T.I. Says Chief Keef Gives A Voice To ‘Youth In America’

Chief Keef has had a hell of a weekend. Not only did the 16-year-old Chicago MC sign a record deal with Interscope, he also got a chance to perform at Birthday Bash in front of 20,000 ATL rap fans. Keef was one of T.I.‘s many special guests, which included Usher, Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy.

Backstage, Tip gave the youngster the ultimate co-sign. “Chief Keef, I feel like he represents a part of America,” T.I. told MTV News. “He represents a part of the youth in America that ain’t really got a voice right now. We looking at ‘em, and we’re seeing the results of their actions, but we ain’t really listening to ‘em, and I think you gotta have a representative of each generation in order to understand what they dealing with.”

Because of his power in the rap game, Tip feels it’s his responsibility to try to understand and help young rappers. Keef garnered a ton of attention thanks to underground standout tracks “I Don’t Like” and “3 Hunna.” The former is a gritty street track that denounces snitching and fake True Religion jeans. The song’s video has already amassed more than 6 million views on YouTube and caught the attention of Kanye West, who, along with Keef, Pusha T, Big Sean and Jadakiss, remixed the track.

A number of industry executives have expressed interest in signing the young rapper. Birdman was vocal about courting the young spitter, but it was Interscope that presented the best offer. “They was talking good to me,” he told RapFix. “They was talking like I was talking, and I liked that. All these other labels, I was talking to ‘em, but it’s time anyway for me, and I’m going with Interscope.”

T.I. said there was an opportunity for Keef to join his Grand Hustle family, but he respects the young rapper’s decision. Tip is just happy that the go-getter was able to make a way for himself. “The opportunity existed, but I never put my own personal wishes before the best interest of the next person,” T.I. said. “I’m just happy that he’s able to do whatever’s best for him and his family and to move forward as a person and to progress in life. As long as he’s doing that, I’m happy.”

2 Chainz Hints At Another Nicki Minaj Collaboration

By Rob Markman

Nicki Minaj and 2 Chainz displayed quite a bit of chemistry earlier this week when they released their collaborative track “Beez in the Trap” from Nicki’s upcoming Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded LP. The “Spend It” MC is well aware of the furor that the track caused. In addition to the positive fan reaction, it also started a DJ beef between Funk Master Flex and DJ Clue.

“Shout out to Young Money, shout out to Nicki Minaj, her album coming out April 3, we have a song on there together called ‘Beez in the Trap,’ I heard it got New York goin’ ham,” Deuce told RapFix in Atlanta while on set for his upcoming “Riot” video.“It definitely got the A goin’ ham, so that’s a good look.”

“Beez” finds the Harajuku Barbie once again taking aim at unnamed rap chicks. “Bitches ain’t sh– and they ain’t sayin’ nothin’,” she boasts on over a sparse drum track. Underground favorite 2 Chainz doesn’t compromise a thing spitting alongside the multiplatinum rapper. He drops a charismatic 16-bar verse where he goes on about his Lexus LS 450, True Religion jeans and his pimp ways.

The Roman Reloaded track may not be the last time we hear the two MCs in tandem. 2 Chainz hinted that Nicki may return the favor when he drops his debut solo album on Def Jam Records later this year. “Like I said be lookin’ out for my album Based on a T.R.U. Story, we might have a cut on there as well,” he said.
Are you looking forward to another 2 Chainz and Nicki Minaj collaboration?

Nicki Minaj Single Featuring 2 Chainz Starts NYC DJ War

By Rob Markman

Nicki Minaj’s latest single “Beez in the Trap” featuring Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz has set off beef between two of New York City’s biggest hip-hop DJs. The Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded track was set to premiere on Tuesday night and  Power 105′s DJ Clue and Hot 97′s DJ Funk Master Flex clashed over exclusive rights to debut the song.

Olivia Funkmaster Flex Hash Out Beef In Full Interview

It all started Tuesday morning when Nicki retweeted a DJ Drama message urging fans to tune into DJ Clue’s show later that evening to hear the world premiere of Minaj and 2 Chainz’s Roman Reloaded collaboration, “Beez in the Trap.” But Clue didn’t get a chance to drop the exclusive as it hit the Internet hours before his show went on air. Flex then took credit for playing spoiler by hacking into DJ Clue’s email and lifting the track.

Clue quickly hit Twitter to refute Flex’s account, ending his note with the hashtag #CompulsiveLiar.”

Whatever the order of events, Nicki’s “Beez in the Trap” single clearly came out on top. The ’80s-inspired track is a departure from “Right by My Side,”the RB duet that Minaj and Chris Brown released earlier on Tuesday. Instead, “Beez” finds the Harajuku Barbie once again taking aim at unnamed rap chicks.

Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj Team Up For ‘Right By My Side’

With the newly released Roman Reloaded tracks, Nicki seems to be striking a balance between melodic pop tracks (“Starships,” “Right By My Side”) and the rap fare that she came into the game with (“Stupid Hoe,” “Roman Reloaded”).

“April 3 is gonna be a doozy. It’s gonna be crazy,” Nicki promised when MTV News caught up with her at the NBA All-Star Game in February. “It’s gonna be important for just hip-hop culture and pop culture. It’s gonna be very big.”

Nicki Minaj’s ‘Beez in the Trap’ Sparks Drama Between Rival DJs

After two of New York City’s biggest rap radio DJs faced off on Tuesday night, there was clearly only one winner: Nicki Minaj. With Nicki’s April 3 release date for Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded inching closer, disc jocks are clamoring for exclusives from the YMCMB star, and Power 105′s DJ Clue and his rival, Hot 97 DJ Funk Master Flex, tussled over bragging rights to the Queens MC’s latest track.
