Wiz Khalifa Blesses Juelz Santana With God Willin’ Feature

If Wiz Khalifa had his way, he and Juelz Santana would’ve collaborated on his critically acclaimed Taylor Allderdice mixtape on “Never Been Part II” with Rick Ross and Amber Rose. Unfortunately for the Taylor Gang captain, Elz chose the club over the studio on their scheduled night of recording, but no worries — the two rappers have something else in the works.

“Juelz was definitely supposed to be on Taylor Allderdrice,” Wiz revealed in a pre-taped video that we surprised Juelz with on Wednesday’s episode of “RapFix Live.”

“I can never get mad at Juelz because he’s Dipset, he gets a pass,” Khalifa added with a laugh.

Santana admitted to flaking out on the session but explained that he wasn’t in a creative space then and he just wasn’t feeling it. But now, the “Mic Check” MC is back to work and plans to release his God Willin’ mixtape at the very top of 2013. “I got a crazy record with Wiz Khalifa on my mixtape. We just shot the video in Miami,” he said. “Ahh man, it’s super dope.”

Originally the Dipset word wizard had titled his tape The Reagan Era as an ode to the 1980s when he grew up, but he has since changed his mind. “I switched the name too, you know it was called Reagan Era, I feel like the Reagan Era just got outdated,” he reasoned before citing that Kendrick Lamar already used the title “Ronald Reagan Era” for a song on his 2010 indie album Section.80. “I just wanted to switch it up. God Willin’ just felt good.”

Though he has appeared as a guest on records for Lloyd Banks and Kirko Bangz in recent years, it has been seven years since Elz dropped his last official LP What the Game’s Been Missing! His next album Born to Lose, Built to Win will be executive produced by Lil Wayne and is scheduled to come out some time next year, but before that, Santana looks to lay some solid foundation in the mixtape scene.

For God Willin’ Juelz has already lined up features with Meek Mill, Fabolous, Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, Jadakiss, Lloyd Banks and of course Wiz. “God Willin’ mixtape is ready to go,” he promised.

Wiz Khalifa Throws O.N.I.F.C. Party At NYC Strip Club

Ain’t no party like a Taylor Gang party. On Monday night, Wiz Khalifa and his TGOD crew proved it when they hit New York City to unveil the Pixburgh star’s upcoming O.N.I.F.C. LP for selected media and industry players before it hits stores on December 4.

Khalifa wasted no time. In fact, the Kush and Orange Juice MC and his Gang where already well-situated at a table with bottles of gin and tons of smoke as the crowd filed into the Westway strip club shortly after 7 p.m. “I’ve been hearing people are excited about this project, I’m super-excited about it,” Khalifa told the crowd before he cued DJ Bonics to drop O.N.I.F.C.‘s mellowed-out intro track.

To mark the occasion, three bikini-clad ladies took the stage painted as a zebra, a tiger and a cheetah grinding to the new tunes. There was “Bluffin’” featuring one of TG‘s newest additions, Berner, and “The Plan” with Juicy J. Chevy Woods shows up on the weed-inspired “Medicated” and Akon lends his vocals to the pounding “Let It Go.”

The crowd cheered in approval of the 17-track album, which sonically resembled Wiz’s Kush and Orange Juice and Taylor Allderdice mixtapes and though Khalifa and company filed out around 10 p.m. the TG Captain’s night didn’t end there.

To further build excitement for his sophomore set, he released the music video for “The Bluff” featuring Cam’ron. In the laid-back clip, Wiz takes a trip to Cam’s native Harlem and together they traded bars on the stoop about their champagne lifestyles and bubbling bank accounts. “I’m Killa, he’s Wiz but all our checks say Cameron,” the Dipset OG spits reminding listeners that despite their respective rap monikers he and Khalifa share the same birth name.

By the end of the video, the “Black and Yellow” MC is seated at a table with his feet up, shooting crumbled-up hundred-dollar bills into a waste paper basket. Judging from the sound of O.N.I.F.C., after December 4, Wiz Khalifa will have a little more money to throw around.

Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, Young Jeezy Hit Stage At 2012 Hip Hop Awards

By Rob Markman

Wiz Khalifa is a definite party animal, so why wouldn’t BET choose the Taylor Gang captain to set off their 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards show on Tuesday (October 9) night. And the Rolling Papers MC did not disappoint.

Cap stormed the stage to the beat of his O.N.I.F.C. single “Work Hard, Play Hard” in his usual rock-star fashion wearing a black leather jacket, black shades and a black fedora. The electric performer bounced back and forth onstage, doing his carefree Khalifa dance, kicking his legs and swinging his arms wildly above his head, while multicolored lights flashed behind him.

The already-enthralled crowd at the Atlanta Civic Center turned things up a notch when hometown hero Young Jeezy marched out onstage to rock his “Work Hard” remix verse. “Every night it’s champagne, n—a/ Key to life, maintain, n—a/ Nothin’ changed but the chain, n—a/ What weigh a ki? My chain, n—a,” the Snowman spit with his unmistakable Southern gruff.

Lil Wayne, who appears on the remix as well, wasn’t in attendance, so Three 6 Mafia veteran and Taylor Gang MC Juicy J gladly took his place with a verse of his own.

MTV News caught up with Wiz moments before his big performance on the BET red carpet, and while he was excited about the awards show and his Mixtape of the Year nomination for Taylor Allderdice, Pittsburgh’s shining star was also grinning ear-to-ear talking about his very pregnant bride-to-be Amber Rose and the couple’s baby on the way. Though he and Rose know the sex of the little bambino, Wiz refused to dish. “I do know, but then [Amber] told us not to say yet. We’ll wait until she’s ready,” he said, making sure to stick with the plan.

Wiz Khalifa Opens 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards With Young Jeezy, Juicy J

Nobody sets a party off quite like Wiz Khalifa, so it’s only right that BET got the Taylor Gang captain to open up the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards, which aired Tuesday night (October 9).

Wiz Khalifa And Atlantic Butt Heads Over O.N.I.F.C Album

Wiz Khalifa And Atlantic Butt Heads Over O.N.I.F.C Album

By Rob Markman

Wiz Khalifa is getting ready to drop his anticipated O.N.I.F.C. album, but the Pittsburgh rapper still has some issues to sort out with his label.

Much has been made about Wiz Khalifa‘s duality. For most of his career, the Taylor Gang captain has been able to exist in two worlds: the free-wheeling, smoke-filled underground where he reigns as king and theBillboard charts which he has frequently been known to climb. It seems that for his upcoming sophomore LP O.N.I.F.C.his major label home Atlantic Records wants more of the latter and a little less of the former.

“Atlantic likes O.N.I.F.C., but they want more obvious singles because that’s what sells it for them,” Khalifa told Complex Magazine in the cover story for their October/November cover story.” My belief in the record is what sells it to me. It’s not a conflict. You just have to communicate so everybody understands it.”

Wiz won over his fans with a celebration collection of free Internet-based mixtapes like 2009′s Flight School and the modern-day classic Kush and Orange Juice. When it was time to release his major label debut Rolling Papers last year many charged that Khalifa had pulled a switch-a-roo, changing his beloved stoner sound for more pop-friendly hits like the #1 single “Black Yellow” and the Benny Blanco-produced “No Sleep.” It was a charge that Wiz addressed in an open letter to his fans in back February admitting that while RP was successful, it wasn’t his best work.

In March, Khalifa tapped back into his underground aesthetic and dropped his latest fan-favorite Taylor Allderdice, but now that the release date for his sophomore set is looming, it seems that he and Atlantic aren’t quite seeing eye-to-eye. Wiz just isn’t ready to compromise this time.

“When you’re working with other people, you figure out how much you do for them and how much you do for yourself,” he told the magazine. “You can’t just be an artist fighting for your opinion and that’s it. The label has to understand artists. I wanted to make Rolling Papers when I madeRolling Papers, now it’s time for O.N.I.F.C. Now we’re going to do it exactly how I want to do it to see how that works. It can’t be one-sided.”

What are you expecting from Wiz Khalifa’s O.N.I.F.C. LP?

Wiz Khalifa Wants Atlantic To See His O.N.I.F.C. Vision

Chris Brown Debuts High-Grade ‘Till I Die’ Video

The 9-to-5 grind can be a real drag, even for superstars like Chris Brown. To take the edge off, Breezy dons a suit and tie and throws a good old fashioned smoke party with Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean for his “Till I Die” video, which he released online Wednesday night.

Brown’s self-directed clip starts in a run-of-the-mill office with maze-like cubicles, boring brown corkboards and a nasty old water cooler. It’s all pretty mundane, that is until a rapping Chris pops out of nowhere, tripping the mail guy and encouraging a Sarah Palin look-alike to photo-copy her bare bottom. “A n—a gonna be faded all the way ’til the a.m.,” Brown promises as his shift ends and he takes the elevator from the 420th floor to the building’s lobby with fellow stoners Wiz and Sean.

The good times continue to roll when Snoop Dogg, along with a few lucky ladies, comes to pick up his homeys in a yellow, old-school convertible. “More drink, pour it up/ More weed, roll it up,” Sean raps while Brown harmonizes “I’m high” in the background as they ride through the streets of L.A.

The happy rappers eventually reach their destination, a foggy frat house with thick, billowing smoke, tons of snacks and fellow marijuana enthusiasts Method Man and Redman, who present Wiz with a golden bong.

“Till I Die” was actually Khalifa’s second weed-inspired video of the day. Earlier Wednesday, the Pittsburgh spitter dropped a clip for “The Grinder,” a jazzy smoke tune from his Taylor Allderdice mixtape. Fans can catch Khalifa performing during Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards at 9 p.m. ET, introduced by none other than Charlie Sheen.

For Brown, “Till I Die” is a far cry all of the other videos he’s released from his upcoming Fortune album. “Turn Up the Music,” which has amassed almost 40 million views on YouTube, is a heavy dance number, while “Strip” finds Chris in the middle of a sexy house party. The Virginia singer’s sultry love-making ode “Sweet Love” comes with a video to match, but “Till I Die” is a fun and welcomed departure from it all. Not that we condone that sort of thing.

What do you think of Chris Brown’s “Till I Die” video? Tell us in the comments.

Wiz Khalifa Brushed Off SpaceGhostPurrp Beef For ‘T.A.P.’ Collaboration

By Rob Markman

The beat on ”T.A.P.,”  from Wiz Khalifa‘s Taylor Allderdice mixtape was courtesy of A$AP Rocky producer SpaceGhostPurrp, but fans may not know that Purrp was once a Taylor Gang detractor. Luckily, the two artists were able to sidestep any issues to collaborate on a great track.

For those unfamiliar with Purrp’s catalog, in 2011 he released a song called“F— Taylor Gang,” on which he rapped, “This ain’t no Wiz, so f— a Khalifa.” The song didn’t hit Wiz’s radar at first, but the Purrp-produced A$AP Rocky track “Pretty Flacko” did. “I love that beat. I’m like, ‘Man, that beat is hard as hell,’ ” Wiz said when he appeared on last week’s “RapFix Live.”

After hearing “Pretty Flacko,” which dropped on New Year’s Day, the Taylor Gang captain immediately took to Twitter to express his appreciation for SpaceGhost’s work. Shortly after, the emerging producer hit Wiz back suggesting that they record a song together, and of course Khalifa agreed. “Then somebody was like, ‘You know he put out a song about you,’ ” Wiz recalled of how he first learned about “F— Taylor Gang.”

“I checked the song out and when I listened to it I kinda figured out what it was,” Wiz explained, not taking offense at Purrp’s lyrics. “Just being young people and being competitive, going for a spot, you don’t always know that it’s cool to let somebody know that you’re a fan of theirs, and that’s why I always try to reach back to people who are in their early stages and let ‘em know I listen to your music and I like your music.”

After hearing the track, the “Black and Yellow” MC cleared the air with SGP. “After that he sent me that crazy beat, and me and Juicy went in,” Wiz said of how “T.A.P.” came about.

Odd Future‘s Domo Genesis found himself in a similar situation when he and Wiz collaborated on their “Ground Up” single in February. Domo, who released his debut album, Rolling Papers, online for free in 2010 took exception when Khalifa announced that he’d be releasing an LP with the same name a few months later. There was some back and forth on Twitter, but eventually Wiz and the OF spitter were able to work it out when they randomly met in a Santa Monica, California, studio.

“I knew he was gonna bring up the Rolling Papers thing, and it came up. It was cool — it happened a long time ago,” Domo said when he and the rest of Odd Future appeared on “RapFix Live” in March.

Wiz Khalifa Explains How ‘T.A.P.’ Collabo Survived A Dis Track

If Wiz Khalifa had let a little dis song get to him, his fans would have missed out on some pretty cool music. In fact, “T.A.P.” — one of Khalifa’s favorite songs off of his latest Taylor Allderdice mixtape — was produced by A$AP Rocky producer SpaceGhostPurrp, a onetime Taylor Gang detractor.

Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller & Casey Veggies On ‘RapFix Live’

Pittsburgh is having a party on Wednesday’s episode of “RapFix Live.” Mac Miller isn’t the only PA rapper making his return to the red couch tomorrow, as Wiz Khalifa will also join Sway Calloway to talk about his latest projects. It’s perfect timing too. On Monday, Khalifa released “Work Hard, Play Hard,” the first single from his sophomore album O.N.I.F.C. (Only N—a in First Class).

The catchy track, which was crafted by Stargate and Benny Blanco, finds Young Khalifa flaunting his success in the face of less fortunate haters.

Wiz is coming off the heels of his critically acclaimed Taylor Allderdice mixtape. He’s prepping O.N.I.F.C. for an August 28 release, and if that wasn’t enough, Mr. Khalifa and fiancée Amber Rose are planning a wedding. (It was during a March 2011 episode of “RapFix Live” where the lovebirds gave their first interview.) The Taylor Gang captain is also about to hit the road with Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q and Chevy Woods on the Under the Influence of Music tour, so there is plenty to talk about.

“It means everything, Mac’s my little homey. It’s good for his fans; it’s good for everybody who’ve been wanting to see us do what we do together,” Wiz told MTV News about the tour, which kicks off July 26 in Cincinnati, Ohio. “Chevy’s my guy. I grew up with him so I know he’s gonna bring a lot of crazy energy. Kendrick and Schoolboy got a bunch of fans on their own and people that they’re gonna entertain as well, so I think it’s just gonna bring a lot of different worlds together as well as create some new energy that hasn’t been done before.”

That’s not all “RapFix Live” has to offer, as California spitter Casey Veggies will also be coming through. Trust us, you don’t want to miss this!

Catch Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller and Casey Veggies on “RapFix Live” Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com, and be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RapFixLive. Send your questions for the artists @MTVRapFix!
