in television during her marriage to Cruise, with memorable guest-starring turns on “Eli Stone” and “How I Met Your Mother.” Additionally, she committed to the iconic role of Jackie Kennedy opposite Greg Kinnear as JFK in “The Kennedys” — a miniseries that was critically maligned even before it hit airwaves, ultimately settling on mixed reviews upon its debut. Her case was not helped much by her involvement in “Jack and Jill,” the Adam Sandler comedy widely regarded as the low point of the comedian’s career.

In her post-Cruise future, Holmes has two promising projects on the horizon. She’s attached to an untitled Christian Camargo film alongside a strong cast, including William Hurt, Michael Nyqvist and Allison Janney. In addition, she’ll star in “Responsible Adults,” a romantic comedy that sees Holmes playing a med student who starts a romantic relationship with a young man (Zac Efron) she babysat 15 years earlier.

Correlation is not causation, but there’s no denying that during her marriage to Cruise, Holmes’ work as an actress paled in comparison to the excitement of her headline-grabbing personal life. (She certainly never met the heights that her fellow “Dawson’s” veteran Michelle Williams, a three-time Oscar nominee, has enjoyed.) Though attention is bound to center on her divorce in the days and weeks to come, one hopes that it won’t be long before Holmes finds her way back to the exciting path her career was on before her relationship with Cruise began — for her sake and ours.

Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Divorce: A Timeline

As the news that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce sent shock waves across the Net on Friday (June 29), the next thought is, “What happened?” While fans are unlikely to get a specific answer to that question soon, we can at least take a look back at the couple’s seven-year romance, one that was cemented in pop culture when the “Rock of Ages” star made a stunning declaration of his love on “Oprah.”

April 2005: Cruise, then 42, and Holmes, 26, stepped out in public for the first time on holiday in Rome. The first paparazzi photo of the couple showed them walking hand-in-hand, exiting a restaurant. According to a friend of the couple at the time, Cruise made the first move and asked Holmes out on a date.

May 2005: While deep into an international press tour for his action-thriller “Vanilla Sky,” Cruise made an unforgettable mark in pop-culture history with an appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey show.” As he gushes about his new lady love, Cruise is so overcome that he ends up jumping up and down on Oprah’s couch. “I’m in love!” Cruise said. “You’re gone!” Winfrey added after the ecstatic jumping.

June 2005: Cruise arranges to have the Eiffel Tower in Paris closed down to the public so that he can propose to Holmes in the most romantic fashion imaginable. And right around the time Tom put a ring on it, the “Dawson’s Creek” star appeared at the Movie Awards to present the actor with the MTV Generation Award with a giggly and gushing speech.

See photos of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes throughout their relationship.

October 2005: The happy couple announce that they’re expecting their first child.

April 2006: Holmes gives birth to daughter Suri Cruise.

November 2006: Cruise and Holmes are married in an Italian castle, a ceremony and celebration attended by a few of the most famous faces (and a few former couples) in Hollywood, including Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy.

October 2006: The world gets their first look at baby Suri via the cover of Vanity Fair and a beautiful photo spread captured by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

April 2007: Cruise and Holmes organize a stylish soiree for Suri’s first birthday in Los Angeles.

May 2007: With the constant media attention, Cruise and Holmes’ marriage is under the public microscope and the first rumors about trouble in their marriage start to surface. Reports say Holmes is being controlled by Cruise among other marital strife; all of the claims are denied by their closest friends and relatives.

October 2007: Cruise expresses “mushy” sentiments ahead of the couple’s first wedding anniversary. “It was very beautiful,” he says of their wedding. “As big as it was from the outside, it was a very personal experience and something obviously I’ll never forget.”

January 2008: The troubled-marriage rumors strike again when Holmes hits the promotional circuit to promote her first movie since being married to Cruise, “Mad Money,” in the wake of the publication of a scathing unauthorized Cruise biography. “There’s obviously been a lot that’s been said about our relationship,” she tells People magaizine. “There was stuff in the news about our daughter. That’s just not okay. It’s something that I don’t stand for. I am a mother. I will stand up for my family.”

June 2008: Cruise and Holmes make a covert appearance at the MTV Movie Awards. The couple stealthily avoid the crowded red carpet and sneak in a back entrance, where Cruise later presents the Generation Award to Adam Sandler.

December 2008: Cruise makes a surprise appearance on our very own “The Hills: Live After Show” to offer Spencer Pratt advice on his (ill-fated) marriage to Heidi Montag. “If the girl wants the wedding, you gotta do the wedding,” Cruise tells Pratt. “She’s gonna remember it forever. And you gotta make it a special occasion. Spencer, dude, you’ll realize this later.”

May 2010: Holmes performs a sexy version of “Whatever Lola Wants” for Cruise at a Hollywood benefit. She seals the serenade with a kiss, of course.

September 2010: Holmes reveals that their romance is very much alive in that Cruise always sends his bride red roses when they travel. She also tells Marie Claire that she and Cruise might consider expanding their family in a couple of years. “Right now, I want to make sure I’m really there for Suri,” she says.

July 2011: Holmes surprises Cruise with a 49th birthday party in Florida where he’s on location filming “Rock of Ages.”

December 2011: During another worldwide press tour in support of “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” Cruise tells People that he falls in love with Holmes more and more every day. “It’s been quite an amazing five years because of her. She’s an incredible woman,” he gushes. She’s everything to me.”

Tom Cruise ‘Deeply Saddened’ By Katie Holmes Divorce

Tom Cruise has issued a statement responding to Katie Holmes‘ divorce filing Friday (June 29), saying he is “deeply saddened” by the end of their five-year marriage.

“Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children,” his rep told People in a statement. “Please allow them their privacy to work this out.”

News of the couple’s separation broke earlier in the day when Holmes’ attorney, Jonathan Wolfe, released a statement to People, saying, “This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.” TMZ is reporting that Holmes is seeking full custody of the couple’s daughter, Suri, in her divorce filing.

The pair wed at an Italian castle in 2006 in a lavish ceremony, attended by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy, after a whirlwind, very public and often controversial courtship that was perhaps best exemplified by Cruise’s couch-jumping display during a now-infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2005.

The pair have long been constantly at each other’s side, but in recent weeks had uncharacteristically attended events solo. Cruise appeared without Holmes at the London and Hollywood premieres of his summer musical “Rock of Ages,” while the actress was photographed in New York City with their daughter, Suri.

The marriage was Holmes’ first and Cruise’s third. The actor was previously married to actresses Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rogers.

Adele Is Pregnant

Singing sensation Adele announced Friday (June 29) that she is pregnant with her first child.

The Grammy-winning vocal powerhouse, 24, whose blockbuster album, 21, detailed the tumultuous end to her last relationship, is expecting a child with her boyfriend, 36-year-old Simon Konecki, a former financier and co-founder of the U.K. bottled-water company Life Water.

“I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together,” Adele wrote in a blog post titled “I’ve Got Some News” on her website. “I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx”

The happy news comes after years of troubled romantic relationships, which Adele has famously committed to song. Tracks like “Someone Like You” and the Grammy-winning “Rolling in the Deep” from her blockbuster album 21 dealt deeply and explicitly with her breakup from her last boyfriend.

Konecki also heads Life Water‘s charity, Drop4Drop, which brings clean water to developing countries. He has been married before, and after reports circulated earlier this year that he was still married when he and Adele began seeing each other, the singer was forced to address the rumors, writing on her website (via People), “Contrary to reports and headlines in the press today, Simon is divorced and has been for 4 years.”

21 has sold 9.3 million copies in the U.S. to date, according to Rolling Stone, making the set the biggest-selling record since Usher’s 2004 album Confessions. With the exception of her well-received performance at this year’s Grammy Awards, Adele has been taking it easy as she continues to recover from surgery related to a vocal cord hemorrhage.

‘Magic Mike’ Stars Hated Seeing That Thong

Ooh, that Steven Soderbergh, so scandalous!

The “Magic Mike” director tackles uncharted territory (by his standards, not by many a bachelorette party’s) in his male-stripper dramedy, hitting theaters Friday (June 29). But it’s not just the filmmaker exploring unknown waters in “Magic Mike.” The actors, too, had to embrace new facets of themselves, leading them to slip on some less than desirable clothing in the process.

“That thong, thong, thong, thong, thong,” star Joe Manganiello lamented when MTV News asked him which article of clothing gave him the most trouble in “Magic Mike.”

That doesn’t exactly narrow anything down, of course. The Channing Tatum-led pack of strippers sports all sorts of thongs in “Magic Mike,” so some specificity is in order. Co-star Matt Bomer said that it was the crew’s patriotic-themed thongs that provided the biggest headaches, literally and figuratively.

“The American flag one, for me, was the most problematic,” he said. “All of the holes were the same size. So in the dark at five in the morning, the math gets a little complicated.”

The wardrobe wasn’t uncomfortable for everyone on the “Magic Mike” team, however. Matthew McConaughey pointed out that Tatum was always wearing “comfy, comfy stuff” throughout shooting.

“Yeah, but that was sort of my own thing when I actually [was a stripper], because when I actually danced, I did a Boy Scout outfit, and I thought it was the lamest thing ever,” answered Tatum. “And I did a clown thing. But my favorite thing I did [was a dance to an] Usher [song], and I was just like, ‘No I’m going to pick the song that I like. I’m going to dress like the song should be dressed for,’ and that was it. I wanted to be normal; I didn’t want to do the kinda iconic stripper things.”

Tatum wasn’t the only one comfortable in his own skin. In the end, even Manganiello had to admit the costumes weren’t all bad.

“My gold lamé thong was actually quite comfortable,” he confessed.

Kanye West, Black Keys Lend New Songs To RZA’s ‘Iron Fists’

RZA has lined up quite the crew for his upcoming ultra-gory kung fu epic, “The Man With the Iron Fists,” and we’re not just talking about producer Quentin Tarantino or writer Eli Roth (or stars Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu, for that matter).

Not surprisingly, he’s also nabbed new music from a host of heavyweights, including Kanye West, the Black Keys and Wiz Khalifa — not to mention his group, the Wu-Tang Clan — for the film’s soundtrack.

Set in feudal China, “Iron Fists” stars RZA as a weapons maker (and titular dude with the metal hands) who is thrust into a battle between seven rival clans, each competing for a fortune in gold. It also stars Jamie Chung, former pro wrestler Dave Bautista, mixed martial artist Cung Le and a bevy of kung fu-flick vets, including Rick Yune and Byron Mann.

Judging from the new red-band trailer that was released Friday (June 29), “Iron Fists” looks like it packs a bunch: blood flows like ribbons, throats slit with poetic grace and eyeballs are crushed like grapes. There’s plenty of sex, gratuitous scene chewing by Crowe, and at one point, Bautista turns into metal … or something. Yeah, it looks pretty sweet.

In fact, about the only thing the trailer doesn’t reveal is an actual release date for the film, though an email from Universal says “Iron Fists” is “coming soon.” Needless to say, given everything we’ve just watched — not to mention that soundtrack — “soon” can’t come soon enough.

Katy Perry Doesn’t Want To ‘Hide’ From Divorce

Katy Perry‘s feature-film debut is every bit a concert movie as it is an emotional biography of sorts. For every scene that features her pop-star persona and killer stadium performances, there are several quieter, much more emotional scenes surrounding Perry’s very public split with Russell Brand that make “Katy Perry: Part of Me” a wholly moving film.

When MTV News caught up with Perry on Friday (June 22), we asked why she wanted to include footage of the moment when Perry realized her relationship with Brand was over and she couldn’t do anything but sob.

“In my personal struggle, you see me not changing and not giving up on this dream that I’ve had my whole life. Hopefully people are inspired by that,” Perry said. “You don’t always see me with all the gorgeous lighting and makeup on and all that. I think it’s fine. Hollywood is so fake and people need to realize that people are just people, and you, too, don’t need to be born into something or have money or have whatever product someone is hawking on you. Find out what your gift is and nurture it.”

Because the film is her film, there is naturally only one side of the Perry/Brand breakup shown, so we asked the “Wide Awake” singer if she felt pressure in revealing what happened to her and whether she wonders when and if another side to their story will come out in the media.

“The truth will always prevail,” Perry said. “Everything has to be handled with integrity and appropriately, and it’s not nice to air all your dirty laundry, because that stinks, so I had to be very delicate with the situation, but I couldn’t avoid the elephant in the room,” she explained. “If you were to have seen that movie and walked out and [my breakup] wasn’t at all mentioned like it never happened, you’d be like, ‘Eh, this is weird, what is she trying to hide?’ I don’t like to hide.”
