Leonard Nimoy Directs Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Today’s Twitter-Wood

Sometimes it’s hard to remember that a lot of today’s A-list celebrities began acting when they were young kids. Leonardo DiCaprio played Luke on the hit show “Growing Pains” and had an incredible performance in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.” Similarly, Kirsten Dunst landed a key role in “Interview with the Vampire” before breaking out in the biz. Today we were reminded of one of Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s first roles when Leonard Nimoy posted an old photograph. Talk about throwback!

The photo shows Nimoy directing JGL and Patricia Arquette in “Holy Matrimony,” a film following a Hutterite boy who, following his brother’s death, must marry his wife—an outsider to his Anabaptist community. Maybe we’ll add this movie to our Sick Day Stash.

But if you’re looking for a more recent JGL role, look no further than the 2012 MTV Movie Awards! Itching to see more of one of this summer’s most highly-anticipated films? We’ve got you covered! During our live broadcast, we’re debuting never-before-seen footage from “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Director Christopher Nolan and actors Christian Bale and Gary Oldman will even be on hand with JGL to introduce the new footage! It doesn’t really get more exciting than that, folks. Unless, of course, Batman himself showed up at your door with the film reel. That might be slightly more exciting.

Tune in to the Movie Awards on MTV this Sunday, June 3 at 9 p.m. ET to catch the exclusive!

Do you have a favorite role JGL played when he was younger? Spill it in the comments and on Twitter!

Benedict Cumberbatch’s ‘Star Trek’ Role Revealed?

52278 05 enterprise crew Benedict Cumberbatchs Star Trek Role Revealed?

There have been plenty of big questions surrounding the production of J.J. Abrams’ upcoming “Star Trek” sequel. What villainous character will Benedict Cumberbatch be playing? Does Leonard Nimoy actually return in the new movie? And just what will the flick be called other than “As Yet Untitled Star Trek Sequel”?

Some of those questions may now have answers (courtesy of the folks over at TrekMovie and Ain’t It Cool News), while some of them still remain a mystery (hint: it still doesn’t have an official title). If you were looking to keep yourself spoiler-free going into “Star Trek 2,” it would be best to turn away now: there are possible spoilers ahead. Consider yourself warned!

Benedict Cumberbatch Will Be Playing …
Even though we kept hearing repeated denials that Cumberbatch (and everyone else) would be playing Khan in Abrams’ alternate “Star Trek” universe, we never gave up our dream that he would be “Trek 2′s” big bad. And it turns out our dedication paid off. TrekMovie’s sources say Cumberbatch will in fact be exiled Eugenics War leader Khan Noonien Singh, though this won’t be a rehash of the “Star Trek” episode “Space Seed” that first introduced the character. If true, we’re excited to meet a brand new Khan in 2013, and are thrilled to see what Abrams and Cumberbatch do with the character.

Leonard Nimoy Is Coming Back In “Trek 2″
This one doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, especially since that recent interview with CNN. But yes, it appears as though Leonard Nimoy will be returning in “Star Trek 2″ as Spock Prime. The last we saw was him returning to help the Vulcans who survived Nero’s destruction of their planet, but it seems like he still has some work to do to help out the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise. As TrekMovie points out, this will be Nimoy’s eighth appearance in a “Star Trek” feature film, which will set a new record.

The Sequel Will Feature Klingons
Last but certainly not least, AICN is reporting that Klingons will play a pretty major role in “Trek 2.” This also doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as deleted scenes from 2009′s “Star Trek” showed that they were supposed to be introduced for the first time in that movie. Unfortunately their plot line was cut, but that won’t be the case this time around. The Klingon storyline will reportedly still be a subplot, but not one that is so easily discarded.

Ben Stiller And Adam Scott Engage In A Fight In Today’s Twitter-Wood

Before you put yourself on red alert and begin tweeting your friends, Ben Stiller and Adam Scott aren’t actually fighting. The duo is filming a fight scene for their dramady, “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.”

The adventure film follows Mitty (Stiller), a lonely magazine photo manager who lives life through daydreams while he looks through other people’s pictures. But when a negative goes missing, he leaves his fantasy world and heads off on his own journey. The film also stars Sean Penn, Kristen Wiig and rising comedian Patton Oswalt. While details of Scott’s role are unreleased, we expect lots of snarky lines from the “Parks and Recreation” actor.

Leonard Nimoy: ‘We’re Talking’ About Returning For ‘Star Trek 2′

fcb05 fringe4 Leonard Nimoy: Were Talking About Returning For Star Trek 2Leonard Nimoy has lived long and prospered as Spock for many years, though his final appearance alongside the good men and women of Starfleet seemingly occurred in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” reboot some years ago.

Not so fast, it turns out. Nimoy spoke with CNN last week during the launch of the space shuttle Enterprise in New York, and revealed that his days in space aren’t necessarily over.

“We’re talking, we’re talking,” the “retired” actor told the news outlet when asked if he’d ever appear in another “Star Trek” movie.

Adding further fuel to the return of Nimoy’s Spock in “Star Trek 2″ is a report from Ain’t It Cool News’ Merrick, who states: “I’ve also received some compelling independent confirmation that Nimoy is ‘absolutely’ in the new film.”

Ever since the science fiction icon announced his retirement from acting in April 2010, the man’s been surprisingly busy. He’s starred in several episodes of “Fringe” (and judging by events in recent episodes, he might even have a future on the Fox series’ upcoming fifth and final season), he provided the voice of Sentinel Prime in “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” and more. So to say that Nimoy is retired now isn’t exactly accurate — and hearing that he’s up for more “Star Trek” shenanigans definitely falls within the realm of possibility. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
