Beyonce Kicks Off World Tour As Drake Drops ‘Girls Love Beyonce’

Beyonce Kicks Off World Tour As Drake Drops Girls Love Beyonce

By Henna Kathiya

Beyonce is known for making headlines and things were no different for the beginning of her world tour. Bey kicked off her Mrs. Carter World Tour last night (April 15) in Belgrade, Serbia just as Drake was dropping his new single “Girls Love Beyonce” for the Internets.

We’ve seen Queen B is every kind of outfit imaginable at this point, and it’s well-known that she’s not afraid to show her curves- but she took it to a different level last night at the opening performance with a sequined bodysuit that showed a little more than she usually does.

Bey always took pride in the fact that her mom, Tina Knowles, designed all her outfits but last night Mommy Knowles’ design was not the one to take the stage. Beyonce enlisted the help of British designer Julien Macdonald to create the long-sleeved fringed bodysuit which boldly outlined her breasts and nipples for the crowd to see. It was definitely a new look for B. She had several other outfits for the show but this gold one was definitely the one that created the most buzz.

Beyonce has 64 more shows left that will take her through Europe, North America and South America.

Muse Cancel Shows After Matthew Bellamy Breaks Foot

Muse were forced to cancel a series of European shows this week after lead singer Matthew Bellamy broke his foot.

Though details on how the injury was sustained were not available at press time, the affected shows include gigs in Stockholm, Malmo and Oslo.

“We’re very sorry to have to announce that Muse’s forthcoming shows in Oslo, Stockholm and Malmo have been cancelled as Matt has broken two bones in his foot,” read a statement from the band. “The band have therefore made the difficult decision to cancel these gigs as they feel that they will not be able to do justice to their live show and the fans who have bought tickets with Matt performing on crutches. Muse would like to apologise to all their fans who have tickets to these shows. Refunds will be available from the point of purchase.”

On Thursday, Bellamy tweeted a photo of an X-ray showing the damage with the message, “Ouch! Broke my foot.” He followed with an image of himself standing with the aid of crutches while wearing an orthopedic boot on his right foot as a dog jumps up to lick his hand.

“Matt’s progress will be monitored over the next few days, but the remaining dates on the tour are still scheduled to go ahead as planned,” the statement added. “As soon as we have any news it will be posted on the Muse website, Facebook and Twitter accounts.”

While ticketholders tried to be understanding, some were clearly upset at the news. “This is the third time this has happened to me,” wrote fan Trackerjacker in comments on the band’s site. “I give up. I’m never gonna see muse live fml.”

Hejsan722 tried to calm rattled nerves, writing, “I’m not going to be bitter about this anymore. Still sad but it’s not their fault they had to cancel. I love them anyway and I will be there when they’re coming to Sweden. Because they will!”

Muse are not set to hit North America
on their tour in support of The 2nd Law until a February 2 date in Edmonton, Alberta.

‘Twilight’ Helps Box Office Break Thanksgiving Weekend Record

As the U.S. celebrated Pilgrims and Native Americans historically breaking bread together, vampires and werewolves continued to dominate the box office. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ was #1 a second time. And thanks to the similar holdover might of “Skyfall” and a few newcomers like the outperforming “Red Dawn” remake, the domestic box office broke a Thanksgiving weekend record, though DreamWorks Animation’s latest picture disappointed.

The overall box office took in an estimated $290 million from Wednesday through Sunday, easily besting the previous all-time high of $273 million from 2009. The final installment in the “Twilight” series generated another $64 million during the five-day period, driving the “Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ domestic total to $227 million (plus another $350 million overseas).

The latest and most financially successful movie in the world’s longest-running franchise, James Bond, was #2 with $51 million. “Skyfall” is already far beyond Daniel Craig‘s (or anyone else’s, for that matter) previous turns as 007. The 23rd entry in pop culture’s most beloved spy series has made $790 million overall, $221.7 million of it in North America.

Stephen Spielberg’s “Lincoln” was #3 with $34.1 million. Starring Daniel Day Lewis as America’s 16th president and set during the passage of the 13th Amendment, the Oscar favorite has made $62.2 million for Disney in America thus far.

Box-office forecasters had predicted that “Rise of the Guardians” could have given “Breaking Dawn” a run for its money, but the animated kids’ flick disappointed. The holiday-themed movie’s $32.6 million five-day debut at #4 was the worst opening for a DreamWorks Animation flick since 2006′s unfortunately/appropriately titled “Flushed Away.” The film’s decent reviews could help it find an audience as the holidays draw nearer. “Wreck-it Ralph,” a champion kids’ flick when it opened four weeks ago, wasn’t far behind over the weekend, landing at #6 and driving Disney Animation‘s domestic haul to $149.5 million.

Ang Lee‘s 3-D “Life of Pi” was #5 with $30.1 million against a reported production budget of $120 million. The remake of 1984′s “Red Dawn” didn’t open as strongly as “Guardians,” but it performed much better than expected. The fact that Chris Hemsworth (“The Avengers”) and Josh Hutcherson (“The Hunger Games”) starred in two of the year’s biggest movies, both released since the remake was filmed, undoubtedly helped “Red Dawn” make $22 million against a $65 million budget.

“Hitchcock,” starring Sir Anthony Hopkins as the iconic filmmaker, opened in 17 theaters with a so-so per-screen average of $17,000. Marion Cotillard’s “Rust and Bone” also opened in limited release. The French film took in $30,196 in two theaters.

Will ‘Skyfall’ Be The Biggest Bond Flick Yet?

There’s no doubt that the new James Bond flick will dominate the box office this weekend. But exactly how massive will “Skyfall” be? After all, it’s already made nearly $300 million overseas. So how will it do in North America?

Daniel Craig is back as 007, Adele provided the theme song, and 93 percent of critics endorsed the film as of press time, according to Rotten Tomatoes. All of which will add up to a winning formula for the 23rd entry in the enduring franchise.

Box-office prognosticators contacted by MTV News this week predicted a windfall between $75 and $85 million this weekend. ” ‘Skyfall’ has all the classic components that people want in a Bond film,” said IMDB’s Keith Simanton, who gave the film an 8 out of 10. “It’s as if Sony/MGM/the Broccolis said, ‘OK, we’ve deconstructed him, let’s reconstruct him!’”

MovieFanatic.com’s Joel Amos was similarly enthusiastic. “Not only have fans had to wait four years for a new Bond movie, but the solid critical response has been almost universal,” he pointed out.

No other studio was brave enough to go up against Bond. “Skyfall” is the only new movie in wide release. “It is becoming increasingly more common for studios to roll out blockbuster films in international markets before domestic these days,” noted Jeff Bock, box-office analyst for Exhibitor Relations. “With 007′s huge overseas numbers trumping all box-office news in the U.S. the last two weekends, there is certainly fervor over here. And that box-office buzz can only help punch up the grosses Stateside, as Bond’s latest adventure is the second in a row of the series to open wide without any competition.”

Stephen Spielberg’s “Lincoln,” which focuses primarily on the passage of the 13th Amendment, will open in extremely limited release in just a dozen locations. “Lincoln” should make a little over $1 million with a per-screen average around $100,000. “Don’t worry; it truly is the best film about Abraham Lincoln this year,” said Bock. “That means if you didn’t like ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ you’ll probably really enjoy this one.

“With demographics skewing towards much older adults, this will be a very difficult sell for a brand like Disney,” he added. “Think ‘War Horse’ numbers. Spielberg’s last film topped out at $80 million domestically and rang up $177 million worldwide.

Last weekend’s #1 movie, the arcade-themed “Wreck-it-Ralph,” won’t gather nearly as many quarters as before. Industry experts expect a decline in the 40-percent range, with the second weekend for “Ralph” coming in between $28 and $35 million.

Strong word of mouth will allow Denzel Washington’s “Flight” to continue to soar. ” ‘Flight’ has been a huge success for Paramount and Robert Zemeckis,” said Bock. “At a cost of just $31 million, it’s already made its budget back in just seven days of release. Expect a minimal drop in cabin pressure, as it coasts to a third place finish with an estimated $16.5 million.”

Which film will have the best shot at taking Bond down after “Skyfall” rules the box office? Why, a little movie called “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” of course. But as BoxOffice.com’s Phil Contrino pointed out, there are plenty of bucks to go around for each mega franchise. “It’s obviously not ideal to have two huge films open so close to each other,” he said. “But ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Breaking Dawn‘ are aimed at completely different audiences. There’s not a whole lot of overlap.”

Amos saw a future filled with a game of musical chairs. “Given the passion Twi-hards have for their series, the final Twilight film will keep Bond’s consecutive run at #1 to only one week. But what will be fascinating is the week after, I expect Bond to move back to the top spot as all the Twilight fans likely will witness their final chapter in that first week.”

Get ready for “Twilight” Takeover this Saturday and Sunday! Host Josh Horowitz will treat fans to exclusive interviews with Kristen, Rob, Taylor and the rest of the vampire saga cast. Whether it’s looking back on their first days on set or their craziest Movie Awards memories, we’ve got you covered all weekend throughout MTV‘s scheduled programming.

Rihanna Enlists A$AP Rocky For ‘Epic’ Diamonds Tour

Rihanna has found the perfect guy to link up with on her 2013 Diamonds Tour. Instead of recruiting her former (and reportedly current) flame Chris Brown — whom she teamed up with on a new track “Nobodies Business” — the singer has confirmed that A$AP Rocky will open for her when she hits the road next year.

She tweeted out the news on Wednesday, writing, “This is gonna be some Young Epic Rockstar sh–! See you on tour @asvpxrocky icon smile Rihanna Enlists A$AP Rocky For Epic Diamonds Tour #DIAMONDSTOUR #NorthAmerica.”

Fans might remember that Rihanna and A$AP tore up the 2012 VMA stage back in September when they performed a remix of her Talk That Talk track, “Cockiness.” While he wasn’t featured on the album version of the track, Rih Rih did enlist him for re-imagined version of the single.

Ellie Goulding Announces 2013 Halcyon Days Tour

Ellie Goulding will soon be packing her bags for her upcoming Halcyon Days Tour. The “Lights” singer will kick off her 2013 trek on January 16 in Miami.

The monthlong tour will make stops all over North America, including dates in Atlanta, New York City, Chicago and more. It will wrap up on February 12 in Los Angeles.

“I’m so excited to start touring my new album Halcyon properly,” Goulding said in a statement on Monday. “I’m incredibly proud of this record and the reaction has been over-whelming. Touring and playing shows is my favorite part of what I do, and I really can’t wait to get on the road.”

Following up the release of her 2010 debut album, which spawned the inescapable “Lights,” she dropped Halcyon earlier this month. “I’ve got more influences and different influences,” she told MTV News about her sophomore effort. “I think it’s a different sound. It is kind of a bit more tribal, a bit more anthemic.”

For it, the singer not only wrote about a former flame, but also worked with her current one, fellow EDM star, Skrillex. “I feel like everyone’s really fascinated by my love life for some reason. I think it’s because I write so explicitly about stuff. It’s just how I’ve always been, really, with lyrics and being really honest,” Goulding explained about people’s fascination with her personal life and its ties to her music.

She added, “I get girls writing to me saying I’ve really helped them through stuff, and it makes me feel incredible. You know, serious, heavy stuff. And that, to me, I feel is one of my biggest achievements. So maybe that’s the source of why people are so interested in who I am, in fact, with, or dating, whatever.”

In addition to Halcyon, Goulding’s work with Skrillex is also set to appear on the “Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ soundtrack, out next month. “I’m not a Twi-hard but I take it for what it is; it’s a cool thing and I can see why there’s a huge fanbase,” she said. “[And] they choose the best stuff for the soundtrack, so I’m really lucky to be a part of that!”

Usher Postpones Tour To Focus On Kids, ‘Voice’

Just a week after announcing the dates for a 21-stop European Euphoria Tour, Usher announced on Thursday (September 27) that he will be postponing those dates until fall 2013.

The swing in support of Looking 4 Myself was slated to kick off on January 18 with a gig at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, and it included gigs in London, Manchester, Hamburg, Oslo, Paris and Munich and a final show on March 14 in Nice, France.

“The feeling of euphoria that I get when performing for you is indescribable,” Usher wrote in a statement announcing the postponement. “I love each and every one of you and thank you for being there every step of the way. I truly appreciate and am grateful for your support while I take this time to focus on my children and continue to evolve with my fans. Evolve or evaporate.”

The statement elaborated that due to “professional and personal commitments” the singer has been forced to reschedule the European dates, citing his recently announced gig as a judge on “The Voice”
as one of the factors. “To ensure that his fans worldwide are treated to the best possible concert experience, the entire tour will be rescheduled to fall 2013 with dates in both North America and Europe scheduled to run concurrently at that time.”

Usher recently told MTV News that he’s totally pumped to get started on “The Voice” alongside fellow newbie judge Shakira.

“I’m really excited about it,” he said. “It’s the type of show that I feel really sets up an artist and makes it about what matters most first: the voice. Everything else comes afterwards in terms of the mentors; that’s what gives the personality, gives the opportunity to be an artist who will excel and transcend culture and also be able to tell an incredible story in music. So I like being able to be at that place. I love being a mentor.”

Green Day And Blink-182 Reuniting For Pop Disaster Tour 2.0?

On Monday (September 10), Green Day announced the first leg of dates in support of their upcoming ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tre! trilogy, a massive four-month trek that will take them to arenas all across North America (and if their performance at the 2012 VMAs was any indication, it’s going to be an epic show).

Of course, in announcing those dates, they also fueled speculation that perhaps something even bigger was in the works: a reunion with Blink-182, in honor of the 10-year anniversary of the Pop Disaster Tour, the co-headlining trek that also featured Jimmy Eat World and Saves the Day.

Fans of both bands pointed to an Instagram message from Blink’s Tom DeLonge, posted the day before Green Day announced their tour, which promised “some big news is coming,” and the fact that the long-dormant Pop Disaster site was also recently updated.

And while Green Day have yet to announce any of the bands that will share the bill on their tour, it seemed like Pop Disaster 2.0 could be a very real possibility. But is it actually happening? Well, a spokesperson for Green Day told MTV News that he was unaware of any news of Blink joining the bill, so we reached out directly to Blink bassist Mark Hoppus to get some sort of word. And, though he was pumped by the prospects of returning to the road with Billie Joe and Co., at the moment, there are no plans for the two bands to join forces.

“At this time there is no truth to that rumor,” Hoppus wrote. “However, that tour was one of the best times we’ve had on the road. Good idea! Let’s make it happen. Pop Disaster 2.0! Somebody call somebody else and tell me when to be ready for the first show.”

So it seems like the ball is very much in Green Day‘s court. Let’s make this happen, dudes.

Rihanna Unveils Diamonds Tour Dates After Big VMA Night

Fans might have gotten a taste of what Rihanna is cooking up for her just-announced 2013 Diamonds World Tour during Thursday’s 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. The cropped-topped singer opened the show with an eye-catching performance of her A$AP Rocky remix of “Cockiness (Love It)” and “We Found Love.”

The tour is set to kick off in March in Buffalo, New York, before making its way around North America with stops in Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, according to a press release. This North American leg of the tour will wrap up in May at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, which should make her mentor Jay-Z happy. He’s the director of Brooklyn Arena LLC, the company that owns Barclays.

Additional dates are expected to be added. Fans can pick up tickets early for this group of shows during the pre-sale, which begins September 14. Rihanna has not yet announced who will be hitting the road with her next year.

The announcement of her tour comes hot on the heels of her big night at the VMAs. Her scorching performance followed the singer as she made her way from a throne, and strutted alongside A$AP, for the “Cockiness” portion of the performance to a full-on rave, as she danced alongside her fans with Calvin Harris in the DJ booth. Rihanna might have performed at the top of the show, but by the end of the night, she went home a winner, nabbing Video of the Year for her “We Found Love” clip.

MTV, thank you so much, but most importantly, my fans, thank you so much for voting,” she said during her acceptance speech. “My Navy, Rihanna Navy … it’s Navy or die. I love you guys. Thank you. This is awesome.”
