‘Dancing With The Stars’: Roshon Fegan And Melissa Gilbert Get The Boot

The “Dancing With the Stars” contestants were warned on Monday night that two couples would be sent packing on Tuesday, but that didn’t make the sting any less bitter.

Chris Brown was the night’s performer, and after he ran through a new song from his forthcoming album Turn Up the Music, the remaining celebrities got the bad news.

In the end, the first couple to get the boot was Disney star Roshon Fegan and his partner Chelsie Hightower. Fegan smiled through the announcement and said, “I am happy to add ballroom dancing to my super-duper dance moves.”

Fegan actually scored pretty well on Monday night, earning 29 out of 30 for his individual performance. The judges told him that watching him perform was like watching a young Mickey Rooney.

Fegan’s pleasant reaction to getting sent home was the exact opposite of that by the second celebrity to get the boot: actress Melissa Gilbert, whose dance partner was Maks Chmerkovskiy. She had to wipe tears away after her name was called. It was Gilbert’s 48th birthday, and the moment was emotional.

Gilbert landed at the bottom of the leaderboard on Monday’s telecast, with judges telling her that her footwork was spotty.

“I can’t even describe what a learning and growing experience this has been. It’s been a real blessing and a joy,” she said upon her departure. “Maks has been amazing. An incredible teacher. An incredible friend.”

DWTS” semi-finals begin next week, with the remaining four celebrities — Donald Driver, Katherine Jenkins, Maria Menounos and William Levy — in the running for the mirrorball trophy.

‘Dancing With The Stars’: Maria Menounos Scores Season’s First Perfect Score

It was classical night on ABC‘s hit dance-competition show, “Dancing With the Stars.”
The Monday night telecast challenged the celebrities to step up their games, and it paid off: The judges finally gave out their first perfect score of the season.

Similar to last week, after the individual dances, the couples split off into two teams — Team Paso and Team Tango — to get a second score.

The season’s first perfect score came when TV journalist Maria Menounos and her pro partner Derek Hough performed the paso doble and judges were in love with what she turned in. Carrie Ann Inaba joked “that dance sucked!” before chasing it with “You were so on fire!” Their score was 30/30 for a total of 57/60 including the bonus dance.

Here’s how the others fared:

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas
The opera singer took over the dance floor with her rumba. The judges thought her performance was elegant. Judge Bruno Tonioli said that Jenkins was the “embodiment of the power of beauty” and joked that her dance could have been raunchier. 27/30, for a total of 54/60 with the bonus dance.

Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd
The NFL player took on the Viennese waltz and the athlete scored big points with the live audience, judging by their hoots and hollering. Hard-to-please head judge Len Goodman said that the performance was terrific and praised Driver’s footwork. 27/30 for a total of 53/60.

William Levy and Cheryl Burke
The Latin heartthrob also danced the Viennese waltz. Judges thought this was one of his best nights ever. Inaba shrieked, saying, “That is true content! That is true dancing!” 27/30, for a total of 53/60.

Roshon Fegan and Chelsea Hightower
The Disney star danced the Argentine tango (and to a classical spin on Lady Gaga’s hit “Bad Romance” at that!) and the judges thought the performance came off a bit wobbly. Goodman told him that he “looked a little bit awkward,” but added that it was “clean and competent.” 25/30, for a total of 52/60.

Jaleel White and Kym Johnson
The former child star danced the Viennese waltz, and judges weren’t too impressed with what he brought to the ballroom. Goodman said his footwork wasn’t up to par but that he did enjoy the “fairy” feel to his routine. But that was about it. 24/30 for a total of 51/60.

Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy
Both partners were plagued by injuries — Chmerkovskiy had a cyst in his foot — but he stepped it up as best he could for their Argentine tango. In spite of working through the pain, judges really weren’t all that impressed. Goodman said that their routine wasn’t clean, and Inaba said that the dance was “Cirque du Soleil gone terribly wrong.” Ouch. 21/30, for a total of 47/60.

‘Dancing With The Stars’: Katherine Jenkins Hits High Note Again

Monday night’s telecast of “Dancing With the Stars” opened with RB legend Smokey Robinson crooning his Motown hit “Tears of a Clown.” Then Martha Reeves came in singing her hit with the Vandellas “Dancing in the Streets.” Then came the (current lineup of the) Temptations singing their classic hit “Get Ready.” And Motown founder Berry Gordy was in the audience, to boot.

It was the perfect way to intro Motown night — this week’s theme — for the popular ABC dance reality competition.

This week’s scores included bonus points for a group cha-cha dance marathon.

At the top of the pack this week were Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas. The opera singer once again impressed judges with her moves. She and Ballas danced to the Temptations’ “I Can’t Get Next to You,” and the judges thought she continued to deliver. Her prize? She earned a pair of 10s in her initial score for an almost perfect score. “Tonight, girlfriend, you let it loose. That was amazing!” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said. 29/30 + 10 = 39.

Here’s how the others fared:

Jaleel White and Kym Johnson
The former child actor jumped right back near the top of the leaderboard. He danced the cha-cha to “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” and the judges found his movements to be sharp and filled with attitude “You’re back!” head judge Len Goodman told him. He also was rewarded with a pair of 10s from the judges. 29/30 + 8 = 37

William Levy and Cheryl Burke
The Latin soap opera star danced the rumba, and judges loved the steam that came from the pair. Their ending was over-the-top sexual (they were laid out on top of one another on the dance floor), and the judges — and the live audience, gauging from the screams and hooting and hollering — enjoyed it thoroughly. “William! Absolute and utter filth. And I loved every minute of it!” judge Bruno Tonioli said. “On behalf of all of the women out there, I thank you,” Inaba said. Goodman thought it was a bit on the raunchy side. 27/30 + 9 = 36

Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd
The football star danced the foxtrot to a Temptations track, and the judges were impressed by his showmanship. “Donald, you are a showman! Confidence! Power! Your performances get better and better. You should be in the theater,” Tonioli said. 27/30 + 7 = 34

Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy
The actress danced the Viennese waltz to Robinson’s lush hit “Ooo Baby, Baby,” and judges thought her lines were beautiful. “I see poetry starting to happen in your movements. I see the artistry there,” Inaba told her. 24/30 + 6= 30.

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough
The TV journalist danced the foxtrot to a Reeves’ hit, and even though she made a few missteps, judges thought she pulled it off quite nicely. “You lost your footing, but you caught up quite brilliantly,” Tonioli told her. 26/30 + 4 = 30.

Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower
The Disney star danced to a Robinson hit, and the judges thought his moves were more suitable for a hip-hop dance — his specialty — than the ballroom. Goodman said that the execution of his routine was “clipped and jerky.” “In general, I thought your moments were a bit over-exaggerated tonight and it made it hard for me to watch,” Inaba said. 23/50 + 5= 28.

Gladys Knight and Tristan McManus
The soul legend took the stage first — kind of fitting, considering she recorded with the Detroit label — and she performed the rumba. Judges thought her routine was passionate and said her star quality was undeniable. They thought her rumba should have been a bit steamier and noted how she lost it a bit at the end. “You’re not the best dancer, but I’ll tell you what you are … Gladys, you are the most charismatic dancer, I’m telling you. It is so appealing,” head judge Len Goodman said. “It’s just easy like Sunday morning!” 21/30 + 3 = 24.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Latin Night Belongs To William Levy

With Monday as Latin night on ABC’s reality hit show “Dancing With the Stars,” it should have been Latin soap star William Levy’s week, right? It was.

As the actor and his pro partner is Cheryl Burke took on the Argentine tango, Levy played every bit the part of a Latin lover with dance skills, wearing an unbuttoned tuxedo shirt. The judges thought he hit all the right marks — and with a twisted ankle to boot. Carrie Ann Inaba said the actor looked like a “Latin-dancing James Bond.” 29/30

Here’s how everyone else fared:

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas
Tying Levy at the top was opera singer Jenkins, who also danced the Argentine tango. The judges thought she was perfection and gave her one point shy of a perfect score for her efforts. Head judge Len Goodman said, “This, for me, was like a rose: It had beauty … but underneath was sharp.” 29/30

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough
The TV journalist salsa’d her way to a great performance. The judges told her their dance was passionate, hot and had just the right amount of spice. The pair’s routine ended with a hot kiss on the lips. “I don’t think you needed the kiss! The salsa is all about the illusion of passion. Don’t go at it right in front of us,” Inaba said. 27/30

Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd
The NFL hot shot danced the Argentine tango, and the judges praised him for his control and execution. Judge Bruno Tonioli said he did a “fantastic job.” 27/30

Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower
The Disney star pulled off a routine that wasn’t exactly G-rated. But he kept it clean. Goodman told him he moved like “a young guy with his first car.” Inaba joked that he was “sexy in a Disney way.” 26/30

Jaleel White and Kym Johnson
The childhood TV star danced the samba and bared a pretty impressive six-pack in the process. The judges were impressed by his moves, with Goodman telling him, “Your bum was going like you were chewing toffee.” 24/30

Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus
The soul legend shook her stuff to the samba, and even though the judges were lukewarm on it, they still praised her. Tonioli told her she was magic, while Goodman said her moves were “simple, but effective.” 22/30

Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy
Gilbert did the salsa — a tough feat considering she was injured last week. In her rehearsal segments, she danced around in a neck brace and hard hat. The judges liked her stick-to-it-ness, and Inaba told her it was wonderful to see her gain confidence. Tonioli said she lacked an element of control. “I saw excellent parts and parts that weren’t so good,” Goodman said. 21/30

Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff
The pop singer rounded out the bottom. He said in his rehearsal segment that he hoped to continue relying on votes from his fans to keep him in the game. He danced the samba, and the judges weren’t too impressed with his moves. “I don’t know whether to laugh or cry,” Tonioli said before adding, “I actually enjoyed it.” The other judges said it was missing key elements. 19/30

‘Dancing With The Stars’: Sherri Shepherd To Tango No More

It was a rather tearful Tuesday night on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” when the latest dance duo was eliminated from the competition.

The last two couples left waiting to find out whose Monday night rock performance wasn’t rock star enough to continue on the show were Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy and Disney star Roshon Fegan and his professional partner Chelsie Hightower. Fegan’s landing in the bottom two was particularly shocking considering that he was among the highest scorers the night before. The judges loved his Viennese waltz and said it was like watching the climax of a Disney movie. Once Shepherd found out she and her professional partner landed in the bottom two, the tears began to flow.

On Monday, the judges told Shepherd that she had a few issues with her footwork and that she needed to be sharper. “It was good, but I think what was lacking was your normal exuberance,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba told her. She scored 21 points out of 30.
Ultimately, it was her name that was called and it took her a few beats to compose herself.

“I just want to say thank you for letting me live a dream that I’ve always had, and I want to say I got the most amazing partner in Val Chmerkovskiy,” she said tearfully. “And I want to say to every person out here that the thing that scares you the most, that makes you say, ‘I don’t know if I can do it; I’m scared,’ run towards it, because it’s so amazing on the other side.”

Her partner said that she was an incredible person and that “she fought for me and I’m just really, really, really sorry I didn’t do a good enough job for you.”

Next week’s competition will see the return of actress Melissa Gilbert following her hospitalization for a mild concussion after this week’s performance.
