‘V/H/S/2′ Red Band Trailer: Aliens, SUVs, And Exploding Naked Men

Here’s a great way to start off your Thursday. The first NSFW trailer for “V/H/S/2,” the sequel to the found footage anthology that scared the crap out of us last year, just dropped over at Yahoo! Movies. What the preview emphasizes—aside from how freaking scary this thing looks—is the serious talent they’ve lined up to direct segments for the second go around.

For the sequel, you’ll see found footage short films from the directors of “The Raid: Redemption,” upcoming horror flick “You’re Next,” “Hobo With a Shotgun,” and “The Blair Witch Project.”

The consensus coming out of Sundance this year was that “V/H/S/2,” then called “S-V/H/S,” is much scarier than its predecessor and uses the found footage format to greater effect.

We’ll find out when “V/H/S/2″ hits VOD on June 6 and theaters on July 12.

‘Buffy”s Oz And Dawn Lock Lips In Excluisve ‘Sexy Evil Genius’ Clip

If you##Q##ve ever wanted to see Oz (the werewolf) and Dawn (the Key) from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” making out, then we##Q##ve got something extra special for you!

If you##Q##re like us, you find the whole idea kind of distasteful. Even though Seth Green and Michelle Trachtenberg##Q##s stints on “Buffy” did not overlap, Oz and Dawn snogging just seems… wrong.

But we believe in Seth and Michelle and fully support their endeavors (we especially lament the fact that we might not get to see Seth##Q##s “Star Wars: Detours” for a long, long time). So let##Q##s try to put the icky feelings aside and enjoy this exclusive clip from the crime thriller “Sexy Evil Genius.”

“Sexy Evil Genius,” which also stars Katee Sackhoff, William Baldwin and Harold Perrineau, will be available on DVD, VOD and digital download on April 9th.

‘Twilight’ Gets An Art-House Make Over In Horror Bites

Twilight Gets An Art House Make Over In Horror Bites

Xan Cassavetes — daughter of famed moviemaking couple director John Cassavetes and actress Gena Rowlands — seems to have been inspired by the sexy and twisted vampire films from the 1970s for her new movie “Kiss of the Damned.” The cool, contemporary take on bloodsucking fiends tells the story of one vamp falling in love with a human, but the relationship is threatened when the undead woman’s wild sister shows up.

The entire vampire community also becomes endangered thanks to the troublemaker’s pathological personality. The red band trailer that popped up on Yahoo! this week reveals a very retro, erotic vibe. Look for “Kiss of the Damned” on iTunes/On Demand March 28, or see it in theaters May 3. We vote you whet your appetite in the meantime by watching this NSFW trailer.

Returning to the “Horror”
Who doesn’t love a good possession tale? One of the most famous in horror film history is “The Amityville Horror” — based on a “true,” tell-all novel by Jay Anson. The 1979 film about the real-life experiences of the Lutz family, who purchased the creepy house with the ocular windows that had been the scene of a brutal murder, has terrified generations. After the Lutzes moved into what they thought was their dream home, paranormal occurrences drove them out — screaming. There’s a ton of controversy surrounding the “Amityville” story — mainly whether it’s true or all faked. That’s what director Eric Walter explores in his hair-raising documentary “My Amityville Horror.” Daniel Lutz was nine years old at the time of the paranormal weirdness, and he tells his side of the story in Walter’s film. Whether you believe “Amityville” happened or not, this trailer from Dread Central makes it clear that Daniel has been haunted by the bizarre events at 112 Ocean Avenue his entire life. You can see the film at a one-night only screening on March 16 (Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills, CA). The rest of us will get a chance to judge Daniel’s story for ourselves when the movie is available via VOD on March 15 (Sundance Now).

Blade Unchained?
Do you want to see Wesley Snipes tear the heads off zombie cowboys and try to relive those glory years from the “Blade” movies? Of course you do! Here’s the sales trailer for Andrew Goth and Joanne Ray’s “Gallowwalkers.” Mysterious gunman Aman (Snipes) is the son of a nun who goes against God to ensure her son’s survival. Unfortunately, the sin curses Aman so that whenever he takes a life, he’s haunted by his victim’s corpse. When Aman’s true love is murdered, he seeks revenge and wipes out an entire gang. They come back to life to hunt him down, and an epic battle between the living and the dead ensues. Is the violent revenge western too much like “Blade,” or can you dig it? (via ComingSoon)

Will Lindsay Lohan Ever Work Again?

Earlier this week, MTV News attempted to figure out a way for perpetually problem-plagued actress Lindsay Lohan to get her career back on track after the not-so-hot reviews of her Lifetime movie “Liz Dick,” but now, after yet another disappointing incident in which Lohan was arrested for punching a woman at a nightclub, her future — both professional and personal — looks bleaker than ever.

MTV News reached out to a new panel of industry experts with this question: Will Lindsay Lohan ever find work as an actress again?

“You keep hoping that she’s going to get her act together, so does everyone in Hollywood. They keep rooting for her, and she blows it every time,” lamented Access Hollywood‘s film critic Scott Mantz. “She’s got more breaks from people in Hollywood than anyone in her position deserves to get but she does not give the impression of someone who really wants to get her career back on track. She should not be going out. She should be sitting home reading scripts and get her career back on track. She is not doing that.”

Another problem, aside from whatever legal fallout and potential jail time occurs given this latest arrest, is Lohan’s box-office appeal, which has been in steep decline since her last major hit with 2004′s “Mean Girls.”

“She hasn’t been able to do much at the box office for years, and I’m pretty sure it will remain that way for the rest of her career unless a great director decides to take a chance on her,” BoxOffice.com chief analyst Phil Contrino told MTV News of Lohan’s bleak professional forecast. “It’s all TV movies and straight-to-VOD movies for the foreseeable future.”

TV movies and direct-to-video roles, if she’s lucky that is, since it will take a lot of faith and insurance money to fund any future Lohan production, given her checkered past. We asked a well-respected talent agent to explain what kind of insurance would be required for such a project.

“Most of the time, when you are talking about insurance, you are talking about a completion bond. The easiest way to understand it is to think about it like car insurance, where the movie is your car,” explained the agent. “If you wreck your car, your insurance company gives you back most of the money to fix or replace your car. In the movie business, the insurance company pays the producers back their money they’ve invested in making the movie if for some reason it is not completed. The insurance company bases their fee on how likely it is that the movie will be made on time and for the budget the producers have, just like when you are getting car insurance your premium is based on your driving history. For a producer to get a completion bond for a movie starring Lindsay, it’s like trying to get car insurance with a bunch of recent speeding tickets and accidents.”

All that said, Hollywood will continue to hold out hope for a comeback story, providing that Lohan can get a handle on her personal struggles and stay out of trouble.

“I feel that it’s a miracle she’s lasted this long. It’s really sad,” said Mantz. “She doesn’t exude the persona of someone who is trying to bounce back. There is no way she should think about going to a club. What are you doing? Stop. All she needs is one strong person to keep her on straight and narrow — whether a family member, boyfriend, therapist, just somebody to cut her off.”

Our agency insider added that Lohan would have to actually commit to staying out of the spotlight and deal with her personal and legal troubles before anyone will hire her again, and added that no matter how bad it gets, tinsel town will always welcome a comeback.

“If she can get her personal life in order and really wants to be a serious actor again, she’ll work and do well. A director will take a chance on her, most likely in an indie. If she proves she can still do it, we’ll all forget about her recent problems and remember her for the good actress she is.”

Mantz advised Lohan to try and follow the Robert Downey Jr. model of comeback success.

“The best example of a comeback is Robert Downey Jr.,” he said. “In the beginning of 2008 Robert Downey Jr. was a washed-up Oscar nominee. With one very good movie ['Iron Man'] he became an A-list superstar. All it takes is for Lindsay to have one hit movie and she’s on top again,” Mantz continued. “If they ever make a movie with one of Spider-Man’s love interests, a character called the Black Cat, if she popped up in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3′ and Lindsay played her, that’s the kind of role people would go, ‘She’s back.’ “

Before that can happen, however, all three experts agreed that the former Disney star needs to prove to the world that she’s ready to be taken seriously. Otherwise, we’ll just expect more tabloid fodder.

“[Audiences] are more interested in the train wreck aspect [of her life] at this point,” said Contrino.

50 Cent Takes You Behind The Scenes Of ‘Freelancers’

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson puts on his NYPD blues and hits the streets with Forest Whitaker in “Freelancers,” the new cop drama hitting Blu-ray, DVD and VOD today (August 21). Jackson stars as Malo, the son of a slain New York cop who joins the force and learns the horrible truth about his father’s death, taking him down the deadly path of revenge.

In this exclusive behind-the-scenes look at “Freelancers,” 50 Cent explains what appealed to him about the project and the journey of his character.

“Just seeing the growth of the actual character through different time periods — he regresses to the point that he’s even worse than his mentor, Forest’s character,” he said.

The featurette cuts to a scene of Malo in a squad car with Whitaker’s character, LaRue, who is diving nose first into coke while the two of them are on the job — which means that if 50 Cent is to be believed, Malo’s story is going to get a whole lot darker before it gets any brighter.

“He follows his own code,” Whitaker explained of LaRue’s actions. “He’s going to live his life and die in his life by his own beliefs, by his own code. He doesn’t care what other people think.”

Exclusive Clip: ‘Hunger Games’ Blu-Ray Sneak Peek!

Alright tributes, the long wait for the arrival of the “Hunger Games” Blu-ray and DVD is almost over. We have less than a week to get our hands on one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, and as we found out via a early screening of the Blu-ray/DVD, there are several versions from which to choose, depending on which special features you want most with your home viewing experience.

MTV News has a special treat for you in the form of an exclusive clip from the Blu-ray in which the principal castmembers, Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Elizabeth Banks signed autographs for the children who served as extras for the emotional reaping scene in District 12.

“This is Liam, he’s very handsome,” Banks says to an enthusiastic extra about her co-star seated next to her, as she signs an autograph.

“This is Elizabeth. She’s also very handsome,” Hemsworth adds with a smile on his face.

The cast and crew endured extreme temperatures while filming the reaping, and in the clip, we see that the stars and the extras were set up in a tent to keep them in the shade. Everyone seemed in good spirits and the castmembers had no problem joking around with one another.

“It was the least we could do,” Lawrence said of the experience, during which we see her explain to a young extra that she is Katniss, after which Hutcherson introduces himself as Peeta. “It was so hot, and so many of them had driven for so many hours to be there. It was the least we could do to sign autographs and kind of thank everybody.”

“The Hunger Games” is available August 18 at 12:01 a.m. on a two-disc DVD (plus digital copy), a two-disc Blu-ray (plus digital copy), VOD and a digital download with three hours of previously unavailable bonus materials that include the eight-part documentary, “The World is Watching: Making of The Hunger Games,” a sit-down conversation with director Gary Ross. Numerous featurettes examine the global success of the books, the creation of the control room in the film and the filmmakers’ motivation behind creating new scenes that were not in the book, plus much more.

‘Bel Ami’: The Reviews Are In!

At long last, your wait to see Robert Pattinson in all his shirtless, pants-less, bum-baring big-screen glory has arrived! “Bel Ami” opens in Los Angeles, New York and other select cites Friday (June 8), in addition to already being available on VOD.

Our story takes place in 19th-century Paris, where self-made man of sorts Georges Duroy (Pattinson) uses his wits and powers of seduction to rise from poverty to wealth, from a prostitute’s embrace to passionate trysts with wealthy beauties. It’s a curiously familiar societal setting in which politics and media jostle for influence and where sex is power and celebrity an obsession.

As excited as Pattinson fans are to see their favorite star in action, the critical mass is less than impressed with the “Twilight” hunk’s assets in this particular period piece as it’s currently sitting at a 31 percent “Fresh” rating at Rotten Tomatoes.

Without further ado, let’s sift through the “Bel Ami” reviews!

The Story
“Guy de Maupassant’s novel ‘Bel Ami’ has been adapted for the stage and screen multiple times — most memorably in 1947, in a movie starring George Sanders and Angela Lansbury. The novel’s appeal is obvious: It explores the social strata of 19th-century Paris by showing an ambitious scoundrel hopping from bed to bed. But given the era when the book was written, and given when its best-known adaptations were made, most ‘Bel Ami‘s have had to imply a lot, being coy about what’s really happening in those private chambers. So for the new adaptation, directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod and screenwriter Rachel Bennette try to take more advantage of the freedoms of modern cinema, making sure that their ‘Bel Ami‘ has plenty of sex and straight talk. The result is almost a test case for whether explicitness is a virtue. The verdict? Inconclusive. This new ‘Bel Ami‘ has a lot to recommend it, but it never seems as artful or smart as ‘Dangerous Liaisons,’ the film it most resembles.” — Noel Murray, A.V. Club

Pattinson’s Paramours
“What we get … is a dumb, entitled-but-tortured dreamboat falling into bed with a bunch of aristocratic women, and then turning inexplicably and insupportably Machiavellian only after he’s thoroughly slighted. First charming the throaty, free-spirited Madame Forestier (Uma Thurman, giving the film’s most engaged performance, to little avail), then the apparently erotically frustrated and still slightly gaminesque Clotilde (Christina Ricci, who looks pretty comfortable striking poses inspired by Degas’ odalisques, bless her heart) and finally wife-of-hated-boss Virginie (Kristin Scott-Thomas), Pattinson maintains the air of a kid being sent to bed without dessert. … The more experienced moviegoer may experience relief from the movie’s tedium by recalling the much better period pieces that female members of the cast have appeared in. Seeing Thurman in elaborate costume brought back fond memories of the much edgier and coherent and fun ‘Dangerous Liasons.’ For Ricci, of course, there’s ‘Prozac Nation,’ no, wait, sorry, the appealingly bloody Gothic ‘Sleepy Hollow.’ And for Scott-Thomas, well, when her character finds out that Duroy has just left the army after serving for five years in Algiers, she says, ‘I once heard a rather foolish story about the desert,’ and of course I thought, ‘You mean “The English Patient”?’ ” — Glenn Kenny, MSN Movies

A Pouty Pattinson?
“Mr. Pattinson’s strained performance in ‘Bel Ami’ leads a long list of problems in a film whose plot is so elaborate it would have been better served spread out over several hours. … As you watch Mr. Pattinson twist his features into expressions of cunning and treachery, as if he had just been practicing in a mirror, the primary missing ingredient is charm. This reasonably good-looking 26-year-old English actor, with his asymmetrical eyes and a doughy torso, affects a cold, reptilian sneer. Bad boys may have their appeal, but this one lacks the animal magnetism of even an amateur Lothario. To watch Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas melt under his icy ministrations is to roll your eyes in disbelief.” — Stephen Holden, The New York Times

The Final Word, Pro-Con Style
“[O]n the whole ‘Bel Ami’ is highly watchable. As is often the case in costume pictures especially, the degree to which different characters are convincingly of the world of the film varies. Thomas, for instance, is at once tragically and comically lovely as the good, religious wife seduced out of her right mind. She can telegraph that world in a glance and a few words. Thurman has a tougher time with Madeleine; although she makes a shattering indictment of Georges near the end, her character in particular — the ambitious political player stymied by her sex — demonstrates an endemic problem with the script (by Rachel Bennette) and the direction: The best performances seem to inhabit a story that the filmmaking doesn’t bear out.” — Michelle Orange, Movieline

“Is it his acting, the inexperience of co-directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod — each making their feature film debut — or both? Some reports from Cannes (although not from TIME’s Richard Corliss) had Pattinson coming into his own in David Cronenberg’s ‘Cosmopolis,’ but he gives no hint of depth in ‘Bel Ami.’ On the other hand, even an expert meanie like Colm Meany, playing George’s dismissive editor, doesn’t make much of an impression. The ladies fare a little better. Scott Thomas, despite her blessings in the innate elegance department, makes a convincing case she’s as pleased at being petted as a neglected whippet. In between considered puffs on a cigarette and playing a parlor game of French politics, Thurman’s Madeleine has a memorable sex scene with George involving both a figurative and, one senses from the pain on Pattinson’s face, literal testicular crushing. Time check: it’s been 24 years since she played the innocent virgin in the similarly themed, infinitely superior ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ (which in turn spawned its own teenaged version, ‘Cruel Intentions,’ apt to be a lot more fun for Pattinson’s ‘Twilight’ fans than ‘Bel Ami‘). Reality check: Robert Pattinson and John Malkovich; very different generations of le sex machine Française.” — Mary Pols, Time

‘Piranha 3DD’ Exclusive Behind-The-Scenes Clip Brings The Crazy

Casting a movie is a difficult business. You have to match the tone and subject matter of the film with the sensibilities of the actors filling the screen, so naturally a movie like “Piranha 3DD” is going to cast the likes of David Hasselhoff and Gary Busey and surround them with beautiful women.

In anticipation of the theatrical and VOD release of “Piranha 3DD” on June 1, we have an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette about the cast of the upcoming horror-comedy.

David Hasselhoff took time out of his busy schedule to discuss his toughest role to date: playing himself in “Piranha 3DD.” “I play the role of David Hasselhoff, a lot of competition out there, but I won the role,” he said.

But “Piranha 3DD” doesn’t stop with the Hoff. The film also features Gary Busey, Ving Rhames and Christopher “Doc Brown” Lloyd.

This being a 3-D piranha movie, crazy actors are only one half of the equation. You also have to cast beautiful women, and director John Gulager gets perhaps a little too enthusiastic about casting “30 Rock”‘s Katrina Bowden in the video.

But he isn’t alone in his appreciation of the women on set. The Hoff had this to say: “There were so many girls that were in such good shape, it looked like ‘Baywatch’ on steroids. It was like living in a 3-D moment every time you would go to the pool.”

Be sure to check out our exclusive above, and tune into “Piranha 3DD” when it hits VOD on June 1.

‘Terminator’ Actor Nick Stahl Reported Missing

“Terminator: Rise of the Machines” actor Nick Stahl has been reported missing. Los Angeles law enforcement officials confirmed to TMZ that Stahl’s wife, Rose Murphy, reported her husband missing on Monday, saying that the last time she last saw the 32-year-old was on May 9.

Sources told the website that Stahl had been displaying some erratic behavior recently and was allegedly spending time in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles. The source also expressed concern that the actor might have become involved in some questionable activities.

This is not the first time, however, that those close to the actor have expressed concern over his well-being. Stahl’s wife filed papers with the LA County Superior Court back in February asking a judge to limit her husband’s access to their 2-year-old daughter Marlo due to his alleged drug and alcohol abuse. She also claimed that she and Stahl were no longer living together.

There has been no word from Stahl’s reps regarding his whereabouts, but Stahl’s wife has been relatively active on her Twitter account, posting a general thank you for support early Wednesday (May 15). “Thank you for kind words,” she tweeted.

A quick look at Stahl’s Twitter account shows that the actor has been inactive since May 1, but that he and Murphy might have been working through their problems since the actor tweeted on April 26 that they were not actually separated.

“Not sure where it got started but @TheMrsStahl and I are not separated. Far from it,” he wrote.

Stahl made his big-screen debut back in 1993 opposite Mel Gibson in “The Man Without a Face.” Since then, he’s appeared in several major studio films, inclduing “The Thin Red Line,” “Disturbing Behavior” and “Sin City.” His most recent role is in the VOD-released “388 Arletta Avenue” opposite Devon Sawa.
