One Direction, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift Lead Z100 Jingle Ball Lineup

With the holidays right around the corner, New York radio station Z100 is getting us into the spirit with the annual Jingle Ball concert. And this year, the lineup is more star-studded than ever.

On Friday (October 19), Z100 — with the help of boy band the Wanted — announced the lineup for the 2012 event, and it’s a pop-music extravaganza.

Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and One Direction are all leading the stellar lineup for the event that hits New York‘s Madison Square Garden on December 7.

The Wanted, who will also be hitting the Jingle Ball stage, were on hand to announce the lineup at the official kickoff party at the Aeropostale store in Times Square. “[We're] really excited and just really looking forward to getting there,” Siva Kaneswaran told Z100. “It’s our first time in the Garden.”

Following the interview, the British boy band treated hundreds of fans to a five-song set, including their hits “Chasing the Sun” and “Glad You Came” and latest single “I Found You.”

Of course, these aren’t the only acts that will be performing in front of the New York crowd. Swift and One Direction collaborator Ed Sheeran will take the stage, as well as fellow British singer/songwriter Olly Murs.

But wait, there’s more! Ne-Yo, B.o.B, Jason Mraz and Fun. round out the list of performers who will bring their biggest hits to one stage in December.

Tickets for the concert go on sale Monday for VIP members and Tuesday for the general public.

VMA Nominees The Wanted Announce New Single Out Friday

The Wanted had some big news on Wednesday (September 5), ahead of their appearance at tomorrow’s 2012 MTV Video Music Awards: They’ll have a brand-new single out the next day.

The guys took to their Twitter page to announce that their next single off their still-in-the-works album will be “I Found You,” dropping Friday. “So you may or may not have heard but it’s now coming officially from us….*drum roll* *pausing for dramatic effect* Our brand new single is titled ‘I Found You’ you’ll be able to hear it on radio stations everywhere from Friday morning!!!” they wrote.

While their fan club will get the early listen on Thursday, they are making sure to spread the word about Friday’s official release by telling their fans “Tell the world icon smile VMA Nominees The Wanted Announce New Single Out Friday #IFoundYou.” Little else is known about the track, though the song title had been rumored for several days after the guys were spotted on the set of the Chris Marrs Piliero-directed music video last week. Piliero has previously worked with Britney Spears, the Black Keys and Ke$ha, among others.

The guys of the Wanted are still hard at work on their next studio release, the follow-up to 2011′s Battleground, as well as their U.S. EP, which they dropped earlier this year. They are working on new music while in Los Angeles, where they will present at the VMAs and are up for a Moonman for Best New Artist thanks to the video for their breakthrough jam, “Glad You Came.”

When MTV News spoke to the guys ahead of the appearance at the VMAs, they teased what they just might end up wearing to the big show. Siva Kaneswaran shared, “I think we should just wear nothing. Like, win or lose, we should be totally naked.”

Bandmate Jay McGuiness seemed into the idea, adding, “Anything for a bit of press.”

To find out if the Wanted show up naked and become first-time VMA winners, tune in tomorrow for the MTV Video Music Awards. You can pre-game with the Jersey Shore special “Gym, Tan, Look Back” at 6 p.m. before the pre-show at 7 p.m. and the main show at 8.

The Wanted Might Show Up Naked To The VMAs

The Wanted already know how they might act should they take home a Moonman at the 2012 Video Music Awards on Thursday. In fact, if the boy band beats out competitors Fun., One Direction, Frank Ocean or Carly Rae Jepsen for Best New Artist, they may be too excited to even give a proper acceptance speech.

They showed MTV News just how enthusiastic they might get when we chatted with them ahead of Thursday’s big show, where they will also be on hand as presenters live from Los AngelesStaples Center. And when we asked them to practice their speech, they didn’t give much of a speech at all, instead throwing their arms in the air and jumped around.

Regardless of a win or a loss, Siva Kaneswaran knows what the guys should wear. “I think we should just wear nothing,” he said. “Like, win or lose, we should be totally naked.”

Bandmate Jay McGuiness seemed on board with the idea, adding, “Anything for a bit of press.”

The Wanted aren’t the only boy band hoping for VMA glory. New Artist nominees One Direction are also up for Best Pop Video for “What Makes You Beautiful” as well as Most Share-Worthy Video.

To find out if the Wanted show up naked and become first-time VMA winners for their beach party-themed video for “Glad You Came,” catch the 2012 Video Music Awards Thursday, September 6.

The Wanted Cool Down ‘Chasing The Sun’ For ‘Ice Age’ Video

The Wanted chilled with vampires in their first “Chasing the Sun” video, but when it came time to film a second clip for the track, things got even chillier. In the new version, for the “Ice Age: Continental Drift” soundtrack, the guys perform on some icebergs while footage from the film plays.

MTV News was on set with the British boy banders when they shot the clip, and despite the song’s more mature party theme, the idea of “Chasing the Sun” can easily be adapted into a family-friendly anthem about chasing something other than tequila shots.

“I think this song, it can mean many things,” Jay McGuiness explained while shooting the clip. “To some people, it is partying all night and chasing the sun the next morning. That’s what that [first] video’s about; the girls, the teeth are there, the vampires. So we’re all there partying away. And that’s one aspect of the song. Another aspect of the song is chasing your dreams, the unattainable acorn in the distance.”

The fourth film in the “Ice Age” franchise will hit theaters July 13, and several pop stars are in the cast, including Nicki Minaj, Drake and Jennifer Lopez has a part. This time around, the film’s leading men, Manny (Ray Romano), Diego (Denis Leary) and Sid (John Leguizamo), go off on a new adventure where they meet up with pirates while exploring a new land.

“I’m the biggest fan [of these films],” Siva Kaneswaran said. “My dreams have come true by being in this video.”

Nathan Sykes added: “I’d actually like to argue with you and say I’m a bigger fan than you.”

McGuiness attempted to settle any band beef over by casting the entire group in the next franchise, if there should be one. “I think animated movies, in general, are great, and ‘Ice Age’ is like the crème de la crème of that,” he said. “If ‘Ice Age 5′ happens, I’m gonna volunteer. We’ll be like a strange troop of dodos. I don’t know, what’s left? They’ve covered all the great creatures. If you think of any more, we’ll be there. Some British ones — why not?”

Will "Hunger Games" Or "Bridesmaids" Rule Movie Awards?

While we all know where Justin Bieber stands on the issue of “Bridesmaids” versus “Hunger Games” (hint: He prefers laughing to crying), we felt it was important to do our due diligence and reach out to other celebrities to see which of the two most-nominated films might take home more prizes at Sunday’s 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

Kendall Schmidt and Carlos Pena from Big Time Rush also went for “Bridesmaids” as the night’s big winner, with Pena telling MTV News he thinks he’s “in love” with Kristen Wiig — “a little bit.”

Siva Kaneswaran from the Wanted was banking on “The Hunger Games,” and bandmate Jay McGuiness had a very good reason. “Me and Max [George] Googled Jennifer Lawrence. We were very happy with the results,” he laughed.

Deena Cortese from “Jersey Shore” also seemed pretty sure that Jennifer Lawrence‘s dystopian flick will beat Kristen Wiig‘s female-driven comedy about the perils of weddings: “I think “Hunger Games” might take it.”

The films will not only face off in the Movie of the Year category, but also in Best Female Performance, Best Cast and Breakthrough Performance.

To find out which movie will take home more Golden Popcorn, check out the 2012 MTV Movie Awards this Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The show will be hosted by Russell Brand and feature performances from Fun., the Black Keys, Martin Solveig and Wiz Khalifa. It all goes down live at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, this Sunday.

The Wanted Tease ‘Daring’ Surprises On Next Album

The Wanted may be “Chasing the Sun” on the charts with their recently released U.S. debut EP, but the British boy banders aren’t taking any breaks. Hot on the heels of the release, they are back in the studio, hard at work on their next proper release, a follow-up to 2011′s Battleground.

“Well, you know, it’s going to be a new leaf for us because we’ve compiled all our three years of stuff into the EP, so now it’s a new, fresh start for us,” Jay McGuiness explained to MTV News. “The singles we started writing and recording, so far, we’re excited about. But it’s still gonna be parties for the Wanted. I think it’s gonna be a few surprises too.”

Those surprises could come in the form of some cameos on the in-the-works record. Siva Kaneswaran added, “[It] could be collabs or it could be rapping. There’s not gonna be any rapping; I’m just kidding. But it is surprising for ourselves, too, because we are just going to try and be daring and try and step it up a bit, so hopefully the fans will like it.”

While rapping won’t make the final cut, the guys have teased that they’d love to get Justin Bieber or Chris Brown on board for the album. “We talked about it, and we have a song that we think he’d sound great on,” McGuiness teased about working with Bieber.

“We’ve talked to Chris Brown as well, which would be really good,” Kaneswaran revealed. “We talked to Chris actually at ‘The Voice,’ and he said he was down as well.”

“We have got a song we think would be perfect,” Max George added.

The bottom line is, the guys said, is they want to make good music that defies their boy-band label. “We went out there and we’re like, ‘You know what? I think we can change people’s perspectives of the ’90s boy bands,’ ” Parker explained. “And that was our aim: just to make good music.”

The Wanted Move On From Christina And Take Aim At Britney Spears

If you’re having trouble keeping the latest wave of British boy bands straight, just remember this one simple trick: The Wanted are the ones who talk tons of smack.

After tearing into “The Voice” coach
Christina Aguilera by calling her a “total bitch” last week, and then kind of apologizing
, the boys turned their verbal cannons on another ex-Mouseketeer.

Sitting down for another radio interview in New York on Monday (their people should really consider keeping the boys off N.Y. radio, just sayin’), the lads opened up about a rather unpleasant interaction with Britney Spears‘ security team in November.

They said they were personally invited to open Brit’s show in Manchester and by all accounts the hook-up went swimmingly, with a cute photo op and a follow-up tweet from Spears in which she wrote, “So the boys from @thewantedmusic came to my Wembley show we hung out backstage! Love them!”

But member Tom Parker revealed that, “We signed a confidentiality thing that we should never say anything about what happened, but let’s tell it anyway.” That prompted Siva Kaneswaran to open up the legal Pandora’s box and spill, “I was in the hallway with me tour manager. Basically we were looking with a laptop, trying to get WiFi … facing the middle of the hallway. [Britney's] bouncers came down with her and told us to face the wall.”

“As Miss Spears is walking through,” added Parker. “We’re like come on!” But, since they are nice boys, Kaneswaran said, “We turned around and I faced a wall for about 10 seconds until she got really far away.”

They didn’t wait long to walk this one back a bit, though. Jay McGuiness quickly followed-up with another patented Wanted semi-apology, explaining, “But honestly when we actually met her person to person, she was so down to earth. You can tell she’s a total Southern girl and Nathan [Sykes], when he was a kid, won a singing competition. She was one of the judges or something. And she gave him a kiss, it was one of his first kisses as a kid. So he got to meet her again and support her.”

Last week, when MTV News’ Sway spoke to the boys they were in a similarly feisty mood, with Parker claiming that Justin Bieber had smacked Kaneswaran in his crown jewels when they performed with “Boyfriend” singer. “He [Kaneswaran] came up to me in the dressing room and said, ‘Why’s he picking on me?’” Parker joked.

As for Spears, at the time, Sykes said, “She’s lovely as well. We haven’t really met people who aren’t very nice and Britney was just very, very nice. She was kind of what you’d expect her to be, very happy and American.” And, Parker said, even though her bodyguards were kind of scary, Britney, he said, had “lovely teeth.”

The Wanted Apologize To Christina Aguilera, Sort Of

Sometimes, sorry is the hardest word to say. That’s the tough new celebrity lesson learned by The Wanted member Tom Parker, who got hit pretty hard by Christina Aguilera‘s fans last week after he went on a New York radio station and tore into
“The Voice” coach Christina Aguilera, calling her a “total bitch.”

After dropping the b-bomb several more times and claiming that the singer-turned-reality competition judge refused to look at or speak to the British lad band, fellow member Siva Kaneswaran added, “she was quite rude.”

Well, Xtina’s fans were not impressed and started flaming the group, and two days after dissing her, Parker walked the comments back a bit, according to TMZ. Caught by the gossip site’s cameras outside Hollywood’s Mondrian hotel on Sunday, Parker said, “We shouldn’t have said it, to be honest with you. We just think manners cost nothing, you know what I mean? The rest of the judges were really nice, and she didn’t even walk over to us and talk to us. We apologize for the comment.”

Told that the original dis was all over Google when The Wanted’s name was searched, Parker shook his head and lamented, “I know!”
During the original radio appearance, The Wanted were also asked to compare their interactions with Aguilera on “The Voice” with an earlier meeting with “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez, when Max George planted a kiss on J.Lo and then the boys openly pined for her hand in marriage backstage. And, as you can probably expect, they definitely preferred one experience to the other.
“[Aguilera] was a bit scary, to be honest,” George said. Then, when asked about smooching Lopez, he laughed: “Yeah, well J.Lo’s hot, Christina’s nothing special.”

The Wanted Take Shots At ‘Scary’ Christina Aguilera

Any diehard fan of the Wanted can surely list innumerable reasons why the rippling, randy group is totally different from any of their Boy Band predecessors — they are British-Irish, they sing about booze, etc — but here’s one we’ve just become aware of: They are totally unafraid of speaking their mind.

That’s because, in an interview with New York radio station Now FM, they went off on “The Voice” chair-sitter Christina Aguilera after she gave them a less-than-friendly reception during their appearance on the show last week. And we mean they really went off.

“She’s a total bitch,” Tom Parker spat. “She might not be a bitch in real life, but to us, she was a total bitch. She just sat there and didn’t speak to us. Wouldn’t even look at us.”

“She was quite rude,” Siva Kaneswaran added. “Who does that?”

The Wanted were also asked to compare their interactions with Aguilera on “The Voice” with an earlier meeting with “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez, when Max George planted a kiss on J.Lo and then the boys openly pined for her hand in marriage backstage. And, as you can probably expect, they definitely preferred one experience to the other.

“[Aguilera] was a bit scary, to be honest,” George said.

Then, when asked about smooching Lopez, he laughed: “Yeah, well J.Lo’s hot, Christina’s nothing special.”

Snaps all around. It bears mention that perhaps Aguilera was just having a bad night, because following the show, she also caught heat for . At press time, reps for the Wanted (and Aguilera) had yet to respond to MTV News’ request for comment on the burgeoning beef, but we suspect we’re going to be hearing plenty more from both camps in the days ahead.

The Wanted Have ‘Perfect’ Songs For Justin Bieber, Chris Brown

With the Wanted already poised to become internationally acclaimed superstars, it makes sense that they would consider pooling their popularity to make music with some equally potent musical forces, like, say, Justin Bieber and Chris Brown.

When the band stopped by Tuesday for “MTV First: The Wanted,” Sway brought up the band’s onetime tourmate and asked the boys what they thought of the “Boyfriend” singer.

“He was really nice. A really, really nice guy,” Tom Parker said with sincerity, adding that the band and Bieber became so friendly during their joint tour that the Biebs started joking around and ended up playfully smacking bandmate Siva Kaneswaran in a rather — ahem — uncomfortable place.

The natural follow-up to that question was whether the fivesome would consider collaborating with Bieber or if they’d discussed music during the tour. The guys all agreed that a collaboration would be fun and even admitted to having a song in mind for them to work on.

“We talked about it, and we have a song that we think he’d sound great on,” Jay McGuiness teased.

“We’ve talked to Chris Brown as well, which would be really good,” Kaneswaran revealed. “We talked to Chris actually at ‘The Voice,’ and he said he was down as well.”

“It’s all up for discussion,” Parker added, as the rest of the guys chimed in: “You never know.”

“We have got a song we think would be perfect,” Max George said of Brown.

Fingers crossed we can get those guys all in a studio together to crank out their next chart-topper!
